The SE K750 is of similar size of the Samsung so don't mention that as an advantage. The screen of the samsung is better but this causes that the standby time is double of the SE, speaking time even triple btw. For me the main reason to prefer the D600 above the K750 is the memory.

A world release of a hot new Samsung phone in the Philippines? Yeah that makes sense. Come on everyone, don't be so gullible. One little kid seeking attention makes one silly post and people wet their panties over it... geez!!

Compared with Sony Ericsson... This market is for a full feature small phone with convenient form factor and a high resolution screen, can anyone think of a Sony Ericsson model addressing this?

It has been released in the Philippines today and I just got my own! This is the greatest, coolest and most functional phone ever! It has a very accurate file viewer and a very cool features..!

I must admit that it has acceeded the features of an ugly very ordinary Symbian phones..
              Great camera!!!

Yes, please come with good arguments. My only argument why I like other phones above the D600 is that the release date is delayed and not clear. It's a great phone, if they release it now.....but that's not going to happen :(

Ever noticed that so many Nokias look like the same phone with a different keypad/cover? (because they are) Margins? I'd say Nokia's profit margins are the highest in the industry because no matter what crap they sell, people still buy it, even if it's a cheap junk 2 year old phone with a new "funky" (ie. ugly) cover+keypad. Nokia is especially popular in China because it's "famous" therefore it's good (like Speedo, Amway, and XO... I kid you not).

If people can explain why they prefer certain phones over the D600, and vice versa, it will help readers of this to make a better decision, rather than just "Nokia sucks" (everyone knows that already). I'd feel the exact model of phone matters to the user, not really the brand.

Yeah! Samsung All the way! since we are talking about Market... i must remind you that for the whole year of 2004, Samsung was Number 1 company to make the most Net Profit margin in the world (exceeding Microsoft in many years). But then again, Samsung makes most profits from selling LCDs, which Nokia doesn't have.

But the funnist thing is.... I dont know why i'm leaning towards Nokia 6230i over Samsung. Must be the replacable faceplates, to keep ur phone at top conditions for years to come. If ur big spender, and change phones every year, I would go for Samsung, but if ur looking for something permanent, go for Nokia.

I gotta tell ya, I quite agree with the comments made below, with complementing Samsung, But Nokia must be doing somethin right. coz people are still buyin them. (they sell more...with less profit)

If you want large market share, you make phones that fit to the large public for an attractive price. So this marketing strategy of Nokia makes sense. Samsung has better technology, but often also a higher price, for the high-end of the market..... Stop convincing each other about which one to buy....

Are there still no reliable release dates?

I agree with Bob totally. Nokia is behind the Samsung's technology for sure. They are just 1st manufacturer only by the fact of big market share. That's about it I would say.
Samsung makes very advanced phone, Motorola tend to make more prettier phone, I don't see very special characters of Nokia.

So what? Go buy the N90 then if you like it so much.

It's huge (is the brick phone back in fashion again), and almost double the weight of the D600 (brick). The right phone will fit the individual's specific needs and tastes. If you want such a large bulky heavy phone in the flip form factor (which is totally different to use than a slider) then be my guest and go get one. I for one want my phone to sit comfortably in my pocket next to my (high quality 7 megapixel) digital camera, not walk with a limp with such a huge apparatus in my pants, and not look like I'm pulling a laptop out of my pocket when it rings.

Well I suppose you can buy a bigger handbag to accommodate the huge physical size and weight of the N90, but I use a pocket not a bag (as I said, individual needs and tastes).

By the way the N90, with it's huge bulk and price, does not vibrate (wonder what they stuck into all that bulk, just a new screen?).

Right back in March they announced 3D sound on this phone. Sometimes they're careful what they claim for the specs when the exact feature set of the production model is not set in concrete yet. It will sound quite cool if the MP3 and ringtones (and games) have some 3D spatial effect.

No, no mention of 3D sound in the review.

And yes, it is possible for features to appear in prototypes then subsequently removed. This is usually either firmware memory constraints (unlikely for this kind of device!), failure to debug those modules properly in time, or cost/licensing issues. Unlikely for that to happen here.

hi bob.why have they put 3d sound as TBD.
what about the phone that was given to the testers?did it have 3d sound?is it possible
that they could change any feature even after giving it to the testers?

By the way, it says EDGE and 3D sound are TBD (to be decided presumably).

The specs on the Samsung site should be rather accurate. EDGE will probably only be available in certain submodels (D600E or whatever). Remember that page is the Samsung Middle East D600 specs, which may differ from your region or submodels.

Did they say the sound was better? I didn't read that. I read them as saying they considered the Motorola model has better loudspeakers... when it's released go to a shop and compare the sound for yourself, if the loudspeaker sound capability is really that important to you.

Interesting that you can plug the phone into a stereo or car with rca inputs...

but the reviewers have stated that the motorolla e398 has a better sound than d600
