you can set all to auto mode, (auto focus, white balance auto, iso auto) and dont shake the phone while taking pics, if you turn on the auto focus mode, it will take around 3 secs to take pics, start from the time you press the button

=========================================

Great phone, but hard to get good pictures with it ne suggestions?

hi, i have to agree with you

the only minus point from this phone is that user can't save any photo/video etc direct to external mamory

      =======================

      Hi,

Had this D900 for a month now and it's been great.

Used a 1GB SANDISK microSD card without any problems.

For faster taking of picsm turn of the auto focus, it works fine at objects around 1 ft to 1 meter distances.

Use autofocus for taking close ups (Max 10cm close up)

Best Camera settings i found so far is ISO Auto, White balance Auto, Spot exposure metering, Night scene program

Battery Life is average with heavy use of MP3 player, a few cam shots, some video, some games and lots of sending messages and calling. (it'll last you the whole day through) if on standby it'll probably last at least 48~72 hours (i'm a heavy user so i charge daily)

PC suite is great as I an manage the files and contacts on my phone directly, I can even send messages by using my keyboard.

Transferring of files from PC to phone is flawless, using both Mass storage mode and via PC suite (Directly to phone memory)

I can't understand why other people has so many gripes, maybe you get your phones from sub standard sellers that's why you suffer so much.

Oh well that's what the warranties are for, if you don't like it return it, but for me, one of the best phones i've used so far.

you can press the volume control button (up/down, try either one) on the side of the phone while the camera mode is on, then the display will flip back to normal, as you wish

Thanks for the reply Arvin, right now I'm really torn between the SE K790 and the Samsung D900. My main concern is MP3 functionality. I read both the reviews posted here and they both seem to have good feedback. I'm just a little lost I guess.

I have this phone for week now, previous phones was SonyEric K750, SonyEric P990 before them Nokia-s top models.
Pros- desing, menu (similar to Nokia syst), weight, size, screens, graphics, easy using and nice sized letters
              Not so pro (for me)-
              1. limit 300kb for e-mail dowloading> biggest problem is when e-mail is over 300kb phone rejects it all- right was be download e-mail text without attachments
              2. photocamera is not so good as it was on K750, camera is not very fast (opens slowly), picture quality is not so clear and sharp - I tryed with different settings and K750 is still more better,
              3. you can't use normally downloaded photos or files>only photos taken with camera can be directly zoomed, resized and used for backround pictures.
I'm using it on "full" settings (no energy savings) and it lasts 1-2 working days.

I recommend D900 if you using your phone for calling, messaging (small e-mails) and you need slim phone what will not look suite pockets like DD-sized silicons,
if you need to make photos then there is better phone/cameras on the market.

I have not yet experience how strong this phone is if it will drop several times ...
Have someone droped it alredy heavly ?

This may seem a stupid question but does the D900's numbers on the keypad light up in the dark?

to all the people who are saying the battery life for this phone is poor, its your own fault. i have this phone and the battery is fine. i listen to the mp3 player to and from work, i spend about an hour a day on a call and send loads of texts and the battery lasts all day.

the reason i said that its your own fault is that the initial charge is the most important thing. if you interupt the charge or dont give the full charge first time round then the battery will only charge uptil the point that you first charged. it other words youve already ruined you battery!!

if you do listen to the manual and be patient and give the battery a full charge first time round then the battery life will be of no problem to you!!!

I've had this phone for 1 month now and this is the 3rd one i'm on as they've all had problems, the main problem with all of them is trying to write a text msg and the letters dont appear when I press the keys, has anyone else had this problem? it's driving me up the wall, I fell like selling it and getting an old faitful Nokia. My opionion - this has to be the worst phone I've ever come across, I'll never buy another Samsung as long as I live. The camera is rubbish and you can't take a decent picture, the key menu is shaded out (why put it in?)and the battery life is abso apaulling, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HEAP OF RUBBISH!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

in my experience with regular use (sending messages, calling, etc.), I was able to use it as an MP3 player (using headphones not the loadspeaker) for around 3 hrs and it only lost 1 bae from the battery indicator.
pretty good if you asked me...

Hey, I'm planning to get this phone. My only concern is I also plan to use this as an mp3 player and I don't know if the battery life is any good? Anyone have any experience using the phone as their dedicated mp3 player as opposed to their ipod or something? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

well, ive had this phone for a few months now, and not had any problems...so far.
It's slim, stylish, and light, and has everything you need on a phone. The only small criticism i have, is that the earphones are too big and bulky, and don't fit properly in my ears. i could just have small ears, but since i have an mp3 player, it's not a great deal!
i would highly reccomend this phone if you want a great camera, all the usual phone stuff, and a fantastic looking handset.
