To those asking about the IIS Normal Volume settings (*#8999*8378#-> H/W Test-> Audio Settings-> IIS Normal-> Rx Vol), thankfully I recoreded the original settings.
Here they are...
Vol Orig Recommended
1 -82 -80
2 -74 -75
3 -66 -65
4 -58 -55
5 -50 -45
6 -42 -35
7 -34 -25
8 -26 -15
9 -18 -10
10 -10 - 2

Hopefully the max volume won't cause a buzz on your phone... hope this helps

to val.. i see wat your laughing at but wat it meant was that after playing 5hrs 40 mins of mp3 the fone will continue after that for about 6 minutes of phones calls before going completly flat..the actuall talktime i dont know but i often go by the mp3 test to give general stamine of the battery..
To mary either its second hand or often different regions get different things in the box & found this out recently as im in uk & my nokia n80 was destined for germany ????

Weak signal strength.Earpiece volume is very
low even when set to maximum volume.Battery
is average. The screen size could have been
bigger, there is a lot of wasted space.
SAMSUNG,you can do better than this.
Anyway I have decided to sell my D900.
Roll on the release of the Z560 HSDPA phone.

            to Y75J,

This is only normal because it is very important not to suprise you with a loud sound coming out from your phone when a calls come. In this situation, you can have the option to lower the volume by using the side keys or reject whenever you do not want to answer it. This asceding type of volume can be of useful side not to damage your speaker or your ear.

Can you not get the importance of it? Below one second of low ringing volume could make make a big deal of anwering a call?

Well I guess not because I have a two samsung phones and these phone do not enable me to have a missed calls at all.

              yes shane,

I am also not bothered with the sms customization because it is only an sms and beep, vibration or vibrate then default melody will do me fine without affecting the ring alert settings.

As long as my phone alert me periodically when an sms message is not being read then it just ok. Anyway as long as my phone realy allows me to personlized my music to any contacts I have, as well as to my alarm melody then I cannot ask for more.

I bought this phone, knowing that it has no sms tone customization because I guess it is the samsung way of being different from the rest out there and I love it.

No sweat, just enjoying my phone with new and out of this world menu with no the same algorithm.

I am proud of this phone and everyone else is staring at me whenever i use my phone.

Hey guys, I just got the d900 but I'm having trouble with my ringer. It's set at melody and vibrate at volume 5. But when I receive my call it seems that the first second or two of my ringer is practically muted but then it continues at full sound. Is there any patch or something for it? I reset my settings but it continues to do it HELP. Also I installed the samsung pc studio cd and my windows media player doesn't work because of it!!!! HELP PLEASSSSSSE

I'm a typical SE fan, but ended up i didn't buy any SE model. the design and outlook of D900 attracted me so much and i decided to buy it today. thankfully, it does not disappoint me. i don't mind if sms tone is not customizeable as long as it's always as thin as it is....

                  i love you D900!!

I just bought it. Very good in terms of function and security. But:

                      1. no custom sound for incoming SMS/email.
                      2. the keypad is a bit difficult to press, esp. if you use one hand to type messages.
                      3. the volume of mp3 playback is very low, compared with the ringtone (volume different , why???).
                      4. when the phone is idle there is no display and you can't tell if it's switched off or not (I think there should be a light at least).
                      5. there is no auto-save of messages sent, if you forget to "save and send" then you won't have a copy or any record at all (Sharp vodafone has auto-save with time-stamp, I like it).
                      6. I don't understand why there is no custom font size (what a shame!) for the menu. I think smaller font sizes can display more content in the screen without scrolling endlessly to search something.

I love the Mobile Tracker function coz my previous phone was stolen. The Samsung PC Studio software is also good and easy to use.

                      Anyway, it's a nice phone.

I'm very happy with my phone, on the contrary, the phone now is very loud!!! I had to send back the first one because of the battery but with the next day door service I got this since 3 days now and the battery is still ok! The only thing I can complain is why in the first one the initial message was different from the one I've got now and even the games are different and only 4 now istead of 7!

To arvin, (or whoever knows the answer) :)

Hello, very useful your post about how to increase volume settings through code *#8999*8378# the only thing is that I've messed up with the "other levels" too as i've changed all of them "accordingly" as you suggested but now, a part from the louder sound I've got as well a kind of "buzz" in higher tones... The problem is that -stupid me- i didn't took a note of the original ones! could you help please? thanks in advance

for those who have this phone and had the d500 before, how much of a difference is in the battery. i know it says 3.5 hours, but i just wanted to hear personal opinions from people that are switching from D500 to D900. thanks

To get Keypad Tones active (not greyed out)

                                    Settings
                                    Display Settings
                                    Dialling Display
                                    Font Type
change font type from THEME to NORMAL and then SAVE

                                    Keypad Tones are now active

                                      @ John

                                      Don't be cocky.
De Nokia you are talking about might be stirdy and so on. But comparing the two is total insanity.

They are not for the same target group or near the same features.

And you know what? I don't have to throw my phone around, i take care of my belonings. Therefore, stirdyness has no priority!

                                        Hi,
                                        please help me:

                                        1) Is the camera lens hide on the slider or it is on the back of the phone ?

                                        2) Can we put password for sections such as "phonebook, galleries, messages &..." like as D600?

                                        4) Can we see the JPG files (taken with the phone camera and downloaded) in FULLSCREEN?

                                        5) Does it have internal Loudspeaker? Is it stereo like D600 ??

                                        6) Can we put MIDI file for ringtone??

                                        Thanx...
