This phone is brilliant, and anyone who tells you that any Nokia or any Sony Ericsson is better has no idea what they are talking about.
I work for a large mobile phone service provider, and this is one of the best phones that has passed through my hands. It weight, style, and features make a great package, and if it has one fault it is the lack of voice dial.
Time will tell if the build quality lives up to that of the D500 & D600 - both of which I've used trouble free for some time.
This phone is a gem.

Hey guys, I just got the d900 but I'm having trouble with my ringer. It's set at melody and vibrate at volume 5. But when I receive my call it seems that the first second or two of my ringer is practically muted but then it continues at full sound. Is there any patch or something for it? I reset my settings but it continues to do it HELP

Weak service signal and poor quality speaker
in the earpiece.Battery is acceptable if you
charge every day.Otherwise not a bad phone.

hey all. has anyone of you experience having the phone pause for a while and then re-start in the middle of typing a message? i was just wondering if it's normal. perhaps, it's just me typing the msg too fast. hehe.
whatever it is, this phone is great. ;)

I am SO in to this phone. Just the one i've been looking for. I've had my D500 for a looong time now - and it's the best phone BY far i've ever had. JUST WORKS - ALWAYS. Even been into the swimmingpool with it. STILL WORKS! Incredible. And Samsung phones just react to quickly when pressing the key and seeing the reaction on the screen. No one makes better phones then Samsung. Now concluded!

Anyway, back to the D900. I've heard something about that the D900 (12,9) is beeing released in an even better model, called Joy (13,5). Is this right? Because apparently it's the exact same model, except is has 3G, two cameras (still the same 3.15 mpx camera) 150 mb internal memory and a VGA Video recording capebility together with more memory card options. So, when will this model hit Europe?

            Cheers! :D

Can anyone tell me how to change my message tone to something I have downloaded? It only seems to be able to have the 10 rubbish ones on it?

To arvin, (or whoever knows the answer) :)

Hello, very useful your post about how to increase volume settings through code *#8999*8378# the only thing is that I've messed up with the "other levels" too as i've changed all of them "accordingly" as you suggested but now, a part from the louder sound I've got as well a kind of "buzz" in higher tones... The problem is that -stupid me- i didn't took a note of the original ones! could you help please? thanks in advance

                      Hi,

No too sure if anyone has posted anything to do with the limitation on MP3 names and folders. I bought a 1GB SD micro card (2GB not supported) and loaded MP3 files from my PC onto the card under the music folder. I created sub-folders named after the artists.
When I loaded the card into my phone several folders were empty. I then discovered that the MP3 file names have a limit of (approx) 50 characters, since most of the MP3’s I have are named using the artist name/album/track I exceeded the 50 characters.
I renamed all the files 120 +(with the help of a simple VBScript program) and all is well.
Just though I’d let people know of the limitation with the D900.

                      UPO.

                                to people,
sure d900 has a lot of short comings, but for a phone with a static OS I think it's pretty cool!

To those complaining of the keypad tones when using the themes just press the side volume button and you'll see the wonders it can do.

To those who can't remove predictive text, try pressing the right action button in text writing mode (just above the call end button) you'll see the symbols will change "A" for multitap, "@' for T9, "1" for numeric and "#/" for symbols. I think you'll find this quite helpful.

As for those complaining of how quiet it is, I think all you need is to remove the plastic covers, and if that's not enough, type in *#8999*8378# go to H/W test then audio settings, then go to IIS Normal then to Rx Vol set Level 10 value to "0" to enable the maximum sound. then set the other values accordingly. Note that 0 denotes highest volume and as you increase the value the volume decreases.

Also to those complaining of the battery life, try setting the display to minimum value, and it'll increase your battery life by almost 30%.

In my opinion it's not perfect but it sure is one of the best phones samsung has ever released, so go figure...

Just got it last week, free when i upgraded my contract. Taken me a while to get used to it, menu system is terrible but managed to get key tones off....only thing i cant do is remove predictive text (ive never gotten used to it) I dont think you can actually remove it on this phone, which sux!

Firstly, If you read openions of users of K800i. You will come to a conclusion of not buying K800. Secondly, you cant compare K800i to D900. The K800i has no features. It hasn't got the followings:

Document viewer to read all documents ,and to open large images.

TV out which is very important feature for business and entertainment to watch your recorded and downloaded videos, a photos, and documents. Students, teachers, and marketing persons can do their presentation with D900 instead of carrying laptops.

Password on any or all of messages, photos, call register, phonebook, sound, music, other files, and memory card.

SOS message to get help when you are in emergency.

Mobile tracker enable you to know the phone number using your phone when your phone is stolen or lost.

MP4 High quality video recording and playing.
Answer machine. and may other features that I can't remember now.

                                    Beautiful design.
AS I mentioned there is no comparison between the D900 and the K800i

I can see this: A lot of people said that this phone is not good, it has bad signal, is to light, they can not remove the key tone (but they don't know how!!!). My opinion: U ARE SO S2PID! U can not handle this phone; u are sony-ericsson fans; STOP POSTING HERE u incompetent people! Go buy your s2pid K800i and leave us alone! If u are s2pid, that doesn't mean that this phone is also s2upid!

Elizabeth wrote the following: "...At first it looks great, very slimline phone, nice colour graphics BUT terrible at receiving signal. I am with O2 and have always been with O2. Never had reception problems before with my Nokias and now this phone is driving me crazy with dropped calls and reception fading etc... anyone found this ? I am now on an 18 month contract and I'm about to swap my SIM card to my old phone and sell this one on ebay !"

I'd just like to agree with absolutely everything she said. I won't be selling mine because I wouldn't wish this phone on my worst enemy. I will either go back to my Sony Ericsson w800 (that's if I can get my sim card out of this thing) or buy a new phone. The D900 was meant to be an upgrade from the w800 but it is a FAR inferior phone. And you all thought vampires sucked - wait till you waste your hard earned money on this heap of a phone!
