Those who are debating about the Ultra series 3G Z620:

Even though its not confirmed, looking at the pictures (http://www.slashphone.com/102/4934.html)it seems that Z620 has a rotating camera which can be used for 3G video calls. I dont think Samsung would be dumb enough (like what Nokia did with N91) to release a 3G phone without a front cam .LOL

I've had my D900 for a couple of days now. The killer app is the camera. With autofocus selected (not setup when shipped from the factory - doh!) you don't miss focus. Even macro-type close-ups. Sure, you're not going to blow up a 3megp picture up to A3, but 6x4 prints look good. Video is useful too - CIF format a leap forward.

There is something a bit dodge about that new 13.5mm 'ultra' phone - if it is 3G, wheres the front camera for video calls??

I've already waited three months for a phone decent enought to justify going out and getting a new contract. The D900 was it.

Even if i knew about the "Ultra 13.5", there was no way i was waiting another 6 months, even if it is on 3G (and so is clearly going to be on a good contract, cos 2G contracts are a f*ckin rip off).

Also ! The camera lens on the D900 is protected when the handset is closed, unlike the d600 !

What more improvements do you want ?
The only major improvement would be to make this phone 3G ! But 3G models are available in the 'Z' series.

The phone looks are a definate improvement on previous Samsungs as its alot slimmer but in all honesty I cant see much improvement else where other than the camera and am a big Samsung fan,
Can someone please tell me why this phone is better than a D600 other than the obvious which is the design and the camera.
It just seems like Samsung have took the D600 put a better camera on it and made it thinner which is I suppose is a slight upgrade.
Surely though people would expect more from this phone.

The big difference between this and the D600 is the size and style. The D600 is bulky and drab in comparison ! The other obvious improvement is the 3.15MP camera.
This looks to be the best 2G handset available on the market at the moment !

I owuld do the upgrade. I bet its worth it.

The D900 looks a hell of a lot better anyway and, apart from calling and texting, that is almost as important.

No big diference between this and D600... I still don't know if it worth to change my d600 with D900..I gues I'll wait for the next D Samsung.

                          To Snh7

Dont think it does havea % button, but this is because of a good reason.

If you want a percentage of something, just times it by . something. 80% times it by 0.8

                          3.45% times it by 0.0345

Hence why Samsung didnt include the % button - its completely uneccessary.

                            To LONELY BOI

"Does this phone have multi tasking function?"
You can play music while writing a text message if that's what you mean. Otherwise, if you want a "pure" multitasking phone, perhaps you should give up on a cool, sleek design and look at a clumsy, ugly and geeky smartphone.

"How fast is the blutooth? (40kb/s?)"
Dont know, does it really matter anyway? It does have bluetooth, which obviously transfers your files eventually. To ask the speed is a bit ridiculous. Surely there are more important things to worry about like global warming and paying for your air.

"How clear and loud is this phone?"
Its loud and clear. Stop comparing it to other phones, thats so f*ckin geeky and such a waste of life that it will probably be the 8th sin before long..

"How much memory does it support?(*GB)"
Dont know, email Samsung or just shove a memory card in and keep your fingers crossed. The way the D900 handles memory isnt too amazing anyway - i.e. i am yet to work out how to save onto the memory card first, rather than onto the 60mb embedded mem...

"Is it possible to use 3.5mm earpiece(using any means necessary)"
Dont know. But by using any means necessary, you could pay an independant electronics firm to knock you up a 3.5mm jack converter for your Samsung D900. It will cost about £10,000, but it will definately be worth it. Definately. Alternatively, the headphones that come in the box are more than adequate...

Thanks, at least it's not a firmware bug then!

It's just annoying having it sit on the status line all the time even though the connection isn't in use!

Think I will avoid getting a memory card if it only adds to the clutter.

                                  Thanks for the quick reply.

You cant, and its normal for most 2G phones to have 'G' displayed permanently on screen.

If you think thats annoying, wait til you plug a memory card in - just next to that 'G' is a small memory card icon that you cant get rid of!

Can anyone tell me whether the GPRS "G" is a permenant feature of the status line on this phone? Mine never goes away - although when I do actually use GPRS it flashes red/blue to show the connection is active. Any idea how to turn this off/remove it?

                                        To manu

YES, it does have flight mode. You have to select "offline mode" from the settings menu and you can then use the phone features/access phone book on an aeroplane without it bursting into flames and you being responsible for 200 deaths...

And a2dp - not sure. You do get stereo headphones in the box if it doesnt..

                                        To calidude13

If you want the screen to stay on while charging, then you can. Otherwise you can select to turn the screen off when charging from the settings menu.

                                        To M3s@

Yeh, thats one thing thats been pissin me off as well. File transfer on the D900 takes all day and i cant for the life of me find out how to tell the thing to save everything on the memory card first.

There must be some kind of an option somewhere though, unless Samsung have been A-class retards or something. I mean, whats the point in have 3MP photos and huge videos when the thing only has 60MB of on board mem?

Surely it wouldnt save it if it doesnt automatically switch to your mem card?

                                        Dunno...
