MARK, You can't save all messages in outbox. Purpose of outbox is different. Messages you have given 'send' command, but failed to send that time are saved in outbox. You can go to outbox anytime and option is there to send it again. Similiarly, if you send an mms, it may take some time to be sent, all the time it will remain in outbox and you can 'cancel sending' any time. For checking this, you may create an sms, send it to an INVALID number, press 'No' to 'retry?' and 'Yes' to 'save?'. Then go to outbox to find that sms. Try sending an mms also, to your own number, you can find it in outbox with an arrow, which indicates that it is still under sending. Cancel sending and arrow disappears. As i understand, When a message is finally sent, it disappears from outbox.
After creating a message, to send only, press 'options' and 1. to save and sent, press options and 2 -it will be saved in sentbox. To save only in 'Drafts', press right soft key (back) and left soft key (yes). But once you SEND a message stored in drafts, it disappears from there. To save only a message for ever, save in 'my folder' from options.

VLADO, If you are a regular user of the traditional (ABC) mode of texting, then there is NO NIGHTMARE for you, because, ONCE you select the ABC mode, the phone will REMEMBER it for LIFETIME. Every time it starts with the mode in which you left it. Just press * to switch between upper, lower and sentence case and number mode. Whenever you want to select T9, press and hold *.
(And it is a nightmare for me texting WITHOUT t9 mode, coz, i'll have to press keys, press and press and wait and wait for my life!:-D Anyway, it is you to decide)
But it can't permenantly remember the text size, there is no save option, only apply option so it comes to normal everytime. But for your information, this is a big screen and can accomodate 8 lines of text at a time.

VIEWING OPTIONS- 1.Normal viewing, you can scroll linewise or pagewise.
2.VIVID VIEW- The message will be played automatically, you take rest, watching. There are some animations replacing certain words.
3.ZOOM VIEW-select this and use volume keys to zoom the text. At the highest level a letter appears almost one-third of the screen!
Messaging, as i feel, is so cool in this!

I am considering to get this model because of its look. After reading these reviews and an online manual, I am having second thoughts. It would be my third Samsung with the same story: Great hardware, lousy software. My specific gripe is the dreaded T9 for text messaging. Every other manufacturer allows users to turn this awfull feature off. Samsung not only forces the users to scroll through T9 with every text message typing, but on the model 735 which I have right now this nightmare is the fixed default for text messaging. Manual for model 900 says that you "switch between T9 and ABC modes by pressing *" That means the same thing which I have to deal with now: Every time before typing the text, I have to scroll away from T9. Somebody wrote here that the T9 can be turned off on D900 by pressing and holding *. But that is just scrolling between text modes, not turning T9 off. I was hoping that Samsung would finally provide the turn off switch for T9 so that it would not show up while scrolling through the text modes. But they stubornly stick to their guns. Another text problem not mentioned in 900 manual is changing the default font size for both in and out messages. 735 model has fixed default Small font which is more like micro rather then small. For typing, I can change the size through the Text Options, but the next SMS typing will default back to Small and I have to repeat the font size change procedure. I would like to know if Samsung allows changing the DEFAULT font size for the typing with model 900. For incoming messages, changing the font size is not allowed at all with 735 model. Does anybody know if it is possible to read incoming messages in other than Small font with D900?

for the keypad tune, you can turn it off
                  1. slide ur phone, make it open
                  2. press the down button on left side to low to volumn of keypad tune
                  3. when it's 0, your keypad tune will off.

(comment: the left side's buttons is not about your incoming tune)

btw, don't really preffer to buy this phone, juse spend $100 more to buy nokia n73.

cuz i bought it and it breaks once.

Does anyone have guidelines on setting up the phone as Dial-up/Fax modem?

My D900 serves as my Data/Internet connection for my PC, but how would I use it as a Fax modem. I tried changing my fax printer to use the phone's modem but the call does not connect!?

TO KENNY: 1.Music volume through phone speaker, as I feel, is not as good as SE phones. Ringtone volume also not as loud as SE, but ENOUGH loud and there are methods to make it louder, so thats not a problem.----2.Music quality is excellent through the given stereo headset. Things such as digitally amplifier and 4 equalisers become relevant while using headset.----3.With the musicplayer on, you can do almost all functions, for details enter 'BACKGROUND MUSIC' in the search opinion box at the bottom of this page and search(this is to save space and minimise repetition)----4.Slide show-yes.---5.mp3 for ringtone, alarm, not for message
                      6. regarding SPECIAL FEATURES OF D900, SEE MY POST BELOW
7.you should know that its battery is not a good performer, (you may compensate this with additional enhancements such as extended battery and external charger). If you are new to Samsung, know that chances of customisation are less compared to other brands esp nokia. you can't download themes, only in-built tones for sms, camera is very good but flash not powerful- so night photos bad. Samsung phones are generally known for the unmatchable display quality.

                          Hi everyone!!!
I'm planning to buy this phone but still not sure that it's really perfect(though it sounds brilliant after viewing the other opinions), so here's some questions that I wanna ask....I would really appreciate all the help I can get!!!

                          1. Can its sound be compared to a Sony Ericsson phone??

                          2. Is the sound good with a normal samsung d900 headphones or is there a special one??

                          3. Can the music player be minimised to be played in the background while I'm doing something else??

                          4. Is there a "slideshow" function to view the pictures/photos in the phone??

                          5. Mp3 can be used for...(ring,message,alarm...)??

                          6. What additional/special features/softwares does it have??

                          7. What else should I know about this phone??

                          ...Kenny

I had to talk to Samsung about the keypad tone, which I found really annoying. In settings make sure that you do not have any themes selected. then you will be able to turn off the keypad tone

FOR ANYBODY PLANNING TO BUY THIS HANDSET,
HERE ARE SOME OF THE SPECIAL FEATURES OF D900

1.LIVING WORLD (THEME) WALLPAPER- The wallpaper is a picture of an important landmark of the country in which you are.(House of parliament for UK, Tower of Kolalampur for Malaysia, etc)with animations like birds flying etc. When you reaches another country, the wallpaper changes accordingly! It probably uses the operator signals for this. When night falls, night falls in the wallpaper too! There are animations seperately for day and night. When a missed call or new message is there, the animation changes, like, aeroplanes in the day and fireworks at night. When the signal is weak, sky is cloudy and if signal is strong, sky is clear. if no signal(or offline mode) there is another picture of grassy field or like that. The wallpaper speaks!
                                (Menu 9-3-1)

2.uMenu- A personalised menu of shortcuts. U Menu has two parts. The 'My Menu' shows up on pressing "up' navigation key, it has upto 5 shortcuts of your favourite functions, can be selected from a list of options. This is not a unique feature of Samsung, seen in other makes also. The unique and more intelligent part is the 'Advanced Shortcuts'. For example, type 1203 in idle mode. Press 'Down' navigation key and calculator starts with 1203 on its screen! Press 'Up' key and alarm menu opens with set time 12:03(AM/PM). Press 'right' key and a calendar entry can be made on 12/03/2007. Press 'left', the write-message screen appears and the sms will be sent to 1203, (if it is valid). come back to main screen at any time and 1203 remains there, ready for another operation. Intelligent! This resembles uSearch function in X820 and P310.
                                (Menu 9-2-5 & 9-2-6)

3.VIVID MESSAGES- Preset words in text messages are replaced by animations. The text becomes colourful and you needn't scroll for viewing- they are 'played'! With the confirmation key, you can play/stop.
                                (Menu 5-5-1-2)

4.MP4 VIDEO RECORDING- Many other leading models can PLAY MP4 videos but they record in 3GP (low quality). D900, like many other samsung phones can RECORD videos in mp4 (3GP also)

5.VIDEO CALLER ID- you can record a video and assign to a phonebook entry so that when incoming call from the contact comes, the video is displayed.

6.REJECT SMS- you can reject an incoming call by pressing and holding the side-volume-key( while in a meeting etc). When you do so, a preset text message(created earlier by you)is sent to the caller for explanation, and of course, with your conformation. you can set the function also to reject without the sms and alternatively to mute the tone when it rings.
                                (Menu 9-2-7)

7.SOS MESSAGE- When this is active, if you press the volume key 4 times in idle mode with keypad locked, an emergency message is sent to 10 preset numbers. If any of these numbers calls back, the phone automatically connects without waiting for you to press the green key. All the operations are done silently with vibration. Useful in emergencies.
                                (Menu 5-6)

8.MOBILE TRACKER- A useful application for recovering a lost/stolen phone. For details click:
