i bought the samsung e900 today and i must say it is a wicked phone! i like the idea of the heat sensitive keypad. i am aware of the fact that the slide can be slightly dodgy sometimes but its much better compared to the d600. i havent put down the phone since i bought it this morning. it is the must have phone today in the market!

To slimes:
cannot choose between sim or phone for contacts?
You can choose between sim and phone for contacts and also transfer all your contacts from sim to phone.

got the E900 the other day, mixed feelings about it, some really basic features are missing like..
no vibrate and ring. it vibrates 3 times and then rings. even worse with text messages, you have a choice of either vibrate or tone, and not both (and cannot use your own choice of sound, ie mp3). really strange that Samsung would have omitted such a basic and VERY useful feature found on 99% of other recent phones. can be fixed by using PSMPlayer and .mmf poly files, but they sound outdated today compared to real music mp3 etc.
no profiles. nuff said.
the touch keys are a bit of a gimmick, i am forever cancelling writing halfway though a text due to a very sensitive "clear" button near the 4 way pad. much rather have real buttons.
cannot choose between sim or phone for contacts.
composing and sending a text seems to take forever. too many key presses to get to "send", and also cannot get T9 to stay on as default when writing a new text.
Pros?
nice screen, small, pretty decent quality camera, good memory + expansion.
Wish i'd gotten an N80 now :-/

For people saying the slider isn't good, or it gets scratched easily.
Mine feel out of my pocket onto a rough surface while i was running. The screen wasn't scratched just the corner of the plastic at the back a little. The slider suffered no damage at all. Surprisingly durable.

Hi
received this fone yesterday i thinks its brill, the touch screen takes a bit of getting use to, but was wondering does anyone know why when the phone is not in use the phone looks like it is switched off and to see if i have a missed call or text i have to press the selct button and then the screen lights up and i can the see the logos at the top. Had a E720 before and the signal bar, time and envelope was on constantly.

excellent feature set except for 2 touch pad problems:
- feather sensitive and easy to accidentally activate
- unable to rapidly delete many characters when composing SMS, faster to re-type it all

When the phone is closed, the touch sensitive keypad won't work. U need to open the slider to enable it to be activated.
Not really! you still can use to get into a menu or make a call while the phone is closed by press power button anh release the touch sensitive on anh you can use to make a call or get into the features which don't need to open the phone.

Myself and my partner bought this phone on Saturday from Carphone Warehouse (on 02), but they did not have it in stock, so they sent it directly to our home on Tuesday and I have to say that while it's a good handset, the touch controls are way too sensitive for normal day-to-day use (especially the cancel/end call sensor, which if you got too close to, would take you out of whatever opperation you may be doing at the time). It became so annoying that we returned both handsets today (after just two days) and replaced them with two LG KG800 Chocolate's, which we are far more happy with.
I know there will be some people reading this, wondering how we could be happier with (what you could say is) a "less well featured handset", but "great features do not a good handset make". In other words, just because a phone has tons of great feature, if they are poorly implemented (as they are on the Samsung), it will make for a unenjoyable experience (which it did). The LG Chocolate, though not having as many features as the Samsung, is a far better handset because all it's features are well implemented and thus enjoyable (which it is, as I've hardly put it down since arriving home with it).
Sorry Samsung, you didn't get it right with this one.

hey you there.....dont buy this fone for these reasons:
1.its not comfortable for everyday life
2.strange fone
3.it gets easyly scratched
4.slider is not good
i liked it very much but i got a D820 and its amazing wich is not expensive only 279 eurod. in october, when the fun starts to play and the D900 will be released, i'll drop the d820 and get the d900.

it is to touch sensitive and compared to my old Samsung D500 takes ages to send a text reply.....note longer when your hand touch"s the senses, frustrating when you have to start all over again, camera ok but no way a usea friendly mobile.
