Julie, I currently own the Samsung Armani and yes on that you can make your own folders and use mp3 for message tones. Annoyingly they still won't ring and vibrate at the same time though!

I've just been speaking to O2 & The Carphone Warehouse about this. It will be the 28th May for O2 & the beginning of June for CPW (despite their website saying 19th May)

Bobo,
I agree that the inclusion of an 8gb micro
sd card compatible slot has made this already appealing phone an almost dead cert pick.
I was worried that the memory capacity would let it down, (due to the fact that the screen size obviously lends itself to movies, as well as the imaging department needing memory for those 5meg snaps!) However, samsung have not disappointed...
The lack of wifi? No biggy in my opinion, at home I've got my laptop and with 3.5G, on an unlimited data plan, why would it matter?

17GA,
Yep, I think I’ll trust the Samsung manual. I already have an 8GB SDHC memory card as I have the TyTNII (problematic phone) but I was wondering if I was going to have to purchase a 4GB memory card too. Looks like I won’t have to. The Samsung F480 is becoming even more attractive and ideal the more I learn about it. The only thing it seems to lack is Wifi but I’ve never even used that on my TyTNII and most likely never will.
Just to note, the CHEAPEST price for the Samsung F480 SIM FREE I’ve found is **£319.95** on mobile fun’s website, and believe me I’ve searched LONG and HARD for a price cheaper than this. Some sites won’t give a price for this device sim free as its not released, so I’ve had to exclude them. Play.com and other sites are charging £349 which was is much more expensive than mobile fun’s price. (see link below all)

I found that too mate...
tbh you've gotta trust the official samsung manual haven't you?
Although, I would wait, check the manual with the phone and then buy a card as that way you would be pretty much assured the size printed there would be correct.

The Carphone warehouse has advertised that it will be selling it from the 19th of May '08.
Some other retailers have advertised its release for early June.
I did download the samsung manual for this phone, and I did stumle upon it advertising 8GB memory card expandable, but all other internet sites state that the maximum memory card the Samsung F480 can take is 4GB. Whic one is it?

I too am awaiting the launch of this phone in the UK. I have now called o2 regarding an upgrade 2-3 times (as you cant always rely on the information that one person gives you) and each time i have been told that the o2 launch date for the F480 will be the 26th May, However no indication of cost on specific contracts has been given yet.

Michael, you can get the F480 for free if you take out an 18 month contract with O2

Just do a google search loads of companies are doing pre-orders with different contract deals. I'm not expecting to pay more than £50 for it on an upgrade on my contract.

Yeah~ I was pissed when they launched the fone but not yet releasing them! Maybe they want us to feel excited first and then start releasing. LOL...In the UK I think it's around end June. But I hope they changed the date cos' I decided to purchase this fone as it got everything u want! It's almost the same as F490 but this fone is wider and bigger and F480 is slimmer and smaller...
Anyway, if anyone of you have idea about this fone, please let me know when it will be releasing...so i can go get one for myself soon!!
Many thanks!! =)
