In order to make those parts able to fit in a smaller phone, manufacturers like Samsung would have to make custom orders, which could lead to increased manufacturing costs. So a small phone might actually end up being more expensive to manufacture... at least that's what the writers thought in their article.

Whether that's true or not, a Galaxy A35e and/or A55e with a 6.1 inch screen would certainly make Samsung more money than all these pointless clones like the M35, M55, C55, F55, and etcetera that are exclusive to a few countries only.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024Samsung's decisions aren't financial based. There... moreI remember switching from a Xiaomi Pocophone F1 to a Galaxy A8 2018 several years ago because I wanted the compact size. It was super nice to hold and easily pocketable, but too bad its performance was lackluster and it only had a measly 32GB of storage when other competitors had 64GB or even 128GB for less than the A8 2018's price.

After only 2 years of using the A8 2018, I decided to switch back to Xiaomi again because apps kept getting bigger in size and the Galaxy slowed down to a crawl.

So here's another homework for Samsung's book - stop offering only 128GB of storage as the base configuration when competitors have 256GB and even 512GB for less money than the A35.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024Samsung's decisions aren't financial based. There... moreIdiot commenters keep countering that other manufacturers don't make compact phones either. What they don't mention is that these other manufacturers don't make a bunch of duplicate phones with different model names either. So Samsung obviously does things very differently than the others. And it's not about making more money. If it was, they'd make a compact budget phone for the millions who want one but can't afford the very expensive price of the compact S24 or S23.

There are far more people that would buy a compact mid-ranger (the size of the highly popular S24/S23) than those clamoring for a phone that's a clone of an existing A-series phone, just with a different name and one or two tiny differences. But they don't care. They're busy pumping out spin-offs like the A55/M55/F55/C55/M55s, or the A35/M35/F35... for crying out loud!

You can keep dreaming all you want. But I guarantee you, Samsung will never, ever, EVER, IN A MILLION YEARS, make a compact budget/midrange phone the size of the base S22, S23, and S24.

                  https://m.gsmarena.com/counterpoint_salesofgalaxy_s24_series_surpass_s23_globally_the_ultra_remains_the_most_popular_model-news-61952.php

See this article? The majority of people prefer big phones, and the sales split of the S24 Ultra compared to the base S24 reflect that - 52% and 27% respectively. And because the low-end/midrange market is filled with way more competition especially from Chinese brands, Samsung has no choice but to only make their budget phones big in order to compete.

Sorry bud, beggars can't be choosers.

Meanwhile, the A54 is $300. For that price, I see no reason to pick the A54 over the A35 because both phones are incredibly similar, plus the A54 is a year older so it only has 4 years of software updates remaining as opposed to 5 years on the A35.

NaXYaN, 30 Jul 2024There is also the OnePlus Nord 4.Hmm, yes... The newer Sony sensor seems to pack quite a punch. Well, it's fine - I'm not a power user, but I do like nice photos. But I can see some steps in the right direction from Samsung: premium materials, decent SoCs, some advancements in cameras. I really like OneUI - it's my second favorite after Pixel. Sad thing about Pixels is the price... Uuuuh... Pixel 8a is 450 Euros where I'm from and the A35 is just 250, so... yeah, quite a difference. I think I'm going to settle for a A15 4G and use the rest of the money to get drunk :))

In Egypt, the Samsung A35 is approximately $280, making it a less attractive option. Additionally, Chinese phones are also expensive here. We don't have OnePlus, Nothing, or Google phones, and Honor phones are costly and not all models are available in Egypt.

I used the Honor 8x for five years, and the phone remained perfectly fine and inexpensive to repair. I only broke the screen twice. Recently, I bought the OnePlus Nord 4, and I love it. I really really LOVE Pixel UI. I feel I can't adapt to anything else :(
                                      Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
BUT, I have to confess: A55 took better pics than 7a in dark enviroments. Almost making it look like it was day. Pixel 7a can do that too, but you have to take a 4 minute shot and have to hold the phone completely still. Yeah, I guess Tensor is pretty nice, in the end. To be honest, it's really snappy in menus, more so than the A55. But I'd like to see a "budget" Pixel 9a. That Tensor G4 does show some promise. Might even consider a 9a (if it will exist) and skip the 1st generation TSMC.

I shall summarize my previous point - just because a phone doesn't have the features or hardware you need doesn't necessarily mean it's "bad". Sales figures of last year's A54 proved that, it sold a couple hundred thousand units despite it using an Exynos processor that you hate so much.
