r.why.me, 06 Mar 2025A couple of days ago, I managed to get some time with a Gal... moreThis is quite insightful, thanks. Do you think it would be wise for me to take the plunge and spend a little bit more to get the A56 over the A36, since it has UFS 3.1 and therefore would be a little more "future-proof" with regard to storage/memory controller speed? I currently have two phones with UFS 2.1 storage but they have drastically different read/write speeds because of the difference in memory controllers/implementations of each one. However, there is a phone in the family that has eMMC 5.1 and that seems obnoxiously slow in comparison to either of my UFS 2.1 phones. I'm just wondering if UFS 3.1 is really going to be 3X faster and more power efficient than 2.1 (like the technical documentation claims). I know for a fact that the quality of the memory controller and the manufacturer's implementation might impact the real world speeds. Hence, I'm still on the fence about which storage type to choose :/

samsunghater, 07 Mar 2025wow no SD card what makes this special anyways. A series is... moreI don't need much for my A35. But it is cellphone I use for a landline replacement.

I did use more storage when I traded in my S24 Ultra. I transferred the data to my A35 and used it for a couple of days. Until I transferred the data, to my S25 Ultra. Since I got my S25 Ultra from BestBuy. And you need to trade in the old phone when you pick up the new on ein store. So there is no overlap period, like when buying directly from Samsung with a trade in.

higher charging capacity. The Samsung A36 with 6/128GB starts at €379, making it even more expensive. Don't panic, prices should drop pretty quickly.

YourLocalPhoneCritic, 07 Mar 2025What's great about this year's Galaxy A36 is that... moreHuh... I did not give much thought to the haptics in my earlier posts. The haptics on the A36 and A56 did indeed feel better than on their respective predecessors.

What's great about this year's Galaxy A36 is that it has IDENTICAL linear haptic feedback motor that is found in Galaxy A56. Big improvement! 👍

Whereas last year, A35 had an older circular "eccentric rotating mass vibration motor" unlike the A55 which had a square linear haptic feedback motor.

This will be unnoticed by most reviewers, you can only tell this if you teardown both devices. Good job Samsung! 💙📱

Smaller bezel, lighter, slimmer, better selfie camera, better processor, faster charging...
Better than A35 in everything, but you need to choose the 8/256 to be safe...
Gonna be the best selling midrange in 2025

To the West, 06 Mar 2025Same place, same carrier My old a71 5g is X52? modem 71 ... moreI understand. I am conflicted myself.

I want to get the older A35. I am tempted by the currently low price and the memory card support. And its signal reception strengths are good enough. It is not great, but good enough. Battery life is also good enough. Again: not great, but good enough for me. I also just prefer that design. And I can live with Exynos. They're actually not bad. Literally the only issue is the modem. Everything else is good enough.

I am also tempted by the A36 because of the Qualcomm modem (as I find myself increasingly working on hotspot), slimmer and lighter build, and likely cooler operation. The SD 6 G3 runs cool in the Moto G75, and the Moto G series tend to run hot, mind you. The A36 should be a really cool-running device, then. Battery life should also be great, especially on mobile data. I can live without e-sim support for now. Then the only issues so far are the price and lack of memory card support.

I want to test if I buy a36

I think Galaxy phone has better internal design than Motorola

The a56 is coming to the US this time, but the reason I'm not buying the a56 and instead buying the a36 is not because I don't like the Exynos, but because of the modem.

A couple of days ago, I managed to get some time with a Galaxy A36 and A56 at a store owned by a friend.

The price has indeed been hiked compared to the A35 - at least where I live - by about 5 to 7 percent. At the price point that the A36 is releasing, the SD 6 Gen 3 is just . . . underwhelming. There is in actuality no noticeable CPU-wise performance upgrade over the A35, and only a slight bump on the GPU side. And there is only a slight bump in energy efficiency compared to the Exynos 1380 (as you can see on notebookcheck's reviews of the Galaxy A35 and Moto G75). You lose out on memory card support, there is no e-sim support here and in most of the world, and the device is still using UFS 2.2 with a slow memory controller. They could have either upgraded to UFS 3.1 or at least used a faster memory controller.

If you absolutely want a Samsung device (because there are much more powerful devices within this price bracket)... Well: At the price point at which the A36 is being sold, you can get the A55 while stocks last (at least over here). The two major advantages with the A36 would be stronger signal reception (because of the Qualcomm X62 modem) and two extra years of software support (albeit this will tax the slower storage in the long run). With the A55 you get a more powerful and energy efficient SOC, faster storage, it is a very cool-running device, e-sim support, memory card support, and better camera experience; but you will have to live with the two major disadvantages of the A55 on signal reception strengths and the bulk of the device when compared to the A36.
