Had the A5 2017 for 3 weeks, Dropped it about 2 ft. yesterday and the screen went black. What a hassle. Don't buy this phone, it's too delicate.

      AnonD-718969, 28 Nov 2017Galaxy A5 2017 or Xperia z5? Same price.A5.

Both phones are IP68, Z5 is 2 years older device and Z series will see end of updates.

Even though Z5 is good phone (better for video recording and low light shoots) A5 beat it at pretty much every other aspect.
      Go for A5 '17.

I choose this phone cause the price I had to pay was worth it. After using it for a day, I can see that Samsung cares more about their clients' issues, because the A5 has this feature called "Device maintenance" in settings, where the phone can optimize its performance. In the "Device maintenance", there is also a "Contact us" button, where you get a direct link to Samsung when you are facing an issue. The physical construction of the phone is also really good quality, but that doesn't mean that the motherboard and other components inside are good quality. Except for the SIM & memory card tray and the home button, the outside is made of glass and metal only, including the buttons. The downside of switching from LG G4 to Samsung is the reversed back and opened apps button, the slow response of touch button when you try to tap fast. The all-apps button is not centered, the double-tap feature to turn on the phone is gone, the proximity sensor for turning on the phone is gone and the display is OLED, which doesn't last as long as LCD. There is no notification light. Samsung probably didn't implement the double-tap and the proximity sensor, because they require to be always on in order to function, which degrades the motherboard over time by being mostly idle. Overall, I think that this phone is going in the good direction and that it will most likely last 3 or more years. I heard somewhere that all Samsung phones will be supported for 5 years. Right now, to minimize any hardware issues with the phone in the future, I always keep the power saving mode on with the mid settings, I kept the display at low power, I always check the phone's conditions with the app CPU-Z and Device maintenance. Basically, I make sure that the phone doesn't overheat and I completely turn it off from time to time when I sleep.

The battery life decreased in my case a just a little bit. If somebody has lags or incompatibility problems is because they didn't do a factory reset this is necessary when we install a new update

after I updated everything is fine, just had to reregister finger print as it would not read my print but after that no problems, it runs just like my Samsung galaxy s7 does now, it does install some bloatware but just delete it if you want but there is enough storage to keep it
