I am a Samsung user. Owns A3, Note 3, Note 4 Duos, Note 5 Duos, A9 A9000 and Tab S2 8.0.
I got my A9 a week ago and intend to test it out during my recent travel trip. I used my Note 3 as hotspot.
Here are my findings:
Pros:
~ Duo Sim plus SD Card slot
~ 6 inches screen. Easy reading. But, just slightly bigger than my Notes series. I use an iRing. So one hand operation is not an issue. Can use this as a phone stand when I screen movies.
~ Good speaker.
~ Battery life.
Cons:
~ Screen lag. Quite obvious. Could be because of the larger screen or the 128GB SD Card. I am not sure. Sometimes, the respond can take a second after you touched and select something on the screen. Try gaming with it.... No good.
~ Connectivities to Wi-Fi is not that good. As I am using the Tab S2, side by side, the Tab connected to the hotel wifi without any problem. The A9 struggled a few attempts to get online. Also, the Wi-Fi reception meter shows only 1 bar on the A9 but my Tab has 3.
~ No light indicator. I will have to keep checking for incoming messages.
The above are my findings compared with the rest of the Samsung devices I have.
Conclusion :
It is good to be used as secondary device for reading, movies and as a hotspot. This is what I am going to do with it.

Launched January 2016 and no sign of international availability. This phone is just the right combination of average phone users and packs all the basic requirements of everyday life ... Say decent battery, awesome display, dual sim, FM radio, undoubtedly good camera and more. I wish they push the manufacturing to the next level and release it world wide.

This is our device - we power users! I would take this over the S6 or any other small flagship phone any day-take that to the bank! 6' inch, 4000mAh, Micro-SD slot is just right! We sometimes are to engraved in the specs sheet that we forget to appreciate what's good enough. Not everybody needs Quad HD displays with crappy battery life while 1080P Full HD is more than enough and obsessing over no. of cores does not mean you'll ever need to use all of them even in the most graphic intensive gaming today is misinformed. Bluffing over one little missing feature like LED notification (while you got always on display) makes you look shitty AF. Now back to the Galaxy A9......this phone takes me off the seat because for once Samsung has got it right practically in every angle that matters...recognizing a market for heavy power users and correcting much of the mistakes on HTC One Max&Xperia Z Ultra..oh n' galaxy Mega* Having used the Huawei Mate 7 3GB/32GB&impressed by the spectacular battery life and built quality, I could think of a better replacement back to the Samsung arena. The newer Snapdragon 625 SoC is no slouch&looks really promising. The A9 is not for everybody...it's for grinders..power users like me who can't stand less than 6'' inch for heavy web&media consumption but still need premium device without breaking a sweat of overpriced flagships....!!!
