I got it why such discussions convert into debate. Its just because some people who already bought a phone can't accept that it was not a good buy. I am not at all saying that grand 2 is bad cell or other cell is better than this but all i want to say is that at some point of time if a phone is a good buy and good value for money then after some time its not. Its not going to be the best forever. This technology market is progressing at a very quick pace so only one product cant be expected to be the best buy for a very long period of time. Most of the users are satisfied with grand because they bought it when it was a good buy for its price but change is inevitable and we have to accept that there are better options available now. Same goes for every other brand. Moto g is expected to be a good buy at its price right now but it will not be same after some period of time because better options will be there. So its all about - At the time of buy is that particular phone a best buy or not.? So before buying do a proper search and check for every detail so that you can get best out of your money.

People go with xiaomi for the cheap price , not the quality , I can tell you keep a xiaomi for sale the 13k one , and grand 2 , ur grand 2 will fetch better price as xiaomi is a non starter , but yes , if xiaomi was available , I would purchase it nevertheless as it dirt cheap , though storage and non removable battery I would take with pinch of salt , but if you see xiaomi review on flipkart , users complain it as hot as toaster , cheap quality outer case etc. which tells of quality , but at that price anyone can forgo these things. And yes if you purchase xiaomi , and any defect , ur phone is useless, as minimum repairs will be expensive as you will have to get it done from unauthorised source , or service station if good in service , then ur lucky , another thing it is available very rare on flipkart , u can't spend ages to obtain a mobile , therefore xiaomi is difficult to argue for , the same reason goes to lg pro , I also went to search for this very model , and it was not available outside ( I don't believe much in ecomm. Sites as they are know to provide defective handsets read flipkart and was not available there also ) , lg l90 was available but couldn't go for low screen space - 4.7 and grand 2 had perfect 5.25 inch else if there was an alternative I would go with that brand. Xperia t2 ultra was too big , was wary of Sony support ( your friend is an odd good customer service example ) , let me tell you Xperia t2 had some defects were people felt need to replace for which they did not repair phone , instead they did not admit their fault , where as I was able to replace my grand 2 (auto brightness issue ) phone once , the next grand 2 phone I got fortunately received next day update which sorted out issue.
Forget S.A.R. Rating I have told you it's a really small issue. But I must admit Samsung has generally less S.A.R. Value. Again please do note Samsung has core , grand neo , grand , ace , galaxy y whereas Sony has only Xperia line up of 5-6 phones total , therefore Samsung phones to not receive update are literally double , it shows have quick and advanced Samsung is at releasing mobile hardware , ( just telling you known fact not praising Samsung ) , and again there processors are all similar to Broadcom 1.2 ghz dual core , or some low gen snapdragon , whose direct competitors are not present or barely know to compare software updates , whereas Sony ( gsmarena has taunted Sony as giving there software department holiday ) has Xperia c as a direct example , whereas the same Lenovo p780 and other same processor models have got android 4.4 and to tell you Lenovo ui is extremely heavy than Xperia , and at same price range as Xperia c and still update was not released by Sony , even Xperia sp with more powerful 1.7 ghz cortex a11 ( s4 pro ) dual core with powerful gpu adreno 320 was denied kitkat.
What I am saying is Samsung grand 2 processor is shared with many smartphones , and coupled with 1.5 gb ram it will not have much excuse like it did with s3 , in fact , it will bare open Samsung poor software cycle , and lg poor software update cycle is know , but let us not go into that. Htc is even poor in this regard , specially in mid range. I do get a feeling it might go till android L as last update , but I will not confirm unless Samsung actually does It.
Sony has gone down to cost cutting with li ion but most of these phone still use li poly .

after official updating Samsung Grand 2 in Kitkat, my battery is being low within 5hrs without any call or using data service. How can I prevent this ?

Motorola, xiomi, lenovo they dont have much business in india so their service centres are limited but you will find atleast one service centre in city.But customers are ready to take risks, because they are paying much less for mobile devices.
Best example xiomi sold their redmi 1s twice on flipkart. And both the times mobiles sold out in a second.Same happened with the mi3.I tried my luck clicked within a second but couldn't get success. Risk is worth taking if the device is available at three times lesser cost than big brands with the same specifications(grand 2).
And thats what customers are doing.
Hats off to xiomi teaching a lesson to overpriced brands who want to establish monopoly by overspending on advertisement.
Regarding service quality I don't think except apple others are so great.Sony , samsung almost have same kind of service, u have to wait a lot if your mobile has serious problem. If not repairable they gives you another refurbished mobile not new one . Refurbished definitely used by someone else might have usage marks on screen and body.
So dont expect too much from service centres.
All these are facts and its my genuine endeavours to make people aware of the facts.

Sony is not using lipo batteries anymore. They used in their few devices two years ago.Presently they are using liion.
Regarding non removable batteries. I don't think they are difficult to replace. Actually battery lasts more than year if u use it properly. Its not difficult to visit service centre once in year.
For battery replace service centre does this in few hours or in day.This is the priority work for them.My friend replace his xperia s' s in few hours. Gave it in service centre at 11 a.m.and got back at 5:30pm.And for replacing it service centre dont charge extra cost.
If u have a bit confidence u can replace it yourself.On youtube step by step video's available.
Not all sony, htc, nokia devices have non removable batteries.
Even xiomi redmi 1s rs.6k device (have similar hardware of grand2) have removable battery.
So I don't think so non removable battery should be considered as a big factor while buying.

After all research I came to conclusion that any s.a.r value below 1.6w/kg (for india) is not at all harmful. Even if you use mobiles with s.a.r value of 1.5 for lifetime it will not harm you at all.So what's the problem, every manufacturer has sar value below 1.6.
Xiomi redmi 1s having s.a.r.of 1.2 which is very acceptable.
Regarding lg g pro , I just compare it because one member hasim asked twice which one is better. Otherwise I never compare different segment devices.

Three years ago I had bought samsung s plus for rs.22k.Though the set is so expensive samsung denied any update by giving excuse that ics update supports only dual core cpu.while sony has given ics update to its many single core devices.
Samsung always gives excuses.They really dont care about their low and midrange customers.

I don't think Samsung is better at giving updates.
I have considered only low and midrange devices.
Most of the high end devices get atleast two updates so not considered.
Sony devices which didn't get any update
There are approx.only five devices-
Experia play, c,experia e , experia miro and sony experia tipo.
Samsung devices which didn't get any update
Ace, ace duos, ace 3, , galaxy s plus,galaxy y, y duos, y plus,s duos1, s duos 2,core 1,Trend 1, trend 2, grand quattro, grand neo,galaxy fame etc etc
Sony devices which did get one update
Xperia go, Xperia x10, xperia x10 mini, , Xperia sola, , Xperia e1 dual, Xperia j, , Xperia m, , Xperia l, , Xperia u, , Xperia neo v,neo l , Xperia arc,xperia sp, , xperia zr.
Samsung devices which did get one update-
Galaxy s,sl,mega, grand 1,galaxy r, ace 2, ace plus.
Xperia c is cheaper in price than grand 2 , it shares the price range of 14 k with the grand neo who also didn't get any update as well.
xperia l and galaxy core shares same price range but Xperia l got update while core didn't get.
Samsung s duos , s duos 2 didn't get any update while xperia m and xperia e1 dual did get update who shares the same price range.
You can see samsung havent given updates to more than 50% of their devices though their hardware is much supporting.
While sony denied updates to only five devices till date.
Actually android roms supports all kind of hardware.Even single core device can run kitkat or lolipop.But unsupporting hardware is the excuse given by manufacturers specially samsung. Thats why despite having supporting hardware grand 1 didn't get kitkat. Because samsung gives nothing or just one update to its low and midrange devices. Its a thumb rule of samsung.You can apply it to any low and midrange Samsung device.Now grand 2 got one update.Will not get android l thats for sure.I can bet on it.

Why it has only 8 GB internal storage? Its have to contain 16 GB. AFTER UPDATED IT HANG VERY BADLY..why price is very rich..pls try to keep the price range under 15000..

Hi All ,
when the phone was upgraded to kitkat OS from jelly bean , i am facing GPS issue . Even though i am on a open terrace phone doesn't lock the satellites it simply shows "searching for GPS" and never ends but when i was using jelly bean it hardly took 10 seconds to lock satellite .
Is it a software bug ? Is there any solution found for this issue ? when would Samsung will be releasing a fix for this issue ?
Does anyone contacted Samsung support if so what is their feedback .
Awaiting your suggestions .

Aviv , I am not personally attacking you , just telling you the mindset of Samsung buyers , why out of compulsion , or half choice ( non removable battery , poor or no service , non reputable brand name in india , poor camera ( lg , Sony with Similar 8mp camera is poor than grand 2 camera , in fact gsmarena themselves have said close to excellent daylight photos , though lg 8mp of l90 is good ) , non expandable storage space in many models ) are the reasons , though s.a.r. Is really small factor , but I just made a point , overall as per the provided list you see Samsung phones on an average have lower s.a.r. Values then phones of other brands , and yes amoled is the best screen despite it negative point , it has excellent contrast , and punchy colours and it is in fact next gen technology , grand 2 has also display as negative point , also it does not have 2 nd microphone , and it should atleast had Slcd like mega 6.3 with ips like contrast.
Other handset providers definitely give more bang for buck , and Samsung definitely devalue their own phones having devalued grand 2 of 8 k in just 8 months. So I definitely agree your that point but the other factors as explained is what Samsung is banking upon and customers go for , otherwise Samsung would have gone down fast rapidly if not for the above advantages.

Aviv , let us talk fact , that I am telling fact when I spoke of S.A.R. Rating. You got the note figures , and you check the latest flagship of Sony , lg , xiaomi , etc. you see , the Samsung series have low S.A.R. Since last 3 years.sony , lg have started to achieve grand 2 figures now .
Again , stop getting personal and accusing me of getting money from Samsung , I am not some Samsung employee , I also told you to check my last few comments , they are all critique of grand 2 updates , which has not cleared the HDR and CPU cap on power saver issue.
Samsung has removable battery lion though lipoly is better because of fast charge cycle and longer battery life , li poly has fast degrade cycle and last 3 years ( personal experience ) , after which battery life is reduced or it stops working , again we are always in fear anytime the battery is off , we will have to rush to service CENTER , who will replace battery after month ( in case of Sony ) , whereas sam battery is available at many local electronic stores at good rates.
These are know benifits of sam and the reason people invest , let me tell you wihile purchasing grand 2 I had nexus 5 in mind was available if I invested just 4k more , but poor battery life , and inbuilt battery , and non expandable storage were turn off , again display resolution did not count in mind , but whether it will be practical to use.
Lg Optimus g pro is very rare and it is costing 27k , grand 2 you can get at 18 k it is totally diff. Price range , it is not seen even on flipkart , if anyone is lucky and getting it at 18 k , then very good he must purchase lg not consider grand 2.
Again , Samsung though gave very little software update to grand you must remember , grand had poor specs , even galaxy s3 with far better specs has not got kitkat. Grand with 1.2 Broadcom a9 dual core with 1 gb ram has not got 4.3 or kitkat , s3 with cortex a9 quad has not got kitkat . Again there are very few phones , which have similar specs to give kitkat , but the case with grand 2 is diff. , it has same processor as moto g and there are many similar processor phones , out now in market , it wiill with 1.5 gb ram be always compared with those phones on software updates ( the very reason sammy rushed like.. To release kitkat on grand 2 before perfecting the same , as t2 ultra with only 200 MHz and meagre 1 gb ram was going to get kitkat update , being 1.5 gb they will have less excuse not to update to android l and as per CPU benchmark - quadrant the CPU of grand 2 is between note 2 and Samsung galaxy s4 , hence it is very close to obtaining android L unless Samsung Rudely drops L and Samsung credibility will go down because same moto g will have android L. With 1 gb ram , same is not case of s3 and first grand as explained above.
Sony and lg is very poor at providing software update , they have only 2-3 updates an year , whereas samm. Has so far released 8 updates on grand 2 , though I admit sammy needs to improve its software updates quality which is with bugs as far as grand 2 is concerned , again Sony has dropped kitkat for Xperia c which is absolute rude ( Lenovo with same processor and ram has updated all it handsets to kitkat , moto effects )
Apple is diff. League altogether , the less we include apple the better , it's stability can rarely if possible be matched with other OEMs , though S.A.R. Is high , I am an apple product admirer , and though they will give even minimum it will be of high quality , which other OEMs don't understand , but regarding service Samsung is definitely next to apple , tell me how many Motorola service exist , Lenovo , xiaomi exists.

And screen quality really does makes difference.
Its not much about pixel density but about contrast ratio and colour reproduction quality where samsung lcd's fall back.
Samsung is cunning in marketing. They know customers nerves.They know the lazy attitude of the customers.They know most of the people dont know technical things.Customers get easily influenced by the advertisement. They know if we sell any crap tomorrow customers will buy it.
Some people on this forum feel proud in saying that no one does analysis and comparison before buying. Manufacturers are talking due advantage of this mentality. Customers mentality should change.
I am not criticising all samsung mobiles but those which are not value for money. I have criticised sony and other brand mobile as well.
And getting little knowledge of hardware, , display and other technical things dont require huge efforts.
Only little search and comparison saves money and avoids further disappointment.
And if we not criticising them for bad thing, they will keep bringing such overpriced mobiles.
Xiomi, , Motorola, , micromax doing very good job by bringing their mobiles at very lower cost.
Last week samsung asia head said chinese manufacturers are eating their profits.He was saying about xiomi and motorola indirectly.
If this trends goes on further samsung will think twice before launching their mobiles at overpriced rates . Definitely customers will be benefited by this.
Thats what we want.

If u compare same pri... moreWell Guys...do you really think a person using a handset do really put everything in their minds before buying it...huh...please visit the threads for MotoG, Sony, Nokia...Xiaomee(whatever).you will always find users who has positive feedback and negatives as well...Do a normal user think what should be the SAR value, how much should be PPI, Does a human eye really able to recognise if 20 PPI is more...shit...guys the technology upgrades everyday and a lifecycle of a handset has reduced like max 60 days...then something pops up with a better specs and lower price...I am using this set from 2 months or so...I didnt find any issues...all good...actually people tend to think that they are developers and try to experiment everything on it...well for them samsung/sony/nokia are not your cup of tea...guys spend 25k more for a apple..and I guess they will start complaining for it as well..

I was talking about lg g pro 1 e 985. If u compare same price range of grand2 sony, lg have better displays.
And as I said in earlier post their flagship handsets (s and note series) are good.
Regarding service except apple no one is better in service even samsung is not good at it.

Regarding multi view-how many people really used it is a question because annoying white notch always visible on left side of the screen which diverts attention off the screen.
And whether it is wise to spend thousands of rupees just for this one feature by comprising on other factors.

Typical orthodox mentality I am using samsung so it is best others using other brand so that is bad.
And by the below 1.6 w/kg sar value even if it is 1.5/kg you use the mobile for your whole it will not harm you.
Everything below 1.6w/kg is harmless whether it is 1.5 or 0.1.You don't seem technical sound.I have done my study well but I think you don't have.

Aviv why are you assuming there is no android L for grand 2 , Samsung has not released anything as yet , and grand 2 has faster processor and similar and bit better graphics than note 2 , s3 , there have been hanging problems with s3 because of s3 ram , though I should have purchased note 2 over grand 2 because of other benefits including better oled screen but then note 2 was 6 k more at time of my purchase it is now that note3 neo has come down by 7k - 8k, and oled screen have one big issue ( that's the reason I though otherwise and they are not official declared the best ) that is they display untrue tone , I.e. dull photos and videos with noticeable bluish tone whereas the ips led backlit type producers sharper and accurate photos , movies of vibrant background ( see lg nexus 5 vs Samsung s5 display comparison on google ) , were nexus 5 display is a thumps up.
