Overall, budgetary phone with good specifications but only one problem is that it has very short internal memory.

I'm thinking of buying a Samsung J3. The specification listing here (Comms) indicates that this phone supports USB-OTG, which, for a phone in this price range is surprising. Samsung Support tells me that it doesn't, which isn't surprising. However, manufacturers typically make it very difficult to find any information at all about OTG, so often the support answer is "no" based on they can't find anything that says "yes."

Can someone please confirm or deny this feature? You don't actually have to be using it, though if you're using it with an audio device like a USB microphone or audio interface (which is what I'd like to be able to do) that would be a plus. Another common use is to connect a USB thumb drive.

There are several apps that will check a device for the presence of USB support. I use one called "OTG?" If someone who has one of these phones would kindly run that app or your choice for an alternate one, and report the result, I'd really appreciate it. I'd try it myself, but stores won't let you install apps until you buy the phone.

And to the GSMArena editors - if it really doesn't support OTG, please correct the listing. You're one of the few resources that seems to at least know that the feature exists, and I appreciate that, and hope it's accurate.

        Thanks

AnonD-674081, 02 Jun 2017It IS usable, doesn't have 2gb's of ram tho, only 1,5. Dail... morea lot of store points out to me "If you can spend more or save a bit more, get J5 instead."

J1~3 is a "smartphone", not a good one but it is a "Android Smartphone". "Samsung" android smartphone nonetheless.
It's for people who just need a smartphone (Samsung branded~!) but didn't care much about how it perform as long as it can perform.

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy J3 one month ago. Two days ago the screen went black. Eventually we got it to switch on again, but the screen was "inky". I returned it to Office Works who told me this could only happen by being dropped. It has never been dropped. Samsung also refused to do anything. Upon looking on line I see that this has been a constant issue with Samsung, even cracking when in a person's pocket, for which they continue to blame the purchaser. I've seen phones dropped, get a crack, and still keep working. Never again. Sad,they can continue to sell faulty products to people who can ill afford to be ripped off.

What is the output power? I guess not 2W. With J320FN when I drive a car through the city (Zagreb) have interference. While with the old phones work without interference. The network is 219 01

n, 24 May 2017When will the phone be upgraded to 6.0 Whatever version of Android your phone came with, that's probably what you're stuck with. This is a low-end phone, and Samsung often doesn't give them as much attention as their flagship devices.

Samsung claims that they are providing quarterly security patches, but sometimes they fail to deliver on that schedule. (http://security.samsungmobile.com/introsm.html)

Personally, my J3 (2016) shipped with Marshmallow, but it hasn't seen a security patch since January 1.
