I had a notification on Samsung members app informing us about the aproximate date of the update to Android Pie 9.0 on Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 (August 2019). Seems unbelievable that more expensive models are stuck in the previous version of Android. Let me ask you something people! Should we proceed to a factory reset after the update ot there's no need to?

It's really true who has the J5 2017 to have Android Pie 9.0 with One UI.The A5 2017 seems to be stuck on Android Oreo 8.0.0

It looks to be a great phone and has all the features I want -- except for one! It doesn't have the frequencies used to pump out the 3G and 4G signals in rural Australia; particularly in my area. I have three towers in close proximity to my residence, yet I can't get any signal. Anyone would think I live in a Faraday cage.
I really thought we had gone past the old 'stand on one leg on the roof of your home with one arm raised and wearing an Alfoil signal attractor on your head'.
I think I'll go back to my old flip-phone. It may not be smart but at least I can use it to make calls. The J5 Pro I have recently purchased does everything BUT make phone calls.

Hi guys, friend of mine updated to Oreo and she is complaining that her dual SIM contact-list setup got broken, contacts lost the relationship to names, only shows numbers on one SIM, for the other SIM sometimes incoming number and name don't correspond with reality. Similar issue anyone? Fix recommended please? Thank you in advance

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2018Hi, can someone who's using this phone for a longer period ... moreHey there! I drop my phone a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. And after dropping it every 10 seconds it didn't even have a scratch on the screen. But after it fell outside on road from around 1.5 meter the diplay wwnt nuts. The screen didn't break but the display kinda died so I had it changed and now it works perfectly. Hope this helps you 😁

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2018Hi, can someone who's using this phone for a longer period ... moreI've been using this phone for more than year and display is still alive. I use a silicone housing, because the aluminium body is slippery. This is main disadvantage of the phone. But overall I am satisfied.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2018Hi, can someone who's using this phone for a longer period ... moreI think it's less fragile than a S8/S9 but definitely more fragile than a S4/S5 to compare with.
Great phone for simple usage (spotify/web/messages/calling)
battery lasts up to 3 days

Apart from this ''app size'' problem that mentioned before, I can't connect to my hotmail account via samsung email app. I don't know who is to blame for (I mean the developers of the samsung email app or anyone else) but the majority of people I know have this issue after update to android 8.1. Even after the factory reset I did. Also there is also an issue with app notifications. You will find yourselves struggling to check and adjust every single notification but you will get used to it after a while. In addition, a week ago, I noticed a problem with location in google maps and I had to open settings, change the detection method and then find my location, something that never happened in android 7.0. I have to do this every time I want to see my location. Finally, RAM consumption much better here (I have 700 MB free whatsoever) and battery life is overall the same.
