Yesterday I got my hands on my friend's Gionee X1. It has a Quad-core MT 6737 cpu clocked at 1.3 Ghz, coupled with 2 gigs of ram. I'm not a fan of brands like Gionee, Xolo, Oppo......blah blah blah. But guess what, I was left surprised and hugely disappointed at the same time! Surprised?? Why? Because it could multitask like a champ!! Despite having only 2 gigs of ram and a fairly modest Quad core cpu!! I installed 'Samsung Internet beta' from play store, opened up 7 tabs, switched to different apps, and still it kept all 7 tabs in memory!! They didn't reload! Likewise, it kept every single app in it's memory! No reloading!! I was like, shell-shocked! And did I say that Gionee X1 runs 7.0 Nougat too?
If a phone like Gionee X1, with similar configurations can handle multitasking so efficiently, why not our J7 2016?? Doesn't it have an even more capable octa-core processor clocked higher than 1.3 Ghz?? I am stumped as to why it reloads apps/web-pages as often as it does. It's beyond me.
Yes, it used to multitask quite well on Marshmallow. Now it sucks at multitasking. While other phones running Nougat can still multitask just fine. I'm a big fan of Samsung. But I have to admit I'm left disappointed. Expected better from Samsung

I got the same version as you, but mine was unlocked and I bought it from the store than was not connected with any carrier. Only thing you can do is wait for the update to start rolling out.

Even though the phone feels fairly fast when it comes to day-to-day usage, it sometimes struggles to keep even a single app in memory (like YouTube), reloads it as soon as we switch back from another app. That's kind of disappointing tbh, because this phone has 2 gigs of ram. I don't expect it to be a multitasking monster, but 2 gigs of ram should be good enough to keep 3-4 apps running in the background simultaneously.

Multi tasking is worst after nougat update it don't remember previous task in the background for less than one minute.it start reloading those apps when I come back from one another app.

I m fed up...becoz j2 has better front camera than j7 6....whether there is same 5 mp camera....samsung should focus to give better front camera....there 8 mp frnt camera is weaker than mi 5mp front

Anyone who says Marshmallow is buggy, that's not true. Either they have a faulty device, or they needed to perform a factory reset
