I don't know why but can somebody please tell me why the audio sounds wet? Please? It's driving me nuts. I need headphones to stop this, but it gets even worse at some point in time. Also the camera is awesome! It took great pictures which I sent to family members. They were amazed with perfect quality, and I also loved the video playback. The storage was good, gaming ran good with moderate and/or light-heavy use. Otherwise, things went pretty great so far.

But by watching your price ranges i would say this phone is better compared to realme.
If the old m21 you found is in good condition then it can be used for next 2 years easily if it is in good condition.
I am using android since 2013.
My current phone is 3rd one which i will use till 2025 or more years if it stays usable, was bought in year 2020.
But all 3 phone i used was bought by me was new devices.
I bought an old phone with around 25 USD in year 2012 and it costed me another 25 USD for many repairs, because of that experience i never bought old phones since then.
I know some people buy old phones but in today's era buying old smarphones are more risky.

It don't gave me problem like that you are telling.
The problem you are mentioning happened with others phone but not because of 100% charging, that is for sure.
It happened with others phone because of some other reason like SOC overheating or something else for sure.

I could get this phone used for around $50. Is it still recommended for 2023? At least for 1 to 2 years ahead. Or should I get a used realme 5 Pro for around $60 to $70?

Never not a good phone at all,despite being full of top notch specifications for a reasonable price at the same time the body build quality of the phone and in other words the phone itself is totally trash and rubbish
Don't buy this!!! Litelery you get something much inferior than you expect

Please don't fully charge your M21, Restart problom will occur when you charge 100%, maintain it within 85% you will be fine

After android 12 update , motherboard got ruined had to spend 6000rs to get it done again.
Works smoothly.

After 3 years still working very well. Since Android update to version 12, I set up charging level at 85% percent. I hope will last at least another two years.
