Precisely. Old flagship class or flagship alike phones are always better than new midrange phones in most of the fields (except new Android versions and new wifi, hotspot and and other software features, charging features).

Yes if you upgrade to an S Series phone, not mid ranger. Photo quality is better than all mid rangers, even today, including night mode. Software will be better on later Samsung devices due to more features added on newer One UI versions.
