Note 5 = 7.6m,no MicroSD slot
A8 (Samsung thinness phone) = 5.9mm,support microSD slot
The A8 is so much cheaper than Note 5.
Of course processor and display wise not so good but seriously A8 is more worthy of Samsung "flagship" tittle

"Neglecting" the absent of sd slot and removable battery, don't you think this still the best Note Samsung could give. I think they just want to make glass phone at least once just to put into their history book. We certainly don't want to hear people saying "You never make glass back phone what do you know?"

Note 5 doesn't hold any significant advantage over iPhone.

It's funny to see fans comment here on supporting the no micro sd slot and non removable battery implementation from Samsung.
Suddenly, all these feature that are removed from previous generation are consider as "improvement".
We want the real Samsung please, not the one that imitating iPhone.
The micro sd slot, removable battery, and Android OS openness are the reason I choose Samsung. Now I have to look else where, LG G4 is the only Samsung imitator here?

What I'm trying to imply is that thicker is better and Samsung should learn from HTC. And about the thick bezel thing, I am okay with that too. That why I said its HTC trademark. Its the only thing that differentiate them from the rest of the smartphone market. Everyone else busy with bezel-free design while HTC stick to their design. Yes, Taiwanese brand. I'm also half Taiwanese and we still considered ourselves chinese, as in a 'race'. :p

Oppo R7 Plus is nearly as thin as Note 5 too, but still included with micro SD slot.
So Samsung only excuse to remove the micro SD slot is just by being thinner than others?

Making the phone thinner by competition doesn't means it feel better in hand.
I know those thin phone look cool, but not really good in handling for real life usage.
9mm thick is just on the center part, but it is much thinner on the side. The design enforce on the curve back, which improve the ergonomic in hand. Being the thinnest in the market doesn't means it is a better phone. I know it is not having the thinness bezel, but it is not that thick either, you still can use it with one hand easily, but just distract your eye, where you can't show it with your friend, and people surrounding you of because of thick bezel and thick dimension.
And HTC is Taiwanese brand, not Chinese brand.

Their phone always look bulky with super thick bezel which is their trademark. I noticed how their flagship never be made thinner than 9mm. They proved thicker is better. 1. This is the advantage of the removable battery, and it is implemented on all the phone before iPhone. Nothing wrong if you remove battery if the phone hang. Removing battery is to cut of the power, similar to how phone with non-removable battery work by long pressing the power button to cut of power. Forget those user manual. This technique has been practiced to all phone with removable battery long before phone being made with non-removable battery. Then, you can also swap out the battery easily if the battery is dead, spare battery come handy here. Forget those big and heavy power bank. Then for non-removable battery dead scenario, your only option is to send it back to shop or service center to get it changed, and you have to be patiently wait it to be changed, it may take days or weeks, leaving you in a condition where you cannot use the phone.
2. I know it is possible to bring out your heavy hard drive, small USB thumb drive , and OTG cable for all the memory stuff. But compare to Micro SD card, which one is more portable and practical? What if you forget to bring out your big and heavy hard drive, small USB thumb drive, and also forget to bring the OTG cable? By the way, Micro SD card is inserted to the phone, much smaller form factor, and can be operated with much lower power consumption. OTG consume much more battery to power up the USB device. You decide which one is the better option.
3. Regarding the sim card type, this one is debatable. But imho, micro sim is much easier to be handled, where nano sim need to be inserted with sim tray, and you need an ejecting tools to eject the tray. Micro sim on the other hand, can be designed by just inserting the sim card to the sim slot, and cover the sim by back over, or some flaps, save for any sim ejecting tools. I have owned both phone with micro and nano sim, and I found the nano sim tray is of stupid design, where if you miss handle it, making the tray broken, or missing the sim tray, you won't able to insert the sim card anymore. I know you can buy the sim tray after market, but wouldn't the micro sim slot is much less troublesome? where micro sim tray is non-removable, and it can be inserted by pressing the sim into it easily without any possible hazard of missing part? Nano sim is not that much smaller than Micro sim, but the disadvantage is more than a micro sim. Again, you judge on the practicality.

Take a look at HTC, they omitted the removable battery, but they bring back the expandable memory option, so it is not an excuse of uni body design to exclude the memory slot. And HTC has been remarkably recognized to have the best build quality on Android camp that challenge iPhone, which utilizing uni body metal design.
I know the phone can work faster on their new build in memory, but it is not an excuse to totally omitted the Micro SD slot.

I was looking forward to the release of graphene batteries which are up to 10 times the capacity of li-ion but knowing Samsung now they'll make the battery as small as possible so you still get barely a day's use just so they can make the phone 1mm thick.

Comparing up to 2 previous generations of Note, overall I have mixed feeling for this Note5, but let me elaborate why:
1. I'm ok with the idea of having internal storage of 128GB, means that you have 128GB of space where you install all your apps (not all apps can be installed in SDCard), compared to previous Notes which only have 16GB or 32GB. So, instead of drawback, I consider this as an improvement. I own Note3 and iPhone6+, definitely like the iPhone6+ 128GB internal storage, although it lacks of access thanks to iOS.
2. The 3000mAh Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) is different than Lithium-Ion (Li-ion), thinner and even though more expensive, it will be the future of battery for anything that is thin, like a smartwatch. Actually Li-Po became more popular earlier than Li-Ion. But we don't need the current Note to be thin, unless if they can make it like a hologram from a watch. The current size of Note3 and Note4 is best using Li-Ion, if Note5 is the same as Note3 and Note4 size, why bother changing the battery? and why 200mAh less than previous battery?
I can't answer this. Obviously the Li-Ion is the winner for this size of phone.
I just don't like the idea of charging my battery with bulky powerbank (or even using a casing with built in powerbank). Too much drawback if you have to use powerbank. I've been using spare batteries for my Note3 and I find it to be the minimum level between practicality and convenient. The iPhone6+ have a great battery management thanks to its iOS, its definitely more superior than Android's, but you just hate it if you forgot to charge the phone at night and woke to find your phone with 20% battery and no time to charge that day, hence in this case, using spare battery is the best practice, that's why I love Note3 and I have like 3 spare batteries. feels like holding a few ammunition magazine ready to use. Maybe if they could create removable Li-Po battery like the size of credit card, and you can store them in your wallet, that would be great.
IF, Note5 irremovable battery can at least match or beat iPhone6+ in endurance and stress test, I might consider Note5.

As any logical person would know, the glass back is utterly useless against accidental drops. Yes, get the F****** case - again a counter to the sleek look that Samsung is going after - copying a PAST iPhone design.
So, Samsung, can you just stop with all this silliness of fragile hipster designing? Can you now get your contingent REAL Note5 version for the real Galaxy Note users like me? Preferably with the removable battery and memory expansion.
