Frankly speaking its a good set, you can't buy a Merc with a few dollars. Quality means money.

TCool, 12 Sep 2017Just like when you exaggerate the non-removable battery. B... moreNo comparison. For almost two years now, I have been using a 10,000 mAh extended battery and have no worries about being able to spend up to 12 hours SOT, with two days heavy use.

All reviews of the Note8 points to just around 5 hours SOT, and my experience with the Note7 is the same SOT, but will only last me with a 12 hours upkeep. Most of us are or of the house more than 15 hours. That just means we have to plug in before going home, or carry powerbanks, or always carry a charger.

This is not the progress of battery technology I had in mind. I can still quote you on how you championed removable batteries. S/

Going to be tough going to a smaller device. Have a Lenovo Phab 2. Same screen height but about an inch wider.
Have played with the Note 8. Feels tiny and oblong.

I remember that P-series with the touchscreen, stylus, flip keyboard (P910 had a numberpad and QWERTY on either sides!), they were real beasts and it was so entertaining and interesting to watch them face-off with the Nokia Communicators.

I couldn't afford any of those as we were in college but all brands had such strong identities- different design, different OS, features, displays. Today it's a clone market, like same wine in same bottles with different labels :(

I like the stylus on the Samsong Note 8 phone. It is compatible on their tablets, which have in-built s-pen? e.g. Note 10.1

What are my alternatives for a stylus based phone?

I noticed Motorola seem to have a couple of models, but I don't know what else is available?

Phones are getting bigger. Many years ago, before the iPhone. SonyEricson had the P800, P900 and P910, which were all stylus based phones. It is a shame they never updated these phones to Android. They had both keyboard and stylus. A real business phone. But they used Symbian. These phones even had a wheel on the side, which made scrolling nicer.... Today, all these phones manufacturers are copying each other.... with no creativity or trying out different designs and concepts......

It's muscle memory where it is. I tried it with both S8+ and Note8. It's okay. The "pro" reviewers are exaggerating this to be a problem. It's not.

Iris scanner unlock is very fast, even on low light. You can always go Google Smart Lock. Sheesh.

I was torn between this or the LGV30. I've saved up a bit of cash so money isn't really an issue, however I'd still like value for money. I've decided to preorder the Note 8. I'm sure the LGV30 will be a solid phone but still too many question marks surrounding it. The 5MP front-facing camera is trash, and Ars Technica found problems with the OLED display. I've also never had an LG phone before so it would be unknown waters for me. Note 8 isn't perfect, the fingerprint position hasn't been fixed but overall it's the best phablet on the market.
