My Note8's display suddenly has become yellowish and the colors look very pale. Sometimes it gets back to normal, but then again becomes yellowish and washed out. I can still use the screen perfectly fine. It is too expensive too replace the display in my country, as screen replacement costs the same as a new mid-range phone...

Has this happened to anyone else, did you find any solution to it?

I'm using it currently in 2023. I'm sattisfied with device but before this i was using a23, what i lack is battery issue, it's less 3300mah. If it had great battery it would still rule and a issue by samsung itself they don't provide much updates on flagship phones. they control sales by not posting further updates so device get outdated and people've to buy new phones to get up-to-date

Still working flawlessly, even updating apps on the background, no issue. Maybe a couple hiccups here and there, the apps are getting heavier too, still It's a great phone, turning 6 years old coming October.

The Note8 doesn't have good battery life due to the Note7 of the year pirror. 3300mAh is not 4000 on the Note9.

Big phone, 2 cameras, small battery due to the Note7 incident.

The Note8 is the first Samsung phone to concise 2 cameras on the back and the first Samsung phone to pass 6.1" of screen. The Note8 is massive to hold (bigger than the S21 which will be my next phone) and I like it for some reason. I've used this phone because my S8 got too damaged to keep using it, still wished I got a Note10+ and not this. The Note8 in 2023 is still a dream to use (2 cameras, custom rom support to keep it going, big like the S23 Ultra). The Note8 is still worth buying (for the most part). Cameras are great on this even in 2023, I've taken so much photos with mine and they always turn out great. I still daily drive it in 2023, it's been legit everywhere and been through everything. I'd get a OtterBox for this phone and a screen protecter becuase this phone is far from durable. Point is, buy it if you want.

You lose some functionality (no s-pen I think) but the rest is all Android 13 based. You might want to check it out if you want to keep using this phone longer

I love this phone! I have had it for several years. It is still in almost pristine condition. Everything is working fine.. charge still lasts all day... BUT one of my banking apps just notified me that later this month, their app will not run on Android 9. Is there any way to update my Android on this phone? I do not want to have to give up this phone I love. Most new phones don't have headphone jacks or SD cards-- two things I refuse to give up on a mobile phone.

Bought Note 8 when it came out in 2017.

After a couple months had problems with it not charging and saying the charging port was wet. It wasn't, never dropped in water or really ever gotten rained on and I don't live in a tropical rain forest. That problem slowly disappeared.

Around the one year mark I noticed the keyboard was starting to burn in and it was out of warranty. This made no sense since I don't even text. Only time I use it is to take notes or to type into search boxes when I am away from home. Keeping the screen bright must really take a toll on these screens.

Two years in or so the fingerprint reader started becoming finicky then continued to get worse. Have since stopped using it but just tried and couldn't get it to work. With some very firm pressure it would try to read but would say "NO MATCH."

Three years in and the stylus removal button broke off. Luckily when it did the pen popped out of the phone because I use it to take notes. Not wanting it locked into the phone I leave it out which became a problem when I sat on it and broke the short "Samsung" part off. It still works but can't be put in the phone. Accidentally put it in the phone and the problem isn't that is won't come out but that it won't stay in! Thought buying a replacement from China off eBay was a good cheap idea but boy was I wrong. Didn't fit (way too tight), the button cover on the side fell off and disappeared, the button to put it in and out of the phone broke off and as a bonus the stylus doesn't even work right on the screen. It acts like it is clicking a button over and over rapidly.

Sometime after this the charging port started acting up. Once in awhile it just wouldn't start charging. That has progressed to the point now that only two out of maybe ten charging cables in the house are even capable of charging the phone. I use one high power one that once it starts charging I gently hit the off button to turn off the screen and never even let a breeze hit it.

The battery on the other hand is phenomenal. I stick to the 80/20 charge/discharge as much as possible and it has served me well. A full charge (80%) still lasts me through the day and I am not sure how to check to see what percent of original it is but I'm guessing pretty high.

A little over a year ago the texting/phone call/battery burn problem started. There is one person I text who doesn't have a real phone and as you try to type the cursor all of a sudden jumps to the front of the text. Makes it nearly impossible to do a long text at all. Sometimes it backs all the way out of the text. If you get the text complete and try to send it there is a high probability it won't go through the first, second, third, etc time. Just keep trying. Incoming texts are not affected.

At the same time certain phone numbers will not be able to call you at all and some you won't be able to call. When this happens the once a day charging becomes three times. This problem is random and won't happen for a week or two, then all of a sudden for a few days it does. This is super documented on the web and a somewhat common problem that happens with flagship Samsung phones I believe maybe through the S21.

Have gone through a couple cases and screen protectors. One of them didn't do a great job and there is a small almost unnoticeable crack in the bottom corner. Didn't effect rest of screen at that time. Within the last year the top third of my screen has decided it didn't like my finger and looks great but doesn't respond. Oddly the stylus still works up there. That has now progressed to the top half of my screen not working with finger touch. The slightly cracked corner is not where things are not working.

What do I really like? The cameras are great. They have features I haven't even tried but they blow away my new low-mid range 5G phone from another brand.

What is the worst part? BIXBY and the bixby button. It boggles my mind that they decided to force that down peoples throats. Accidentally hitting the button ends up wasting plenty of time as I have to go in and stop all the bixby services as well. It can't be disabled and along with a bunch of other bloatware restarts every time you restart your phone. Costs me about ten minutes going in and shutting down all the garbage I don't want/need running, much of which you should be able to disable.

Was also totally unimpressed by the 4x4 mimo setup. That along with TMO advertised way too much coverage made me think I'd have 4G LTE almost anywhere. That is a big joke. Western Kansas and eastern Colorado have virtually no coverage for nearly three hours of a drive. TMO map had it completely covered.

Would I but another Samsung flagship? Definitely not at this time. I'd rather be disappointed by a cheap phone then one that I just payed close to a thousand dollars for.
