mauro, 09 Feb 2021Ps: personal question, can you send/receive MMS by the SGN9... moreExtremely unpleasant situation.
I also regret that my previous post - because of the weekend - wasn't posted here earlier. I could have suggested to you then to check out at least on YT "Galaxy Note 9 teardown ifixit" section (JerryRig..+Wit Rigs, etc.) what the presenters say about the guts of the device. Maybe then you would choose a different path ...
In connection with the greenish color of the display, at the moment I only know that one of the FW updates had such an effect and it concerned models with Snapdragon.
If the display on your phone did respond to normal touch right after the drop, it means was OK, so the question is, were the phone drop and motherboard dampness (whence and how?) related to each other? And what does your update have to do with it?
In my opinion, the tumble mutilated the electrical connectors to the display or inside the display itself. The S Pen has a much greater electrical potential than the fingers (skin), so despite the weakened electrical connectors, the display responded to it.
Even if after the tumble unsealing has there occurred and in your location is now high humidity, the interior moisture indicator could show it then.
I'm afraid that to assume anything what's next, the display should be diagnosed with the appropriate equipment - wait for the opinion of the other tech magician.
You should also consider sending your phone to an authorized service center for expertise.
Good luck.
Ps: THX - so sending / receiving MMS without data transmission constantly On is dependent from phone's Region.

farkadi..I think one of those independent magicians like you call them ended up messing up my sgn9 even more. I took the phone yesterday to one of those rapair places hoping they will al least discover what was going with the display being unresponsive to finger touch but working fine with spen..the guy offered me reinstalling the firmaware. He said he downloaded it from samsung mobile. After installing it, the phone was still facing the same issue. So he said he would need to open it and take a look inside. He said the phone will no longer be able to be ip68 capable after being opened. I agreed..when he could finally get inside the sgn9, he showed me the phone had some traces of moisture..humidity.. Mostly around mother board and the wifi chpset. He said he found it amazing that the phone screen still worked with the spen..and that in a few weeks the display would stop being responsive even to the spen as well. So again he offered me another solution which consisted in apply a bit of isopropyl alcohol with a toothbrush to remove those traces of moisture that looked like whitish..so I agreed. And so he carefully started wiping,,cleaning,,removing those whitish little moisture traces. When done, the phone´s motherboard,,connectors and shipset at least looked better cleaner. So the guy turned on the phone and surprise..now the phone not only was unresponsive to figer touch but now the display had a greenish color. I was so frustrated..I complained that before opened it and cleaned it, the phone at least had the screen and its correct colors..but now I have a screen that looks totally green and still working with the spen though. He said he warned me that it was a failed display and that it was just a matter of time to stop working. He said he was not able to check the phone further from that point because he dind´t have the correct equipment or tools..but he was going to tell the case to a guy who is more expert and has all the tools needed..asked me to call back tomorrow to get an update.

mauro, 05 Feb 2021not sure what DeviceKeystring is..?? I took the sgn9 to a ... moreIt's seems the Admin didn't accept my guidance in response to your post before.
It"s a pity!
Let's see how it will be now; Sun 20:00.
Hello.
The "DeviceKeystring" in the manufacturer's terminology is the basic designation of the product and, above all, its firmware - after selecting the code *#1234#, information about the "AP", "CP" and "CSC" of the device will be displayed - for your needs "AP" = "PDA".
When you connect to sammobile; "samsung_galaxy-note9_firmware_#SM-N960F..." (where "_"="/") then you can find there the firmware version for your country based on your "CSC" or "AP" ie. "PDA" - according to the nomenclature of the website;
the 2 letters following the full 5 characters phone model number indicate the country code, subsequent characters indicate the bootloader version and date of issue.
CSC"-"Country Specific Code"; it refers to customizations, here the 3 letters following the full phone designation indicate the region/country, localization, language, operator's settings e.g. branding, etc.
Find your country on the website (it can be marked in several places), tap there on the name of the country, on the reloaded page tap on the product code, then you will be able to view the history of firmware releases.
CSC is essential !
As I wrote above, phones designated for your country may have multiple product codes and they may have different release histories so check it out as well.
Of course, it would be best if the phone had unbranded firmware for the given region, for yours for instance.
Your information shows that the display is intact, which clearly does not mean the need to replace it (expensive service!) but, for example, correction or replacement of the conductive layer - this can be precisely determined by a specialized service point.
I suggest you contact such a service - it is also worth determining in advance the scheme (ie. the right form) of information for the service point because it may largely affect the pricing of such a service - and then present the exact(!) genesis of the fault step by step, without, for example, chaotic digressions.
Of course, independent technical magicians with incredible skills can be found everywhere, but not all of them can afford to buy specialized equipment that authorized service points are equipped with.
It's rather incredible tough task to find such a magician with high-tech equipment.
The defect of the display you described may be related to a fall (it is a pity that this happened and the phone had no cover), because the structure of the layer connecting the conductive elements could have been infregmented in that crash and over time this layer turned out to be too weak to withstand the stresses of the elements that were bonded and this was the cause of delamination of the component parts.
Although it might not have been as I described it - my friend recently had to replace the display (the car ran over the phone with the cover on and the display turned towards the ground), after this replacement it turned out that a part of the screen did not respond to touch and it's not known why, since the display was brand new.
In closing, I can say that it is currently unknown why the display on your phone does not respond to normal touch - as it is said in my region; there's no telling how things will turn out (in approximation as idioms don't have exact equivalents),
so it can be variously with it.
Good luck!

Thanks.

Samsung wants us to leave this fully featured phone and buy their expensive devices with 30 percent of note 9 features. If you want to enjoy note 9 buy anonther version phone and not the Indian one. The consumer rights department in India is not bother about this sitiation. So anyone want to dump and fool they try on us.

Farkadi, 04 Feb 2021Hi, I was referring to a situation where the display was pr... morenot sure what DeviceKeystring is..?? I took the sgn9 to a local repair store..not samsung authorized store. The guy said that all sgn9 units have two display sensors. One for the touch screen and one for the spen. He said he thinks the one for the touch is damaged and if so then the display would need to be replaced for a new one but note 9 displays are expensive. He also said he would need to open the phone to check inside. But after the phone is opened it will no longer have the ip68 feature. That if I want to keep the ip68, I wiil need to take the phone to a samsung repair store. The problem is that I think my sgn9 is out of warranty because it fell to the ground and the back cover was cracked. I donde think this is the reason the touch screen stopped working because the screen was still 100 % touch responsive after the back cover hit the floor and got cracked in the back..not sure what to do to fix this issue with my sgn9 display..the spen touch is still working fine. I'm writing this with it..

mauro, 01 Feb 2021my samsung note 9 is on OneUI 2.5, Android 10..I took your ... moreHi, I was referring to a situation where the display was previously completely functional. And I assume that you have already checked how it reacts after changing the S Pen settings (when it is turned on and off, etc.) and at the very bottom of these settings "Touch sensitivity".
Sometimes it happens after numerous updates that something is working poorly.
So, if, as you wrote, the phone did not crash, what other reason is affecting the display?
Hope this is not caused by the store where you purchased the phone.
In my case, when I found an offer with a "brand new SGN9", I asked the seller to send me a screenshot of the "DeviceKeystring" - after checking it, it turned out that the phone was not intended for my Region and had modified firmware (so it wasn't brand new) - the technician at the Samsung service point said that if the phone will cooperated with the network, there be a problem with the updating it, because this is closely related with the Regions.
I haven't bought it and a week later I found a new offer, but in this case retailer refused to show to me the "DeviceKeystring" because the box with SGN9 was sealed and the seller stated that once opened, the price of the product would drop.
He agreed to let me know the IMEI which was checked by Samsung and it turned out that the phone is for my Region. I'm texting from it right now.
If re-updating does not fix the problem, try searching the sammobile Forum as someone may have already reported this problem.
Otherwise, it remains to visit an authorized service point or to send there phone of yours.

I am using an older Samsung phone. It has changeable battery and a 3.5mm jack. My thin replaceable battery is smaller, then most power banks.
I am thinking about updating to the Note 9 (I do like the stylus), but I keep reading some bad reviews about green screen. How are the batteries holding up. They are non-replaceable. What is the chance of getting a good Note 9 in 2021?. Prices seems to be around $300 to $450 (US).

nkk123, 29 Jan 2021after 2 and quarter years of heavy usage, was facing issues... moreAlso Panel is QHD, now Samsung is giving it with Ultra model only. In my opinion a galaxy M30 has S-amoled display and same goes with S20 or Note 20. May be brightens or hardware might be stronger in Note series but it doesn't make much difference in practical use.
I used to buy S series only for Qhd S-amoled display. Now for people like me buying galaxy M30 is better than a S or Note series phone.
I don't like feature removing innovations of Samsung, May be they learnt it from Apple.
And I really feel stuck as ultra is too high for me and regular Note or S series has FHD screen. I don't like oneplus etc. being a fan of Samsung. I am ok with Sony or LG but they are loosing very much now a days and can't dare to buy.
I hope LG will rise back and eventually Sony and HTC. We need them to prevent Monopoly of Apple or Samsung.
