Samsung note 8 - it will be good with DUAL SIM and T V function. Hihiiii!

AnonD-139015, 24 Apr 2013I can't believe Samsung hadn't raised the bar on the resolu... moreThere's not much point on full HD resolutions for small screens. The Note 8's 189 ppi is more than enough. I honestly don't see the pixels.

It takes up roughly 80% of the battery's capacity. Imagine how much more if it were full HD. We've seen how full HD 5 inch screens suck up power. It's impractical to have full HD on portable devices, taking up more power, HD video files taking up more memory space, making builds heavier for more battery and more expensive!

Full HD is practical when viewed on 32" to 60" TV screens, not on less than 15" screens. I'll be okay with them if they don't eat so much power on portable devices.

I can't believe Samsung hadn't raised the bar on the resolution! It's 2013 and most 5 inch phones boast full HD. Such a dissapointment.

D, 20 Apr 2013I paid very high price brought the 3G version of Note 8.0 t... moreGood point on the better to see with a bigger screen as your main communications device. Paying twice the price ($800?) just to get the 3G version is something else. It's about $530 for the 3G version in Asia. It's just silly to dismiss the Note 8 having phone functionality. There are those who need it. It was wrongly guaged by tech snobs who farsighted to see others who would need it. Would it kill to have at least 20% of the US stocks with the 3G version?

It's opposite in the Philippines - the wifi only variant of the Note 8 is not in the market for those who are budget conscious who don't need the phone functionality. This is a great tool for design and art students and professional alike.

The size of the Note 8 is in between the Note II and Note 10.1. Not too big, not too small. It's in the Goldilocks zone. It's the most agile and versatile tablet in the market at the moment.

I like that you can toggle the default Samsung keyboard to become smaller floating version by pinching in. Funny that there is not so much coverage of the Note 8, even the official user's manual for downloading is not yet available. The S Pen can be used to operate the capacitive menu and back buttons -this is a great relief!

I forgot to mention the iPad can't perform multi-windows/tasking. I'd gladly pay the extra $70 to have all the functions the Note 8 can execute than the iPad mini can't do.

AnonD-138653, 23 Apr 2013mine bought it yesterday with free book cover for PHP22600.... moreAw. I'm not so into the flip cover. The white one will really become dirty quickly. I'm waiting for a heavy protective type. The type that will fully keep the Note 8 from high drops.

This Tablet suppose to be my first Tablet but considering the price.... I have to rethink again although it's not yet released in my country but if it is released and the price is more than $400 equivalent of my country currency then I go for Tab 2 7.0 P3100 OR iPad mini.
                So samsung take Note......

Somic19, 23 Apr 2013If ever this will be my first tablet so i don't want to be ... moreIf I were to actually spend my own money on this, I'd get it for its Wacom digitizer capabilities for drawing/painting with Photoshop Touch and Sketchbook apps. The S Pen also is useful for spreadsheets, like I tabulate grades and estimates. Try doing those with a finger.

It also has All Share Cast capabilities like in the past 2 Notes for mirroring presentations onto a projector or TV.

I was considering getting the heavy Note 10.1,but the portability of the Note 8 was really a priority, plus the micro USB connectivity than the special cable connector for the 10.1.

Seeing the iPad mini being at a lower price, consider some disadvantages against the more versatile Note 8:

-iPad mini can't expand to another or multiple up to 64GB micro SD cards.
-iPad mini can't directly transfer files or media. No wifi direct or bluetooth transfers. This is why I never were sold with Apple's devices.
-once the rooting for the Note 8 is resolved, I can connect to an entire regular terabytes worth of portable hard disks. The wireless HDD type is twice the cost.
-using a capacitive rubber tipped stylus drags over the glass surface and aren't that accurate for drawing or note taking. You need to get one of those capacitive circular metal tipped stylus if you want a bit of accuracy, but it can't replicate the S Pen's 1024 levels of pressure to have a variation of line thicknesses.
-iPads can't make calls or text... Well, these are minor additions for me - an alternate phone when needed.

I've had the Note 8 for 24 hours now and the only complaint I have is the blacks of the screen will turn out not as deep as AMOLED screens. This is a given fire a TFT screen.

I'm using the Note 8 unplugged 6.5 hours ago with a screen time of 4.5 hours so far, and I have 33% of battery left. I've been mainly installing apps and surfing, 2 hours of bluetooth music and had watched 2 TV episodes. At this rate, I'd say I can get some 8 hours of screen on time connected via wifi. More than enough for a day's worth on a single charge. I hope to see a better optimized battery usage over the next few days as this is just the first charge.

Pretty much happy the way it's performing.

                          very expensive!

Somic19, 22 Apr 2013Last Saturday in Samsung Rob. Galleria told me 22K for cash... moreYeah, I'd wait it out if the S Pen and bigger screen aren't so important. I missed the 22k price! It can probably reach down to 20k in 2 to 3 months.

This is my first tab ever and loving it s an alternate to my Note 2. The Note 8's screen is very clear, contrary it being just TFT LCD. Vibrant and deep blacks. Pixels aren't noticable.

The size of this fits the entire screen of the Note 10.1. The Note 8 is 338g compared to the 600g weight of the Note 10.1. I got used to the less than 200g of the Note 2, but the bigger screen is defitely a big plus for me but not as heavy as a 10" inch tablet.

I will report in a few times of the battery performance. It varies with the different reviews, with no standardized testing. I was hoping GSM Arena is going to do this for us on the 3G version.

                              Too expensive !

I finally have gotten this, courtesy of SamMobile.com of Netherlands, for my winning entry in their Note art competition some two months back.

Wonderful device that I'll be making more digital art pieces.

A lot competative in the market, especially apple, why the samsung put the high price for Samsung 8? Go for mini i pad better, if samsung reduce the price i think u got the market forever!
