I'm hoping that the black variant comes out. I'm not hating the white one, but I'd prefer the charcoal black version.

AnonD-135328, 13 Apr 2013cashing is plastic. is that strong? . I had experience with... moreHere are the bad things about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0:

      Plasticky
      No premium feel
Low resolutioned camera (but sharp with low light)
      Not a full HD screen
      Not an AMOLED screen
      Silly as a phone?
      Camera is bumping out
      No radio
      No front positioned speakers
      No LED flash light
Price is $70 more than the "premium" iPad Mini
      No Corning Gorilla glass
Poor battery only lasting 7-8 hours of heavy use
      Not waterproofed
      Not shock proofed
      No wireless charging
      No NFC
      Touchwiz is boring
      Micro USB port fragile
It's only coming out as the white version at the moment
The S Pen feels flimsy to use

Well, the list can go on much longer. And what a field day other people who can't see the Note 8's hardware & software potentials.

It's not all about the status of having the device. It's about the possibility and the potential it offers with a Wacom digitizer integrated. This is the modern blank paper with endless pages, endless ink to compliment whatever you have in mind. And yeah, it does what any ordinary tablet can do, and a whole lot more innovation.

I think the Note series are much more brilliant than other tablets out there.

Samsung Philippines launched the Note 8 and spent some time with the 3G + wifi version and it would be the only version to be sold here for a while. I tested it with the Sketchbook Express and found it as responsive as the Note II. Here's a shot of what I did:

        http://flickr.com/photos/92800985@N06/8643965665/

I'm getting this by next week. The TFT screen is surprisingly clear and bright enough. The viewing angles are great without colors shifting (unlike the Xperia Z' disappointing & terrible viewing angles in spite of being a full HD screen).

I'm getting this for working with drawing for work and digital painting, even with having the Note II. The bigger screen area is the main thing that I'm after, and is way lighter than the Note 10.1 to being carried on one hand for extended times - I want to be able to draw while standing, especially for on-location sketching.

They've improved the S Note's interface with a useful quick pen width adjustment and there's even a landscape paper format now (I wouldn't know is the exist with the 10.1 already).

I was expecting the side frame bezels to be as thick as 1" based on the impressions I got from pictures, but it wasn't as thick as that. It's pretty useful for gripping it from the sides.

I'm guessing Samsung released the wifi only variant in the USA to test the market after being ridiculed with the phone functioning version. I find the phone function does make sense if you'll be making it as an all-in-one device. It makes even more sense if you'll be using 3G for navigation maps and on the go internet access.

Initial battery life suggests 7 to 8 hours of continuous usage (Engadget, CNET). I'm used to 10 to 12, or even 16 hours at times of battery life from heavy usage with the Note II with 7 hours of screen time. I'll see how the battery would fair with my actual usage.

I dont see big difference among samsung devices, it seems like they are all the same but different in size. Interface is boring, no built in gadgets. Other companies are much better in terms of that. SGN 8.0 is no different than its precedents, just a tiny bit. Samsung change your interface, make it richer and functional.
