I tired to update my Note 2 yesterday, but due to some error in Laptop it got stuck. Now when I turn on the device , I see message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again".
I'm not able to wipe data by using power+home+up key.

AnonD-64777, 14 Feb 2014After 4.3 jelly bean update my note battery drain very fast... moreGo to settings --> application manager --> Swipe right to left 3 times and choose all --> Here choose each unnecessary app and choose force stop. Then choose disable (if available).

Disable auto brightness if you are staying indoors or going out in night time. Reduce the display brightness and the screen time to 30 seconds or less.

If it is under warranty, get a new battery at the Samsung service centre.

                        Hi,

Im using Note 2, running 4.3.

However since yesterday, when I try Update option, it says that your device has exceeded the update options, try with KIES(something like this message).

My device is an Indian device from Samsung Showroom.

                        Any update/solution?

I think the update is varying from device to device within the same model. Mine was manufactured in July 2013 and bought in 24th August 2013.

The information that I share here is for my N7100 device.

Wow Samsung kies !! What seemed to be a big big update on kies in excess of 1 gb was just a 21 mb update in OTA and that too without issuing any change log.

                              To Jeswin and sunils :

My device was bought in India and it is made in Vietnam. My device is getting such updates.

The second and third useless update (1.2 GB each) can only be done via KIES.

I am saying for my device. From your statement, it looks like update size is varying for different handsets in the same model N7100.

AnonD-53316, 13 Feb 2014There are tons of mid range Android by Samsung, Sony, HTC, ... moreI agree that there is a phone like Samsung I8190 and I9100 matching the specifications that I have told. Those phones have only android 4.1 and are not available now in India as new piece with warranty. There is just a rumour that 4.4.x will be targeted on low end phones also. But nothing is done in reality for such phones.

You must accept the fact that the companies are forcing high end models on to the customers in the name of developing technology.

As I said earlier, I liked the specifications of Samsung I9100 (before buying N7100). But I didn't get that mobile in the store.

Anyway lets wait for Nokia's normandy phone in MWC 2014 and see its performance and battery backup time.

AnonD-26497, 13 Feb 2014@ SUNDAY ARE did u update how's the performance battery bac... moreAfter android 4.3 upgrading, my device got the below 3 updates :
                                        > 1st update - 14 MB (increased idle standby time by a small amount and no visible changes)

                                        > 2nd update - 1.2 GB (useless no changes in battery standby time and no visible changes)

                                        > 3rd update - 1.2 GB (almost useless, meagre increase in idle standby time only and apps appear to open and close a bit fast - according to me)

No lags. If you keep only WiFi on in flight mode with all unnecessary apps disabled (in settings -> application manager -> all) without using in screen off mode, the battery charge decreases by 1% every 30 to 45 minutes. Before it used to decrease by 3% to 5% for the same time. From this, the idle standby time has increased. In my words, the meaning idle standby and normal standby are different.

The standby time (when using it normally) has not gone even worse. It remains the same that is upto 24 to 30 hours according my usage (in pure flight mode***, auto brightness and all unnecessary apps* disabled, WiFi usage** upto 4 non continuous hours, screen off time at 30 seconds).

                                        * means - all google apps except hangouts and maps, all samsung apps like flipboard etc. Hangouts and maps are closed just by pressing return button.

** means - 4 hours includes browsing for some time and WiFi texting for some time. Using both (browsing and online texting at the same time is rare).

*** means - all radio options (except WiFi) are switched off. I will switch off WiFi too when not using it.

I should put my device to WiFi standby continuously from 100% battery charge (based on the condition marked with * symbol) and see how much hours the battery charge lasts.

Updates - means the releases within the same version

Upgrade - changes to higher version.
