oh yes... samsung SGH-F400 had Digital Natural Sound Engine DNSE v2.0, and music recognition. it would have been nice from samsung if they would have integrated these features into their android phones especially begining from the GT-i9000. these features are just amazing and very helpful!

Respect CM7 and MIUI for their work i used some time their ROMs but they would do better job if their ROMs would not be based on MTD. No little kids who have nothing else to do will beat the Samsung and the Google developers. While Samsung and Google are providing important, significant, stable and reliable firmwares and features these kids are providing over them BUG FLOODED ROMs missing important features lacking support instead of improving them. it would have been very very nice if CM7 or MIUI would benefit of all the Gingerbread features and support + their own features added and modifications made. Now those would be SUPER ROMs!

yes i forgot something very important about what i wrote before. if you want even that little sound improvement offered by the voodoo sound running on CM7 or MIUI be ready to sacrifice DIVX,XVID,MKV and WMV playback. yes they cand be played with a 3rd party video player (i tried MX Video Player Pro wich is the best) but the playback is still laggy at 720p resolution even on lower resolution too. HW decoder bad SW decoder awful. sometimes laggy video recording. Firmware full of bugs. I recommend using the official android based ROMs or official ROMs not MTD like CM7 or MIUI. It's not worth losing performance, stability and support just for a sweet UI and a little sound performance.

Another thing. when using CM7 or MIUI with voodoo control app in the menu appear a new option but only on CM7 or MIUI. the option is "Tune speaker for music". now this option combined with the DSPManager offers great bass and somewhat better quality and a bit of loudness, everything dependig on how you tweak the EQ. But still not enough to compete with nokia's square speakers, far away from competing with nokia about music quality, bass and many more about speaker sound output.

Maybe Galaxy note has some improvements regarding the sound quality by tweaking a little the sowtware decoder and/or the hardware equalizer but the speaker is the same.

the Galaxy note's speaker is the same as the GT-i9000's speaker, same as the one from SGS2 and N7000 has only one speaker, not speakers like you said

there is no way for the galaxy note to sound better than the n9. nokia have their special speakers that will never be beaten. i am not a nokia fan nor samsung fan i simply put the comparison terms. I own a samsung galaxy s GT-i9000 and a galaxy s II i9100. i had aswell a nokia n8, 5800 XM, and a X6. Nokia's square speakers are just amazing. i am also specialized in electronics and automatizations and i know what i am talking about. Nokia's square speakers have a great level of impedance and even the power consumption is great and the special thing is that if they are put in the right "chamber" nokia's speakers reproduce bass and equalizes high frequencies like no other speakers. they are magnificient! samsung has a ol' phone i am proud of too: Samsung SGH-F400 (Audio by Bang and Olufsen Icepower) now that phone was totally multimedia in it's time but that was the first and last one. Samsung should really think about better speakers and maybe phones with stereo speakers for the multimedia type, like samsung continuum but like i said, better speakers and the location of the speakers should really be changed, like placing it or them at the side of the phone or even the front cuz' on the back the whole quality and sound is directed away from you. the only thing samsung lacks is good speakers, good place for the speakers :)) and multimedia integration. so they should god damn start working on this problem ;)

After using this baby for a few days all I can say is wow wow wow. It is amazing. Finally a perfect phone in everything way with a huge keyboard thus ending the frustrations when typing and correcting typos on a touch screen. Well done Samsung. Enjoying the speaktoit assistant app from android gingerbread making Siri on the iPhone seem obsolete when comparing the two which I urge you to do.
