If you wan... moreReading user experiences, I garnered reading user posts and experiences that by using Open Camera, a free app available on Play Store, you can also get excellent quality. It can also access all cameras (attested by me, by pressing the camera icon with a + sign cycles through all three main cameras, and two front cameras, but it also selects a non-existent third front camera for some reason, it would've been better if we could directly select which camera we want like in the stock Aperture app, but oh well, both camera apps support all the cameras), allow you to save to SD card instead of only internal memory, can capture HDR, you can choose framerate for video (but it can't record in 60 fps, defaults to 30 if 60 is selected), and for those needing it, even capture RAW.

The only thing I wasn't able to do is record in 60 fps, but considering the freedom and additional options, as well as perks of having a completely blank ROM (as blank as you could have it, at least), and considering that I don't really use the camera, it doesn't bother me. And I'm sure you can find a way to theme the ROM if you look hard enough - for me, fluidness and no stuttering, as well as having everything in one place (such as quick connect/disconnect to VPN and toggle hotspot in status bar), plus Trebuchet's ability to lock behind a pattern plus biometrics and hide absolutely any app you install, wins over "pretty UI". UI should be functional, increase the efficiency of usage and have as little impact on phone's resources as possible in my opinion, "prettyness" is secondary.

Oh, and LOS automatically encrypts your internal storage, whether you install by wiping system fresh or not, so even with an unlocked bootloader and accessing the internal memory through recovery or something, all you get are junk folders with random names, thus eliminating one of the drawbacks of custom ROMs - easily accessible user data.

    Protip: for a truly insane battery life, both screen on, and ESPECIALLY screen off, go to Settings, then Apps, then See all X apps, where X is your number of apps.

    Now, think a bit: which app doesn't need background activity? And which apps with background activity do you not need background at all (for example, Facebook or Quora if you aren't interested in their notifications)? If the app fulfills that, tap on the app in the app list, then tap App battery usage, then tap on Restricted.

    What this does is prevent the app from running in background, thus easing the load on CPU, possibly increasing the amount of free RAM (don't hold me to that though), and thus, lessened impact on battery. By putting the vast majority of apps except only those which you need to run in background (instant messaging for notifications, music player for music and so on) all that adds up to a much greater battery endurance. The CPU is fast enough so I doubt you'll notice a difference in responsiveness but the battery life will be insane! For example, constantly using my phone, basically constantly using Firefox for browsing from 7:00, will reach 30% battery in around 12:30 when the battery saver kicks in, and I still have at least an hour and a half to two hours projected battery time remaining by checking the Battery option in Settings. Guess the screen off time? From 22:00, when the battery is 100%, and 6:50 when I wake up, it dropped to only 95%, and projected time was over 7 days!

    Examples of apps that can be put in restricted without affecting the experience at all: Quora (if you don't need the notifications), all games except those where you need notifications, Trebuchet app launcher, AOSP keyboard, 2FA Authenticator app, web browsers, file manager app (except MiXplorer, which needs background if you use FTP server and so on), app licences, camera, gallery, contacts, built-in music player if you use a third-party one... Just putting Trebuchet on my phone to restricted massively increased battery life, and there is no delay or any issues with putting it in restricted.

    All the other background apps are on optimized, while only those that ask for unrestricted for proper functioning (Radarbot, Reminders, cloud sync app) are unrestricted and this gives me over 6 and a half hours of constant browsing with Firefox while music is playing through Shanling UA3 as the output device, using jetAudio+ as a music player with James DSP installed through Magisk for additional advanced systemwide sound effects.

    I also use NUKED script to disable motion sensor during Doze (and run other scripts, such as disabling analytics and tracking services for system and user apps, as well as disabling ad and useless services for user apps, just make sure to unmount/eject your SD card while running NUKED scripts since it has a tendency to corrupt the SD card), L Speed with option to immediately enable Doze with screen off, Battery Guru from same developer as L Speed to also enable Doze with screen off, and only disable Doze by unlocking, not just screen on, and finally NFS Injector set on Balanced.

    And for God's sake, if using Ainur Sauron MK III, DO NOT enable the Audio policy patches, as not only can this cause a bootloop so bad you need to wipe both user data and system then reflash if you uninstall it, but it also reduces battery stamina. But that's why you backup to Google for contacts and passwords (including WiFi) and use Neo Backup (available on F-Droid) to backup apps and data to SD card to restore everything quickly, including app data.

    So there you have it. Put EVERY app into restricted where you don't need background (and that's the vast majority of apps) and only need it working it it's the currently active window, all other apps to optimized, and only a select few with a schedule or needing instant response even with screen off into unrestricted and you should notice your battery lasting a lot longer.

If you wanted customization, should've installed something like risingOS, EvoX, DroiOd, Alphadroid etc. There are camera mods of gcam to get even better performance out of the units then stock samsung cam, you just didn't spend the time searching a bit more before posting.

Samsung is light years ahead of google in UI design, i reversed back to stock :(. Battery life, indeed was great for the 1 day ai used. And the camera was just much weaker at night. Also, was nice having the september security patch 😇.
          I miss cianogen mod days with their theme engine. Why Lineageos can't do that after so many years?

              No throttling, no heat, no slowdown, no app-killing in background, and insane battery life.

              No reason to get the Snapdragon unless you like the feeling of having a Snapdragon and don't care about root and customization and custom ROMs.

              I can't live without the in-built system option that remaps the navigation buttons (like long-pressing the back button to kill the foreground app, double-tap of home button to instantly open previous window in recent apps list which means instant switching between two most recent apps), allowing you to turn on the torch by holding the power button when the screen is off, controlling the cursor with volume buttons, using Magisk to install modules, installing LSPosed Magisk module through which I enable Physical Button Master Control to remap the Bixby button to control music as well as launch the music player (you can launch any app with any button combination through PBMC), using James DSP with AutoEQ parameters and Magic Bass 25% convolver to change any sound systemwide (you can increase the bass to be 6 or more times stronger without sacrificing sound quality, you can set options fpr speaker, headset and bluetooth, and you can export and import settings), increasing the number of media volume steps to 60 with a Magisk module for precise volume control...

              A tip: PBMC 4.3 can import and export settings but crashes if choosing an app to load, while 4.2.1 can choose apps. Backing up and restoring app data with Neo Backup, which works almost every time save for a few apps like Signal, eBay and the banking app, doesn't work with PBMC hence the need for 4.3 and exporting settings. Also do two backups with Neo because it sometimes incompletely backs up app and data and this way you won't be left with an unrestoreable app.

              Solution: install the LSPosed app called Let Me Downgrade and enable app downgrades in the status bar quick tile so you can switch between 4.3 and 4.2.1 without Android preventing you to install the older version. Use 4.2.1 to configure button overrides. You can also choose to disable original button function in PBMC. Then install 4.3 and export settings.

              Bixby button is called Menu in LineageOS and you should set it to do nothing in LOS settings just in case, even though PBMC can disable the original function, if you choose to remap the Bixby button.

              Faced with that much freedom and options, why would anyone choose Snapdragon except if they're not sufficiently computer-literate to do all that?

              P.S.: if any app refuses to work because of root (like a banking app), enable Zygisk in Magisk options and add the offending app to the DenyList.

                    Before that, I had S9+ Exynos with 6GB RAM, LineageOS on it. But somehow, maybe because of a faulty charger, a surge of electricity fried some cirtuit(s) and it asks for PUK when I enter my SIM PIN, so is unable to be used as a phone but more like an entertainment device without the ability to use a SIM card.
                    Let me tell you, the Exynos NEVER throttled, never got hot, and it was always blazingly fast. My current loaner phone, a regular non-plus S9, also with LineageOS, NEVER throttles. The only thing that makes it disappointing is the piddly 4GB of RAM, which means the phone constantly kills background apps and slows down when opening multiple apps, due to small RAM capacity making it load the entire program into RAM, whilst freeing up used memory, instead of with S9+'s 6GB RAM having enough free space and enough capacity to load programs blazingly fast as well as not killing background apps. I had to use Ultra mode in NFS Manager and tweak some L Speed settings so it doesn't slow down, but I'll be glad when the S10+ with its 8GB of RAM arrives, LineageOS, app backups through Neo Backup already prepared for fast restoration of all data and settings.

                    Look at the benchmarks - the Snapdragon and Exynos are neck-to-neck, and the Snapdragon loses due to its bootloader being locked and unable to be unlocked, preventing rooting, installing another OS, tweaking and customization, you name it. And with LineageOS being empty (no apps to drain battery and so on), as well as being the latest iteration of Android, it literally breathes second life into the device. And the battery life on my S9+ was INSANE: browsing web through Firefox gave me 8 hours of battery life - the battery consumption showed it wasted 50% of battery after 4 hours, with another 4 remaining. This was through a combination of NFS Injector with NFS Manager set to balanced and tweaked L Speed settings. And guess how much battery life it predicted listening to music from my phone to a laptop with Bluetooth? 24 freaking hours!

                    So yeah, go ahead and take the Snapdragon. I'd sell it right away if it was gifted to me and buy the Exynos instead because of LineageOS, root, Physical Button Master Control, L Speed and NFS Injector giving blazing fast performance with insane battery life and so on. Whatever little raw performance lead the Snapdragon has is nullified and reversed with the installation of LineageOS and tweaking the hardware through NFS and L Speed.

I reall... moreExynos can be rooted and you can install LineageOS 20 with Android 13, while Snapdragon is locked. Trust me, LineageOS on my S9 with NFS Injector magisk module turns it into a beast with many features and godly battery life. Install Physical Button Master Control with LSPosed magisk module and you can reprogram any button (ie. Bixby button to both control music and open external app like music player), including navigation buttons - install 4.2.3 first since 4.3 crashes when trying to reprogram to open an app, then use 4.3 to export preferences and you'll have succesfully reprogrammed a button and exported the button settings.

                                    If you go with the S10+ you'll get the 3.5mm headphone jack, the Note 10+ doesn't have it, apart from that, the Note 10+ gives you the Stylus for productivity and other things, if you will not use it for productivity the S10+ is fine, otherwise if the headphone jack isn't a deal breaker for you, go for the Note 10+, you'll get similar battery, same performance, but the screen would be bigger on the Note.
