Thank you very much for your response. It was in-depth and solid. Some people say that the exynos variant tends to be problematic especially where overheating is concerned which is somewhat surprising to me seeing that I had an exynos S5 which ran very cool and was very fast in it's time. I guess times have changed.

Original-Jamaican, 08 Jan 2023I'm thinking of purchasing a S20 Ultra. Can you please... moreHi I got a used phone (Exynos Variant) for $320 in pretty good condition. Its almost a 3 year old flagship but still very much capable. I don't do gaming just normal usage and its more than enough for me. This phone is quite big in size and the screen is really good. The camera issue is only on the main camera, sometimes the autofocus doesn't work that good (definitely because of the huge camera sensor) and its a known issue with this model. It's not much of a problem if there's enough light. The other cameras (ultrawide, telephoto and periscope) are very impressive.. It has upto 4X optical zoom and the photos in daylight is very impressive. Further zooming upto 10X-15X will get some good photos in daylight. I am very impressed with the periscope camera especially. It's the best I've seen in a phone (excluding the successive models such as S21, S22 and the upcoming S23). Nightmode shots are great as well but nothing like recent flagships. Fingerprint scanner is good as well, it's neither that fast nor much slow. Since its an ultrasonic one, thankfully no annoying lighting up especially in dark environment (a characteristic of optical UD Fingerprint sensors).
Overall the user experience is really flagship grade its all worth it. This is my opinion after using it for a couple of days. Its still a very capable phone. I got this from a local store. Unfortunately the snapdragon variant isn't available in my country. The last Samsung flagship I had was the S7 flat display and it was really good for its time, much more compact than this one.. It's hard to find this phone as new but you can get a used one (basically refurbished) at second hand mobile shops and online stores. At a physical store you can get a hands on experience and also check out for any defects or malfunction compared to online sites. I recommend you buy from a local store if you can find one in good condition at a good price. Since I got a used one and its almost 3 year old the battery backup isn't that strong. It's draining faster even with battery saver on. Thinking about getting the battery replaced in a few weeks.

TheArtist, 06 Jan 2023So I got the S20 Ultra for 300 USD and i love this phone. I... moreI'm thinking of purchasing a S20 Ultra. Can you please tell me where you purchased yours and did you buy it new or used?

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2022It also happen to me... just updating the software and when... moreStrange to hear that the screen lifespan of the S20 ULTRA is only 2 years. I simply don't believe that. I currently have a Huawei P9 Plus which uses a Samsung Super AMOLED screen (Huawei and Samsung partnered for the display) and it's been working perfectly for the past 5 years (have it since Nov. 2017). No tint issues nor burn-ins nor dead pixels. It's working like the very first day I got it. Even though Huawei more than likely did their own tuning on the screen there's no way I'm going to accept that the flagship S20 ULTRA won't give you more than 2 years worth of screen life.

Funny enough I went through 3 pages of comments (started from the latest page) to see the pros and cons of getting a S20 ULTRA as I may just get one this year...even though Samsung betrayed me by purposely sending a firmware of less than 20MB that messed up my S5 which made it nearly impossible to make a GSM call (straight call). I guess they were trying to force me to upgrade as it seemed as if I had it for too long (in their view). They wrecked it after me owning the S5 for 4 years. Funny enough an official reviewer from a reputable reviewing company (similar to GSMArena) complained about his S5 purposely being wrecked by Samsung AFTER an official OTA update, afterwhich he said he was being scammed by lots of error messages saying his phone had a virus and the battery had reached the end of it's lifespan and his phone literally started to crawl more than even the slowest entry-level phone out there . He said he would NEVER purchase another Samsung again. For some reason I thought he was mistaken as I found it hard to believe UNTIL it happened to me. I just shooked my head as I didn't see that one coming.

The ONLY reason I may go back to Samsung is because of the sanctions Huawei are going through which prohibits Google services from being used on their phones PLUS I see where Samsung is now offering 4 years worth of Android updates opposed to the 2 years during the S5 era. At first the P9 Plus seemed too big for me but I eventually got use to it. The S20 ULTRA is bigger in length and width but at least you are getting a bigger screen than the newer ULTRAs. Furthermore, the SD slot is present and they come with a full charger. All these make the S20 ULTRA seem like a worthwhile upgrade for me. My only issue would be the many complaints I see here about the back and front cameras having focus issues...though I don't take photos a whole lot BUT at the same time I want everything to work perfectly like it's suppose to.

So I got the S20 Ultra for 300 USD and i love this phone. I'm so fond of One UI, because it is a proper skin with tons of customization, stable and well integrated with Samsung apps. I've used almost all companies phones and i keep returning back to Samsung because of One UI. This phone is pretty good, big screen, excellent audio, great performance (not into gaming), good user experience but what I'm really disappointed with is the camera.. It has some sort of focusing issue mainly with the main rear camera and because of that, the pictures came out blurry most of the time. To fix this, you'll need to switch zoom range or shake the phone. I researched and found people who bought the S20 Ultra complaining about the same issue on different forums. This issue is also mentioned in the GSMArena review which I didn't read before getting this phone. I'm running the latest update, which is One UI 5.0 based on Android 13. Sadly, this focus hunting issue is still prevalent and it's annoying. My main priority was One UI and a good camera but now it was a mistake to purchase this phone. 😕 My earlier phone, which was Vivo X70 Pro didn't have focus issues and in fact captured better photos in low lighting conditions.. Unfortunately I sold it because I didn't like the UI. Hope Samsung will offer some fix for the camera focusing problem otherwise I would have to get rid of this amazing phone.. 😔

I am going to be straight up. I absolutely love this damn phone! It is a absolute shame that something with the power of this device has only a couple more years of security updates. I have a s22 ultra 128 8gb as my daily driver but I bought a s20 ultra for 225 usd as my secondary device. The black one is a great looking phone and I believe that it could handle 2 more versions of Android with absolutely no problem at all. The battery life is better than my s22 ultra and tbh I think that I like it more.
I've never owned a s21 ultra but I've heard great things about it as well.

One of the best Samsung phones I love. The display is superior and the battery life superb.

S20 ultra exynos not best cpu but i dont gaming on this smartphone, so i dont care on chipset.

The best is the Camera and Otter Things.

Using Android 10 instead 13,12 or 11, since older version are more stable than newer Versions.

Now my S20 ultra is getting one UI 5 (android 13) right now, it's really superb UI and better than previous UI.
