Does the S21 (not + or Ultra), using the 888 in the US, receive dual frequency GPS (L1 and L5)? Use GPSTest to find out.

So I did a test.
A transfert from PC to S20 internal memory with USB C cable is 114 seconds.
Same transfert to a regular (not fast) microSD card with memory card reader USB 3 is only 40 seconds, so three times faster…
I guess transfert would be faster with S21 because it uses UFS 3.1 instead of UFS 3.0, but probably not much in real world (even if Samsung says it is three times faster for writing data, that would make it the same speed as a transfert to a memory card).
And being able to transfer or save your files in seconds by just taking your memory card out of the phone is priceless.

And UFS 3.1 also has much faster random read and random write specs than UFS 2.1 or UFS 3.0 has.
Then the A51 only has a USB-C 2.0 port while the S21 has a USB-C 3.2 port. USB 2.0 maxes out at 480Mb/s while USB-C 3.2 can max out at 10000 Mb/s (10Gb/s).

You can hit multiple Gigabits per second speeds with the modern USB-C connection on the S21. The external storage cards with the A51, S20, and other Samsung phones is much slower than that.
You can easily copy files to/from the S21 over the USB-C connection faster than you will be able to put read/write them with external storage, connected to a PC and then install it in the phone.
The A51 has UFS 2.1 storage while the S21 has UFS 3.1 storage. UFS 2.1 maxes out at 850Mb/s read speeds and 250Mb/s write. UFS 3.1 maxes out at 2100 Mb/s read and 1200Mb/s write.
The S20 has UFS 3.0. Which does have 2100Mb/s read speeds but only 410Mb/s write speeds.

Now whether that is worth the price premium is debatable. But personally I think it is. I know compared to my S10 the S21 is way faster for storage, memory, and the USB-C connection.

Even the midrange A51 has 128 GB (and a memory card) for 350 euros...and the S21 has the same 128 GB (without memory card) for 859 euros ? Fort that price and without memory card, 256GB should be the minimum in a flagship...pure greed, Samsung being the world first manufacturer of memory chips, it must cost them next to nothing to add memory.

AzyTheDancer, 20 Feb 2021So it's been 3 weeks and I'm still mixed about th... moreI've been using the Spigen screen protectors for the last few years. I used it with my s8 and S10 and now with my S21. The fingerprint reader works just as well with the screen protector on as it did before I installed one. I use the Spigen NeoFlex Screen Protector. It does show fingerprints. But I just use a microfober cloth, on the screen, once a day to clean them off.
For me I don't get any extra phone protection since I am not prone to dropping my phone. I've never broken a screen or phone. And I can count on one hand the number of times I've dropped my cell phone over the last twenty seven years of cell phone use. So I've saved thousands, over the years, by not paying for damage insurance.

So it's been 3 weeks and I'm still mixed about the s21. One thing I'm really confused about is what Screen Protector to add that let's me successfully use the finger print reader. While the current Samsung Promo offers the Samsung Care for R499 (RSA) making 2x screen claims R999 each, I would still like a screen protector. The usual tempered glass takes away from the finger print reader but still picks up my touch.
Not sure if anyone in RSA has any comments/reviews on the TPU/Gel screen protectors such as those by JETech?

If you are outside US and China (and maybe few other countries) you have no option but to buy the Exynos model. Even though I dislike Exynos I had to get that one as it is available in my country. Having said that, I did not face any battery issues until now and am getting 5-6 hours SOT consistently with my usage in the past 1 week I have owned this phone. But only time will tell how the exynos model holds up in the long run.
