Alex, 12 Feb 2021So you buy Samsung because you like Samsung for no particul... moreNo I buy Samsung because I like their products and can typically get them for a good price. The trade in credits are icing on the cake. I also have five of their 2020 tablets now. Two S6 lites and three A7 10.4 tablets. They replaced my older Samsung tablets from 2015 and 2018. And I was still, able to get up to $90 trade in credit from the old tablets. That combined with getting the tablets on sale made for a low price. Like around $175 for the S6 lites and $65 to $80 for the A7 tablets.
I spent many hundreds on a 2015 Galaxy S tablet and I swore I would never do that again. And fortunately Samsung has made it easy with a good trade in value and then getting the tablets during the Thanksgiving/ Christmas holidays.
I don't mind spending a lot for a cell phone though. If I have to. Since it is the one device that I use every day. Unlike all my tablets. But I would still rather pay a little as possible. And this year Samsung knocked it out of the park with the prices for the S21 models and the generous trade in values.

Alex, 12 Feb 2021And "faster" is not "better" in many wa... moreI've had no problems with heat on my S21, unlike my S10 2hich did heat up occasionally.
But I also have the Qualcomm 888 in my S21. I did read about heat issues with the Exynos in the S21.
The S21 has much faster storage and memory in the S21. Which helps immensely with speed. Its like my desktop PCs where I installed 28Gbps NVMe drives just so I could have several second boot up times in Wndows 10.
I noticed the S21 rebooted superfast when it installed the new update earlier this week. But like my S10, I expect to only be rebooting the S21 when there is an update. Otherwise I will, never reboot it it turn it off. Just like I did 2ith my S10.

aaronwt, 12 Feb 2021Because I like Samsung phones and tablets and I also want m... moreAnd "faster" is not "better" in many ways. Faster means more heat and more power consumption: and you can see all those "Overheat Error" S21 screenshots as a result.
And how fast is "very fast"? Mobile CPU will never be as fast as a desktop one - if you are a gamer. But for everyday use I keep Power Saving mode with 70% CPU speed on my S10 - and it still feels very fast.

aaronwt, 12 Feb 2021Because I like Samsung phones and tablets and I also want m... moreSo you buy Samsung because you like Samsung for no particular reason, other than trade-in? Since a lot of phones have wireless charging and latest CPU chips.
And "no interest" doesn't mean "free". I kept my S10 for free and got more features and better quality, without worrying about overheating problems. In fact, I wouldn't trade-in S10 for S21 even for free - because of those lacking features and overheating problems.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2021Of course it's faster, but wasn't S10 fast enough... moreI also forgot about wireless charging. Which is the only way I charge my phones now. Ever since I got my first wirelessly charged tablet in 2013, I fell in love with wireless charging. So when I got an S6 in 2015, I started using wireless charging with my cell phone. Which is the only way I have charged them since. (I switched to using Samsung cellphones and tablets in 2015)
Well I guess not counting in the car. Since my car doesn't have wireless Android Auto. So I need to plug it into a USB cable for android auto. Which also charges while connected.

Why is everyone upset about the plastic back in the S21?? Good plastic is superior to glass in many aspects like weight, durability, finger smudges and it looks very elegant on the S21. I would pick that over fragile glass everyday.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2021Of course it's faster, but wasn't S10 fast enough... moreBecause I like Samsung phones and tablets and I also want my cell phone to be fast. The faster the better. Any mid-range phone is going to be slower using the lower end Qualcomm chipsets.
Plus Samsung also has 24, 36, and 48 month no interest options if I want to use them. Which I did for my S21 but I will just pay it off before the end of the year. But the payments are under $9 a month for my 256GB unlocked S21(for three years no interest).
I typically get a new Galaxy S phone every two years. But I was going to skip that this year because the selfie lens was not under the screen yet. But because the S21 was so inexpensive after trade in, I figured I might as well upgrade. And then if the 2022 Galaxy S phone finally has a full screen with the selfie lens under the screen, then I will trade in my S21 for an S22.

I didn't have S6 or S8, but S9 easily beats all next generations in camera quality. Even S20 cam quality is somehow better than S21, being the same on paper. And that's not a good thing - when next generation produces worse results.
But I get it, you only need fast CPU and don't care about flagship features. Why go for flagship then?

Alex, 12 Feb 2021I've got a new S10 2 months ago for $450 from an offic... moreNo my S10 never felt as fast as the S21. But faster than the S8. Every upgrade to a new S phone got faster and faster for me.
A glass back is worthless to me since my phone is always in a case.
A headphone jack is worthless to me since I have no desire to use a wired headphone. I've been using BT headphones for many years now.
No SD slot is not a big deal for me because I just purchased the 256GB version instead of the 128GB version. And if I need to transfer something, I can do it wirelessly at 600+ Mb/s speeds or from the USB C connection at several gigabits per second.
The camera is easily better than my S6, S8, or S10 was.
I don't need an SpO2 sensor. I can count on three fingers the number of times I used it during the 23 months I owned my S10.
I never use MST with my S10 so it's not something I can miss.
Another plus for me for the S10 is the flat screen. I hated it when Samsung went to those curved screens on the edge.
And, as I mentioned before, the only thing that was a letdown was the screen resolution. Going down to 1080P from 1440P is easily noticeable to me. But because the price was much lower, I don't have a big problem with it. If the cost was $200 more, then I would have been more concerned with the lower rez screen. But then I wouldn't have much choice anyway.
Since I'm not about to purchase one of the larger screen versions since I would not be able to use the S21+ or S21 Ultra with one hand. The S21 screen size is almost at the limit of me being able to use the phone with one hand. I think the limit would be a 6.3 inch screen for me,

Many users noted here that even S8 was better than S10 in some ways, e.g. picture quality. And I already gave a big list why S21 is inferior compared to 2-year old S10.
