The worst baterry ever. Such an expensive phone must have a better battery.

Samsung lowered the resolutions because they could. They looked at the lower resolutions Apple had, saw that it did not affect sales, so Samsung ended up doing the same thing with their lower Galaxy S phones. And their resolutions are similar to the lower end iphones. Like the ipHone 14 and 14+.

Plus, Samsung probably had the data that showed that most people ran their screen resolution in the lower rez mode anyway.

Apple devices doesn t need much specs to be fast . Apple devices with only 4 ram are faster than android devices with 8gb ram. Some people want better security , some people want easy to use , it is all about choice. But even Apple never downgraded display quality and ram for the newer model. Only Samsung did that with S21 and S22 who are lower than S20 5G.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2022Quad HD 2k is must for all flagship. orelse Big No.!!Totaly agree. And not forget 12gb ram.

LostFantasist, 31 Oct 2022I was thinking of doing that too, but the thing is, I’m not... moreEverything I've read shows a slight battery increase, 200mAh, for both the base S23 and S23+. While the Ultra battery capacity would remain the same.

I will have my S23 in a case, like my previous Galaxy phones, so I'm not too concerned with the raised camera lenses the S23 will have. Since the case should be designed to still protect them. Although I do prefer the flat design the S22 has for the camera lenses.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2022How do you use your S22 daily so that you could go with it ... moreFor me, I use wireless Android Auto for around 1.5 to 3 hours a day. I also always have between one to three BT devices connected to it. I will listen to music from it for a few hours a day with my Galaxy Buds2 Pro ear buds. Plus I use it for email, texting, banking, Blue Iris, Samsung Smart-things, web browsing, word docs, pdf docs, pics, UHD videos etc. So I'll also have several hours of Screen On Time use too.

I can typically go all day with no issues. But if I'm going to go past 17 or 18 hours off the wireless charger, then I will charge it for a while, just in case. But, so far, I've only needed to do that three times since I got it launch week.

Plus I’ve seen leaks of what the S23 and S23+ might look like, and it seems Samsung’s changing the camera design to match that of the S22 Ultra’s 🙁 I much prefer the S22’s overall design. It’s simple and elegant. I also heard they’re retaining the sizes of these phones, and possibly their battery sizes as well. It looks like Samsung is again banking on the newer SoC alone to make the necessary improvements in battery life, just like they did in the S22 lineup. Their major mistake was making the physical capacities smaller if you ask me, and if they’re not rectifying that decision, I’m not sure we can expect better batteries for the S23s. Nothing about these are confirmed, of course, so fingers crossed you’re right about this most anticipated upgrade.

With the newer, more efficient SoC, Plus TSMC making it, and the slight increase in battery capacity. Means the S23 will have much better battery life than the S22. The S23 is supposed to be out in January.

I plan on trading my S22 in toward an S23 or possibly an S23+. I've been trying to get more devices that have 6Ghz, WiFi. aka WiFi 6E. Since I now have a couple of WiFi 6E Access Points. So if the base S23 doesn't have WiFi 6E, I'll seriously consider getting the S23+.

Although I have no complaints about my S22. I've had one since before launch. I can still go all day with it. Screen On time isn't the only factor to consider. I use wireless Android Auto too. Which is a big drain on battery. But it is still easily the best Galaxy S phone I have owned. But that is also the case every time I upgrade to a new Galaxy S model. I expect the S23 I get to also be the best Galaxy S phone I will have owned too. And supersede my S22.

After weeks of deliberating hard on whether I should get this phone, I must say that the horror stories about its battery life as well as proofs of it by YouTubers, have finally dissuaded me from purchasing it.

I initially took this issue with a grain of salt 'cause I've seen videos of battery tests on this phone result to ~7.5hrs of SoT, and it may not be the best, but that's already great for me. Granted, these tests were done only a few short months after the phone's release.

But then I also heard people reporting only 3-4hrs of SoT, which got me worried. Even after seeing "day in the life" videos that proved this, I still didn't believe it would remain that terrible 'cause some users said the phone learns about your usage over time and gets a better mileage after it's done calibrating. But this video posted 2 weeks ago solidified the complaints for me: https://youtu.be/zJpPjInPSjE

If I have to deal with overheating from normal use (e.g. not gaming) and a camera that doesn't inspire confidence, those are simply too many uncertainties I run the risk of dealing with for a phone that's supposed to be best in class.

It's such a shame 'cause I really love the S22's size and design. The only other latest Android phone I could consider for my preferred size (150mm tall at most) and display (flat, OLED, 120Hz, 400ppi at least), with great camera and battery life, is the Asus Zenfone 9—and I'm not even too fond of its design 😕

I guess I have no choice but to go for an iPhone, even if I didn't initially plan on spending over $700. It seems the best choice if I want to keep the phone for a long time, unless I make the sacrifice of buying a phone that's almost 2 years old...

Is the S21 still a good buy? For those who own it, how does the S21's bigger battery vs the S22's translate into your SoT? What apps do you use frequently?

If you own an S22 and you're having a better experience, how long have you had the phone? What's your average SoT and what apps do you use? Did you do any configurations to get a better battery life? Which chipset do you have, Snapdragon or Exynos?

And because TSMC is manufacturing it( and it being a newer SoC) it should be much more efficient than the S22 SoC is. Otherwise, I don't expect much of a difference between the two. But with the more efficient SoC and slightly larger battery, the S23 should have much longer battery life than the S22.

But I will definitely be getting an S23 at launch. Or even possibly an S23+. And trading in my S22 towards it.
