This is the highest resolution on Apple phones (although it could/should be higher), and it is the same on all Iphones in generation. As you know, s8, s9, s10 & s20 were having the same resolutions as the Ultra's versions. This should be the standard for newer models as well.

All the Apple phones have a lower resolution. Even the 6.7 inch version. Although the 6.7 inch version has only a slightly higher resolution than the others. But still below the Samsung Ultra. So at least with Samsung, their most expensive phone does have a much higher resolution screen. Unlike Apple.

Alexandre, 06 Feb 2022If you do that to maximize your trade in, alright, it'... moreThe phone needs to be able to fit in my front pocket. And my S21 just fits. The larger size phones won't do that. Plus, I want to be able to use the phone with one hand. Which I also can't do with the larger ones.

I would certainly love a larger screen, but having to use two hands to use and it not being able to fit in my pocket is not a trade-off I want to make.

I think that Apple did this year the job which need to do Samsung also. In fact, they should do it this year but they will not do it. Apple released IP13Pro & IP13Pro Max which are having the same components, functions, etc. except the screen & battery size.
Samsung would have to do something like this as well, as it was in the past (few years ago). Mutilating the smallest version so that users would go to buy the biggest model for their higher profit is shameful. Not everyone is interested and willing to buy phones of huge dimensions and diagonals and that should be somehow respected. Today we have A series phones with +6" screens, literally you don't have any Samsung phones which is under or equal to 6". Soon it will be S22 but it will not have all the functions of the Ultra model. I will not mention here the pen which is really unnecessary (take a place for larger battery) on the small model, but the cameras, screen resolution (leave it up to us to decide whether will use the higher resolution or not), memory should be the same. I understand that it is a problem to place the same camera modules in phone dimensions like s22, but this is something they have to solve and find a solution (better than it is now), it is ours just to buy such devices. With this approach the users will turn to other manufacturers, primarily Apple (if can get used to iOS). Foldable phones are maybe a solution but I'm not sure if Flip 3 can be called as compact device once it is open. Also here is noticeable problem with battery life.

aaronwt, 06 Feb 2022Charging a phone faster produces more heat and does more da... moreYou will not be noticing significant difference in less than 2 years, but as far as I know heat is not the biggest problem in batteries nowadays because it might feel hot in your hand but in reality it's well managed and to the battery it's usually gonna be at an acceptable temperature that will not degrade much. And going all the way down is not the biggest issue either, the biggest is all the way up. This is how batteries work, it's not an hidden secret, new electric cars will show you 100% battery when in reality the batteries are only about 70-80% full and they are managed to charge aroung 20%-75% as they are new to expose them to way less degradation and as they degrade the chip in the car expand that range so that through that car 100k or 200k miles the range of the car remains similar, only after that starting to degrade. At the end of the day, if you change your phone that often and you prefer to charge it at 0% to 100% it doesn't matter anyways, when you send it for a trade in after a year the battery will still be plenty no matter how you charge it

Still you gotta be careful with this year phone because it might feel exactly the same as you have right now. If you don't care that much about 400$ and you want to give yourself something really different go for the Ultra instead, if you want to gift yourself like that might as well go all out! Unless you really prefer small phones.

ALPHABOY17, 05 Feb 2022Finally someone with basic logic... I was staring at my mo... moreYeah I never compared like that, just know about my battery that is holding up perfectly after 2 years, but there you go, you're someone who has seen the results of constant 0-100 charges and it might not be coincidence your mother is still rocking her phone at almost full potential. I used to charge my iPhone 5s from 0-100 overnight because the charge was shitty and slow but nowadays charge is fast so with a new phone I decided to adopt this method that many studies corroborate and it got me the results I wanted so I might never go back to 0-100 every time, batteries nowadays easily go through a mild day of usage using only 50% of charge so I will only fully charge now for conveniency in days I will be putting on some heavy usage. Thank you for sharing, really interesting to know your experience!

ALPHABOY17, 05 Feb 2022Finally someone with basic logic... I was staring at my mo... moreSounds like something else was going on., That has never been my experience, slow charging my personal phones or my work phones. Although I don't use a work phone any more, ever since they tried to get me to use an iPhone. I tried it and hated it. Which only reinforced my use of Android phones.

Alexandre, 05 Feb 2022That's good for you my man. But I'm sure Samsung ... moreCharging a phone faster produces more heat and does more damage than charging it slowly.

I have never run into an issue slow charging my cellphones. I typically run them completely empty once a month. And they always go on a wireless charger overnight. I have never run into an issue with a battery on my Galaxy S phones. But I have only been using those since the S6. But even after two years on those phones I was still able to get many, many hours from a charge.

With my tablets I run them completely to empty before charging them, and they have always lasted many, many years. I was only keeping my phones every two years, but I never ran into an issue with a battery before. But now I'll be upgrading every year.

Alexandre, 05 Feb 2022I will never understand this kind of people that go out to ... moreI used to buy refurbished phones. And then starting with the S6 I started getting new phones. And I went with a two year buying cycle. But I was not buying from Samsung. I was buying and trading in from BestBuy. And then I switched from Verizon Postpaid to Verizon Prepaid which cut my cellular bills by over 60%. My savings more than covered a brand new phone every two years without a trade in.

But then I discovered the fantastic deals of getting my phones directly through Samsung. Great trade in prices and extra credits toward accessories. So when I upgraded from my S10 to an S21 I decided to go on a one-year upgrade cycle to maximize my trade in value.

It's very inexpensive, and a cellphone is only one of three devices I actually use every day. So it's more than worth it. But it's only a few hundred a year with trade in, at most. Eating lunch at work each month costs me more than that. Around $400 each month for lunch. So spending $300 or less each year on a new Galaxy S cell phone is really not much money at all.

Alexandre, 05 Feb 2022That's good for you my man. But I'm sure Samsung ... moreFinally someone with basic logic...
I was staring at my mom's phone when she was fast charging it from 20 to 80% almost all the time, while I was turning off the fast charging AND charging it to 0-100 all the time. Guess what, my old phone's battery is almost dead, her phone still works fine.

I'd rather have 500W charging than the same ol' 5W charging after this lesson.

Here's what i hate about Samsung
This phone is tiny. I hate small phones, but if i want the bigger plus model i have to pay an additional $200 for a phone that is identical except for the bigger screen
It doesn't help the fact that they also reduced the screen size
Give me the 6.9 inch screen that the Note 20 Ultra had but for something like $800 max and i'll be a happy man

I'm the same. The phone i'm using right now is an S8 that i bought in 2018. It still works fine, battery lasts long enough and serves every purpose
That's how upgrading is best done. You skip over 2 generations and when you move to the 3rd one you'll notice a change. Going from the S21 to S22 will feel no different because they're the same thing

Yes of course it is something that benefits them but it will not be missed by anyone because it is useless
