Screen manufacturing makes it expensive. I mean, about 30-40% of the budget for a smartphone is spent on the screen alone.
So yes. Those bezels are expensive to make thinner. Although, it's not an excuse for a company to make them big.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2024If you produce a compact budget phone with the worst specs ... moreWell, the A40 and A41 were compact versions of the A30 and A31 respectively. Both the A30 and A31 were decent enough midrange phones for the time, and were quite popular.

But the fact that the A4X series didn't live on, while the duplicates like the M3X and M5X series do, proves that the A40 and A41's sales fell below Samsung's expectations.

If the A40 and A41 were based on the A50 and A51 instead, would they have sold better? Likely, but I guarantee they would still not sell enough to warrant Samsung's attention to continue the A4X series.

That's just stupid. If it's decent enough with midrange specs (not looking for the fanciest or the best) there will be more than enough buyers.

What does simpler and less expensive manufacturing processes have to do with ADDING extra dead space around the display when it can simply NOT BE ADDED? Will ten feet bezels make the manufacturing process even cheaper?

“...such as using older display technologies or easier assembly methods.”
Who said not to use older displays on budget phones? What does that have to do with adding dead space around it which is a completely separate thing?

          Buddy, think before writing.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2024Here's the thing: the budget and flagship market for p... moreMaybe because the specs (chip, performance, camera, etc.) of the A10e and A20e were the bottom of the bottom. Perhaps if it was a little more decent it would have sold better. An A56e or A36e means a decent/midrange chip and camera on a compact body.

GoodBoy, 24 Aug 2024On the contrary wireless charging charges the phone slower ... moreYou don't really expect people to believe that a wireless charging pad doesn't cause a smartphone to heat up??? I'll have u know that last year I bought the Amazon Basics 15W Qi charging pad and the pad was getting very hot on the surface and charging at the fast 10w charging speed it was heating up my S23 Ultra to the point we're my smartphone got to hot and auto shut off itself from to much heat. I was afraid it was going to melt and catch fire. This year I bought the Spigen Qi 15W super fast charging pad stand. Although it pad itself gets hot it doesn't cause my S24 Ultra to get warm on the super fast 2.0 15w charging speed but doesn’t auto shut down itself. How ever I find that if I disable the fast charge on my S24 Ultra and charge at the slower rate very little heat builds up on the Spigen charging pad. So yes wireless charging pads can produce heat. My S24 Ultra takes all night to charge the S24 Ultra at the slower speed instead of 3 & 1/2 hours to charge my smartphone on the super fast 2.0 15w speed all the way up.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2024Someone wrote in an earlier comment that Samsung doesn'... moreHere's the thing: the budget and flagship market for phones is vastly different. The main driving force as to why Samsung only releases compact flagships is Apple, whose baseline iPhones (12/13/14/15) and non-Max iPhone Pros sell like hotcakes every year.

In the budget segment, the market is instead dominated by Chinese companies who only make big phones. So Samsung has to go with the flow.

What makes you people think an A55e or A35e with a 6.1 inch display would sell just as well as the S24? If the A10e, A20e, and A41 truly sold well, Samsung would make successors, but they didn't. That's enough proof small phones don't sell well in the budget segment.

Using EXTRA plastic, metal, or whatever material the phone's made of is cheaper? So if the phone would be ten feet tall that would be even cheaper?

Literally every other competitor has thinner bezels, punch hole displays and/or curved screens compared to Samsung, and it's not like their premium phones get butchered by sales of their budget ones. It shows that Samsung's budget phones are years behind in terms of design, and they should be ashamed of that.

It’s very wo... moreSuddenly my Redmi Note 13 Pro with a 6.67 inch display (89.8% screen-to-body ratio), 6.35 inch height, and 6.60 oz weight doesn't feel so heavy and oversized at all compared to Samsung's budget phones.

Hell, even the iQOO Z9 (China), which costs $260 managed to fit a 6000mAh battery on a device that's 8mm thick and 6.88 oz in weight, that's like 0.3mm thinner and 0.06 oz lighter than the Galaxy A25.

The Chinese are way ahead of Samsung in terms of engineering and it shows.
