Hey, what's the ideal "compact phone" for you?

For me compact means nice to use with one hand and a perfect size could be a 6-inches display in a 18:9 aspect ratio (instead of the usual 20:9).
Big enough to enjoy contents but small enough to easily use with one hand.
At the same time with no sacrifices for battery and cameras, except physical limitations.

What do you think?

Some facts:
- Nowadays all high-end smartphones have very thin bezels with about a 90% taken by the screen.
So we can have bigger screens without needing to make the phones bigger too.
- With the latest Android releases many people do navigate with gestures, so no more need of a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, helping to have extra space to enjoy the content on the screen.
- We need a larger screen especially to enjoy videos and pictures, but they are often cropped or resized to fit with the screen, which is often quite tall with about a 20:9 aspect ratio in most smartphone.
But most of the photo-video content is 4:3, 1:1, or 16:9 maximum, while only modern films may have like 20:9, but people looking for a compact smartphone are not willing to watch modern films on there, but they would rather make a mirroring to a larger screen, like a TV.

Hope they change the battery to 5000mAh and charging speed to 45W in S26. I'm getting a little bit tired of using huge phone (Currently using S24 Ultra)

Mr.luli, 02 Mar 2025Hi i bought a s25 last week and today i read about A56 feat... moreFirst of all why did you buy S25 if you knew the specs and aren't satisfied with them? Why are you blaming Samsung? S25 is a compact phone with smaller battery. Phones with smaller battery have slower charging. A56 doesn't have UWB either. S25+ has 45W charging and UWB. Why didn't you buy that? Now you come here and complain for no reason.

Hi i bought a s25 last week and today i read about A56 features there are many things upgradet on mid serie phone the charging is 45w (A56) and on s25 flagship phone is 25w another thing the camera on S25 is same as S23 and S24 nothing upgraded there is no support of Ultra Wideband (UWB) SHAME FOR SAMSUNG
I am user from Samsung S2 until know on S25 i think my next phone will be another brand like Xiaomi ,OPPO they oferr more for the money.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2025Hey all, looking for suggestions here. I am thinking about ... moreI upgraded S10e -> S25. Super Happy. Where are you seeing double price difference? In my country S24 256GB is 650€ and S25 256GB is 800€. I would easily pay extra for S25 because Snapdragon 8 Elite and 12GB RAM is much more future proof.

Bakhtiyar , 28 Feb 2025I want everything to change in the Samsung Galaxy S26, add ... moreYou do understand that these changes will also significantly increase the price, right? Basically you want to have all Ultra features but pay S25 price. That's not possible. Samsung maybe will do S26 with Ultra camera setups but you will not like the price and cry about it. Look at Pixel 9 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro. Much more expensive than S25.

I want everything to change in the Samsung Galaxy S26, add a 300 MP camera, a resolution of 1440 × 3348, RAM 12-16 GB, battery capacity instead of 4000 mAh 5000 mAh, together 25 W 45 W and the design will change.

I've had the Samsung S25 (256GB) for a week now and was previously using the iphone 12 mini. I was a confirmed iphone user but wanted a larger display and a 3x or 5x zoom on a new camera but keeping screen size to 6" or so. My wife has had the Samsung S23 for over a year and my daughter has the S24 and both are dlighted with the phones and camera results. I wanted to get an iphone 16 but the basic model is £849 with 256GB (and no telephoto) whilst the 16pro with 256GB is £1049. Iphones are excellent but overpriced.
Samsung have been running some very good deals with trade in / discounts and I have got the S25 with 256GB for £530 having traded in a very old Sony Z3 which had not been used for years. The S25 is fast, excellent screen and the camera has given me perfectly good results, the 3x telephoto is impressive; (my wifes S23 gave better results than my iphone 12 and the S25 has the same set up). Samsung have a new convert, the S25 is a brilliant phone and with the deal I got I think it excellent value ( I would not pay the £859 retail price for the 256GB phone but with the deals available there are bargains to be had). I'm well pleased with it and the battery life is very good - doesn't need charging every day.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2025Hey all, looking for suggestions here. I am thinking about ... more6 vs 7 years of updates is honestly indifferent. the chipset difference isnt major, considering how well the e2400 closed the gap cpu wise, and tied it gpu wise, but the 8e is strictly better.

People would like budget compact options from Samsung that are recent and they don't have any, nor are they planning to make one. The last time they ever had a budget compact phone was with the Galaxy A41 back in 2020.

Hey all, looking for suggestions here. I am thinking about retiring my S10e after it serving me a graceful 5 years. I love compact phones and would still keep this one if only the (lack of) updates weren't killing it. I am considering the S24 and S25. S24 has a great price at my provider (half of the S25) right now, but I am already losing one year of software support, and would get the weaker Exynos chipset, and the S25 is promising more battery life. Question is, is the double price worth it for the extra year of updates, Snapdragon chipset and slightly bigger battery capacity?
