Hmm, 12 Feb 2025You are trolling right? It's hard to believe you. Same... more> Sure... 50mp vs 12mp.
You don't understand the interaction between sensor size and megapixel count. Most real pro/prosumer cameras don't even reach 50MP, and those that do (or exceed it) always have at least full-frame or medium format sensors. This cannot be compared with the pinhead-sized sensors in smartphone cameras, where the sweet spot in terms of resolution to color rendition and noise performance is probably closer to 8 or 10MP. The megapixel race on smartphones is a complete gimmick, and besides, the S25 already shoots in 12MP mode by default; the best setting.
> Telephoto vs no telephoto.
This is valid, but you're also forgetting about the S10e's variable aperture, the lack of which is really a downgrade. Ideally we'd have both.
>I mean S10e was good, I still have it as a backup, but don't carried away with posting such exaggerations.
The area where the S10e fails is the hard-coded overdone noise reduction automatically applied to all pictures taken in the default camera app that makes them look like an oil painting when you zoom in a little. In this area, the S25 is much better, and is able to get more detailed images as a result. The S25 also has better color rendition in ideal conditions (outdoors, gentle sunlight), but images taken in low light (particularly in very warm ambient light) have an extremely ugly and weird grey-yellowish cast, while the S10e renders warm tones far more accurately. I suspect there is something wrong with the auto white balance on this latest extended generation of Samsung cameras.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2025Wait till you load it up with apps , wont be as optimised a... moreYou really need to learn about modern Android because your knowledge is stuck in year 2012. Android now has great memory and battery management features. Unused apps get cleared from RAM, and even put to sleep if not used for extended period of time. There is no battery drain either (and if on a rare occasion some app misbehaves, you get clear indication and can deal with that app).

Hmm, 10 Feb 2025S25 with SD 8 Elite, identical performance and 99% same fea... more"Samsung can make small S26 with Ultra cameras and identical features" - actually they can't as they don't want to invest in reconfiguring the place of the components in the phone because it is an expense they want to avoid + it seems not possible to implement all those features from Ultra model (for ex. cameras) in small factor. What they consciously do is to use the same type of construction for years (that's why the size of the battery has been almost identical for years), because in this way they exploit the existing platform to the maximum with minimal investments related to adapting the new processor.

As for how it compares to your precious Xiaomi I don't know but grass is always greener on the other side. You can sell your S25, buy Xiaomi an then you'll find something you don't like there as well.

I decided to wait s25 and got it before few days ago. I had s10e before with 128gb. idea was to upgrade the internal storage and to have a better processor. it works very well, design is very good as I expected. for this price I expected to have better camera but i confess that my s10e was with the same quality so no upgrades after 6 years from the release date. just compared with my wife's xiaomi 14 and the camera quality is stunning and the difference is very big that is visible from the first look. i don't know but this was a big mistake to buy samsung again. wanted to get more secure than chinese phones because I am also using it for work but I don't know if there is an option to return it back. I am angry to myself that I made such a blind decision. it is not cheap so the quality is not good as expected.

Does anyone know when S25 will start receiving OS and security updates? I had mine for 2 weeks and it's on Android security update December 1. My phone is official status and not modified in any way. Haven't had any OS updates except for apps from Google/Samsung stores.
