If your S5 is lagging, it's probably because of a recent OS update. You need to clear the cache partition. I did and it runs like new now.
1) Turn off the phone.
2) Hold down the Home button, the Power button, and the Volume Up button all at the same time. After a few moments, the phone will turn off and it will indicate that it is going into Recovery mode.
3) Use the volume keys to navigate and power button to confirm. You'll want to wipe the cache partition. You won't lose any data, it's just a cache.
After the wipe, reboot the phone and voila!

Now there is S9, but I will keep my S5 for one year more. As I and children drop it sometimes, S9 is too fragile with too much glass. Hope Samsung will give it up and came out with something more usable like A8 (2018), but with better camera.

MY IR BLASTER or universal remote Sensor (for controlling electronic ) is not working and that is one of my main reason I went for this phone. Can it be replaced??? Or is it on board ?
I checked the sensor with another phone's camera and the light is not blinking as it use to do on my Samsung s4.
I need your urgent help please.

I am a Samsung Galaxy S5 & Note 4 fan. Both of these have were the last ones to have removable batteries & removable memory. This lets me always be able to use them. Batteries eventually wear out & won't charge anymore. But these phones are technically here forever -- due to their removable factors.
Also, there is an application that lets you take a picture of your self while taking a pic of something else i.e. a Sunset, a cloud group, being with friends etc. That app is no longer available in the later phones. I do have a Note 8 via unique circumstances. App is not available. The work arounds are not my preference although interesting.
