For water protection they must have put some kind of wrapping around the speaker, that's why it sounds muffled. It's a mono speaker anyway, who cares how it sounds, it will be average to bad anyway ;)

I am still not pleased with the sound especially when on speaker phone....or is it just my phone.my friend has a S4 and when playing music on you tube I just got to shut off mine....

The specifications don't mention if it is water resistant, water proof or if you should keep it away from water at all costs. I would be terribly afraid to wear something like this without it being waterproof. I would probably kill it (by accident of course) in the first week if it wasn't waterproof.
