To be on the safer side, I performed a factory reset before downloading the OTA update. Samsung usually doesn't provide update changelog which kinda sucks. There was always a white background in Settings > Sound & Vibration > Sound Mode. Android security patch updated to October. Android Security Patch for November is already available for Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge in the US.. Clock & Email app icon is changed. No other changes or bugs found.. But camera performance in low-light and artificial lighting condition is degraded after the update. Even with low ISO (50 or 80), there's visible noise in the corners which wasn't the case before the update. Earlier the low light shots looked really great with no noise or other artefacts. Even the viewfinder shows noise in artificial light in both auto & pro mode. Zooming in photos show clear noise and lack of fine details. Now it feels like I'm using a phone with an above average camera instead of an excellent camera. I did extensively use the camera after installing the update and reached to the conclusion that Samsung intentionally degraded the camera performance after the update. This is clearly planned obsolescence at work from Samsung. I'll have to downgrade to the earlier software version now. :(

dbd, 23 Nov 2017Post this update while rebooting my S7 got freezed to Samsu... moreIt's because of old cache, sometimes happens.. if you have backup do one thing...press home button +vol up+power button at the same time, hold for 30 sec and bootloader menu will open..navigate with volume button and wipe data and wipe cache. Voila. It should boot fine with the new version. It's clean and best way to install updates. I've done the dirty one i.e without formatting but working fine. Regarding update I haven't noticed anything new except the change in security patch no to Oct 2017 from Aug 17. Let me know if that helps.

Just got update today for S7 in India. November Security Patch is available for S7 in different countries but in India, Samsung is giving only October Security Patch.. Still no Samsung Experience UI for this flagship phone when my sister's Galaxy J7 (2016) cheap phone already got Nougat update with Samsung Experience UI. Samsung giving worst treatment to flagship phone owners. Update policy of Samsung totally sucks, I'm pissed off thank you Samsung. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

When called the customer care, they told me few tricks but it didn't worked. So they are asking me to bring the mobile to service center 2mrow. The S7 was showing Samsung logo for 1.5hr then it got discharged and got switched off automatically.

Got a new update for S7 here in India. It's the first update I'm getting after my phone arrived. Update size is 414 MB. Samsung don't provide changelog so if anyone already having installed the update, please mention the improvements and bugs, if any, in this new update.

You just haven't come across the bugs yet, but generally speaking if there's a bug in stock android, it will also be present in downstream versions of Android.

I would stay away form any Samsung product. They have by far the worst customer service of any manufacturer ever. They do not stand behind their products, not do they understand that it is the consumer that keeps them in business. I spent 3 weeks dealing with an issue and just kept getting the run-around because they wouldn't take responsibility that their phone had a mother board issue, and it was only 5 weeks old. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service.

Every Galaxy S and Note series phone is guaranteed 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of security updates. Not only that. Their updates are very stable and polished. They're bug-free unlike stock Android which is full of issues and takes several consecutive updates to fix.
LG is garbarge. They abandon their phones after 1 or 2 years.

And all of these brands i mentioned have much stable and better software support than Samsung, the Oneplus 5 and LG G6 and probably the xzs will get further update support than the s7.
It is also worth to mention the HTC 10 one of the best cameras of 2016.....
