I can also testify that the phone can survive drops. I dropped my S8 Plus on to a tiled surface twice and it survived with not one bit of damage.
I would lying if I said that I didn't think myself lucky though as I do think it's not the most sturdy of phones. You just have to hold it to determine with a bit of common sense that it could break quite easily if dropped. I also now use a case because I think I have been very lucky and by using a case it does not mean I can't take it off at times to enjoy the beauty and feel the phone in all its glory.
There has been so much negativity surrounding the fragility of the S8's and I'm not arguing that they are not vulnerable to damage. BUT if you look at all the flagships, I don't think there is one that you could drop and be sure of NO damage.
People also have to bare in mind that yes you will see many people claiming that their S8's have broken online when dropped but this does not represent the true picture, as you won't hear from many people that have dropped their phone and it didn't suffer damage, as they will just pick it up and get on with their day quite happy whereas if a person that suffers damage will be raging and will use social media etc to vent their fury. Also fanboys of other Brands will simply lie to try and put the S8's in negative light or trolls will lie to provoke reaction.

Hello guys I'm currently using S7 edge and in planning to buy a new one. Could someone suggest me on which one should I buy, S8 or Note FE? I want a different user experience. I can't get Note8 due to it's price but I got some pretty good deal which S8 and Note FE costs around 500EURO (MYR 2499).

Thank God for the Samsung Team. Was just having a presentaion/seminar, and my S8 fell from an elevated platform almost 4 feet where it was being charged. It made a loud thud on the hard floor and I was scared to pick it up. To my surprise and the team here; the front and back is totally intact, only a very slight scratch on the aluminium above but almost invisible. I would've been heartbroken and I can only praise God. Thank you Samsung from a customer in Nigeria, Africa.

Just make sure you set up your face in a very lit environment and tilt your phone in different angles to represent as many scenarios as u can.

As regards to the position an alignment, as per Samsung official web page

Can some galaxy S8 users tell me about their experience with the face unlock feature ? Does it work all the time ? How about the angle the phone should be held ? Should it be right in front of your face or does it unlock even if the phone is a bit lower than the face level( i mean the normal position we use our phones) and finally is it easy and convenient to use or does it fail often ?

I think the most sensible thing to do is to take the phone To a service centre asap as this could be a hardware issue and the sooner you address it the better.
People could advise you to do a hard reset or clear cache and data from the Iris scanner (without hard reset) but the safest thing to do is to go straight to service centre.
Depending on the Consumer law in your country or the specific terms in which you have bought the phone under may give you additional options if you are within a certain time period (this can vary country to country) I had option to demand a replacement or my money back if I returned within 30 days, no questions asked if I had a fault. So worth checking your rights.
Sorry might not be the answer that you are looking for but its the most sensible thing to do in my opinion. I looked to see.if it was a widespread problem and could not find evidence for that other than a very limited isolated cases and the cases that I saw, finally had to go.back to the shop or to service centre.

hab, 12 Dec 2017you cant use iris or face ID after restart phone, first you... moreno im not talking about that. I am talking about you cannot use iris scanner no matter what even in setting if i try to re register it says iris scanner not responding try again later. fingerprint sensor, facial recognition works only iris scanner and some sensors dont work.

as MKBHD reviewed the phone is almost perfect,
superior screen
OK battery life
amazing perfomance
average speaker
perfect design
and the finger scanner location is not an issue...its only slow not that fast.
and dont compare the devices precisley as every device has it's own lackness...its an overall package you have to view and consider.
