Anonymous, 11 Sep 2022Apparently notYeah I wouldn't hold my breath for this one. From the lack of Samsung saying anything to the December expiration date of the confidentiality agreements on the FCC certs, the release date could probably be from November to December.

Owned the Xcover 4; i liked it a lot and this way became a Samsung fan. The only thing the Xcover 4 needed was some ooomph.

I opened a chat with a Samsung agent and was told that their internal communications show Sept 10, 2022 for US release.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2022seen a few places saying sept. 10th for U.S. releaseYeah, google returns that for a search on release date using content they extracted from specsera. Problem is, zero citation (not even "samsung internal leak"), and not a hint from Samsung. Dates are all over the map if you browse around.

Oh well. here's hoping. We'll see in a week..

I started wearing vests just to handle modern phones (hate carrying them in the pants pockets), but this one is even a bit too tall for my usual vest pocket. And they made it thinner for no good reason - now it even has a slight camera bump - and they did not increase the battery size. At least we can reuse the battery from the XCover Pro.

Still, it is my most favorite phone so far.

IPS LCD screen was not as bright as Superamoled screens under sunshine, but it was useable, little limiting but no major problem. But this new Xcover6 Pro has different type of screen: PLS LCD.

But what I do not understand is why they made phone bigger than Xcover Pro. That size increase (8.9mm) in my case means some complications when storing phone in car, in clothing pockets etc.

Unfortunately, it has pointed out a serious shortcoming... max screen brightness of only 429 cd/m² is inadequate for use outdoors in bright sunlight. I had planned to procure a large quantity of these for our company but I think this will be a deal breaker.

Any word on when this is coming to the US market? Or is it TBA and probably Q4 2022 or Q1 2023 because of all the FCC hoops?

That is why devices have software hacks to prevent it. The thing is, while software hacks can help, the underlying issue still exists even if the interface elements are not permanent. That issue is that the organic components wear out over time and become less effective. This issue has not changed even if software hacks can mitigate the noticeable burn-in. A phone, especially one intended for industrial use, will be used outdoors for long periods of time which worsens the problem compared to, say, an OLED TV is often used outdoors where the light levels can be much lower.

935Baby, 18 Aug 2022Does the screen work with polarized sunglasses? When phone ... moreThere is no single answer to this question, as the interference depends on the specific glasses and specific screen. My XCover Pro does not turn dark with my polarized glasses, regardless of angle. With the same glasses my XCover6 Pro gets a little shaded at an angle slightly off-landscape. Conversely, I have seen iPhones and Huaweis go full black under the same glasses.

If the operation with your particular glasses is important to you, then you need to test this for yourself, I am afraid. Pretty much any modern phone can go black when viewed through the "wrong" polarized glasses, and no one can tell in advance whether your combination is one of those.

Does the screen work with polarized sunglasses? When phone is rotated to landscape mode? Previous model went kompletely dark when rotated to landscape mode (for example when taking photos with camera).
