With A-GPS the navigation uses the network, network charges apply, however the navigation may be free as in Nokia N97 mini. With A-GPS without the sim card it would not work. In simple terms - GPS works offline, A-GPS will not work offline. Am I clear?

Bacause in India n5230 only has A-GPS and not GPS (also mentioned in nokia india site). Did you buy this in Europe / US ? (Nokia europe site says it has GPS ans A-GPS). Please reply. My Phone just hangs in between and then there is no option other than opening up it case and removing the battery and then reinserting it to restart - any ida - what may have gone wrong ??

I think it's necessary to backup.
I mean not file, but contact and your sms.
b'coz after upgrade to froyo, u have to do hard reset (it will erase all of ur data, include contacts, messages, and application)

u need to download odin, ops file, and froyo firmware on samfirmware.com
extract all file (on firmware extract I5500LUYJP2 so u'll get I5500LAROJP2)
open odin
choose the OPS file from file you've downloaded.
thick "one package"
choose firmware I5500LAROJP2
turn off ur phone
take out sd card and ur gsm card
put battery in
press (volume down+middle button+ on button)until u see the triangle with "download"
plug the cable data on your PC usb
wait until the box turn yellow in odin
press start in odin
wait
voila !! now you have froyo on your phone :D
now, hard reset by press *2767*3855#

turn off gps on setting > location and security > unthick the gps.
try launcherpro, it's the best in market.
hands down ^^
or u can try adw launcher.

Open the Notifications screen on your phone (pull down a finger from the top of the screen to the bottom) and select the USB Storage notification
Choose “Mount”
Browse to the SD Card on your PC
Look for a folder called media, if it’s not there, create it by right clicking and choosing New Folder, then rename the folder to be media
Inside the media folder, you need a folder called audio, again, if it’s not there create it as above
Inside the audio folder, you can create a subfolder for the sound category you want to change-
ringtones – for sound files you want to use as ringtones
alarms – for sound files you want to use for any alarms
notifications – for incoming notifications such as SMS alerts, emails, etc
Copy the sound or music file which you’d like to use as your ringtone in to the relevant folder
You should now see your sound or music file listed in the menu for selection in the relevant sound settings menu
(to access the ringtone/notification settings, press the hard Menu key from one of your home screens, then press Settings then Sounds and Display)

ryo, 15 Dec 2010nope, my battery is fine.. even it longer than eclair.
may... morewhere can i turn off the gps? hehe.
oh by the way, i am using zeam as my home replacement app, i wonder why i can't see my games installed on the sd card. but when i switch to the original home screen, it's there...
