I bought an Omnia HD a month ago.. It kicks the butts of all other phone.. Has the best camara.. no noise in pic plus so many modes and settings for personolizing..
Video playback,, Killing
Played a HD .avi file with bitrate of 18,000Kbps.i.e 1.8 mbps..
Sad Nokia, apple and others.. cant go beyond 2.5 to 3 mbps..
Video recording
HD .avi at 8000kbps
Display..
Play same video simultaneous on Omnia an iphone and u'll feel the iphone's screen is white..
Copy paste,
Copy pasted 300Mb from mass memory to memory card in 2.5 mins..
Browser issues???
Use opera mobile 10.. smoother than iphones safari plus download..ya but there is flash player 10 in its phone browser..
Battery
Normal use-Watch HD videos, talk, click some pics, browse net-continously--- 3.5 hrs-- battery 100 to one stroke,,
On one bar of battery Whatched entire 3 hrs movies but still no sign of battery low...
BEST MOBILE IN WORLD no doubt..

I was just pointing out that the "HD" video seems to be overhyped. GSMarena has stated quite a few problems. However, i will be looking forward to the other samsung phone with 12 mp which is capable of HD which seems much better.

where did u download the so... moreHey Hamid,
I'll provide u with the links that i used to get my firmware source files. i will also guide u as to how to alter the file paths in order to have a smooth and successful flash. make sure u have windows XP OS and all will be fine! The accelerometer has add functions where it stops the music and video and calls and alarm. But u have two options :-
1. flash to the italian IG2 firmware then use PC Studio to update to XXII1
2. flash directly to XXII1 like i did

Lost of games and converter is not a must since i only flashed my phone last night and i still have full access to my converter and instead of one i got three games so i doubt that u will lose anything. maybe its the firmware that u flashed too, i flashed to the latest italian I8910XXII1 firmware so i have all the updates!

to people wanting to flash the firmware!!
flashing firmware will cause your phone to delete factory converter, dictionary, and asphalt 4 game!!!!!!!!!!! you can never get it back. Unless you can find it online. I tried to reinstall the factory converter and dictionary without success. Can't find it anywhere on samsung sites!!!!!

In order for u to go back to your original firmware you must first find have the firmware on stand by so that u can re-flash your phone! I give u a link, see if ur firmware is in the list!

I'm at work right now so i cant access the link here, but i'll do so when i get home! The process itself isnt as simple as the video attached shows(TRUST ME, u still need to alter the file path and only then will it work! There is alot of copying and renaming involved as well! My phone still has the bootloader, the pc studio is still responding, the only difference is that in addition to asphalt there is a poker game and some other game, there a few more widgets and the download folder i mentioned in the earlier post is like an app store shortcut but most of the apps aren't free! the browser responds quicker and it loads faster! but the basic interface is the same just a few improvements! I'm not sure if the flashed would affect your language pack but if it is stored in the mass memory then its not affected when flashed! But be sure to have Windows XP OS! 'll give u the link!

i realy interested to do so...but so scared i never did such a job before:(
warranty is bullsh*t here but the worse thing is, i may loose my language farsi pack so e.g wont be able to send farsi text anymore...am i right BTW(loosing the language pack)?
Do u still able to update ur phone officially via its pc studio later after flashing? and is there any chance to go back to ur original pre-installed firmware??

Unfortunately, now that we have a retail unit, we're not as impressed with the video quality as we were when we previewed the pre-release version. The Samsung Omnia HD video recording is still miles ahead of the competition but the results in our preview were definitely better. Perhaps the improvement of the audio quality has resulted in lowering of the video quality as a compromise.
The video resolution is no longer stunning as it was and when you add the excessive camera shake, the impression that you're looking at something taken by a dedicated HD digital camcorder is all gone.
In almost all the cases the framerate was variable and went below the promised 24fps giving the videos somewhat choppy looks. We aren't talking disastrously many dropped frames but there are about one every second in some videos. You might not even notice that if shooting slower moving objects but more rapid movements looks bad. The Samsung Omnia HD is not really the soccer mom's dream.
The Omnia camcorder interface is identical to the one of the still camera and allows the user to choose between fixed and auto focus for the video. Effects are also available and a gridline can be applied to the viewfinder for easier framing.
Strangely enough image stabilization isn't available when shooting video and that is precisely where we would have needed it the most. The camera shake is seriously plaguing most of our samples.
Recording time is not exactly limited, the real limit is imposed on the maximum file size for each recording. In this case videos don't get any bigger than 2GB. With 720p recording that means 30-40 minutes of footage and we cannot see anyone needing much more.
When you are done recording a video clip, the Omnia HD displays the viewfinder but doesn't let you start another recording straight away. Instead you have to wait for a while, as the handset saves the video in its memory. Now this is to be expected with such large files but a status indicator would have been nice so you can tell when you are ready to start another recording.
Is it just me, or is this phone's video extremely overhyped?

I kno i said that i would wait but i just couldnt! I FLASHED to the I8910XXII1 firmware! It has the 3d multitask option the dial keys have letter added, there is a downloads shortcut in the apps folder, the browser stop bug is no more, i havent checked the camera or video as yet, music is amazingly loud and clear, aac codec seems better than the one on my previous firmware! all in all its great but the process wasnt easy! Now instead of my handset starting up as the SAMSUNG I8910 HD its now the SAMSUNG OMNIA HD, i just did it like seconds ago so i'm not sure and i too signed the petition number 527 lol now back to hacking this baby.

Hardware has failed this phone tremendously. Started with the poor speaker quality and then went on with software issues.
Maybe Samsung should do a Omnia HD mini ... and re launch this. It will be a good time to do this especially when n97 mini is doing really well and SE is about to announce Kurara.
The specs on paper looks awesome but they need to bring the price more to reality and focus on improving the size and quality. Sad to see Samsung starting the game well ahead but its way behind Sony and Nokia for 2009 on smartphones that is :)
