Samsung have actually released thh latest firmware update in the UK, you just cant download it yourself.

If anyone in the UK is having any issues with their i8910, if they contact Samsung they will allow you to take it into a local service centre for the update.

I know this because Samsung contacted me the other day and told me to take it to a phone place for the update to be applied.

beeb, 13 Jul 2009Is the operations in this Omnia HD and Omnia i900 the same?... moreThe Omnia i900 program not same as Omnia HD. The Omnia HD is same Nokia symb. S60 Plat form. But Original Omnia i900 is Wndow mobile 6.0. The Omnia 2 is a new version of i900.

Actualy the Omnia HD is called Samsung i8910. Samsung does not call i8910 Omnia. they change their mind. I do not know why gsmarena call this phone Omnia. by the way you can look at Samsung Jet too. it is a nice phone and much cheaper.

roelrpt, 13 Jul 2009hhhmmm.. My heart is divided with this mobile and LG's BL4... moreThe LG phone and this phone Samsung not same. The quality of screen, and Symb. S60 Program of Nokia on this phone of making it Smart Phone and being HD already put it way head of LG Phone. Read the Spec. on gsmarena.

rchrdrdr, 12 Jul 2009I know this sort of queston is being hammered to death, but... more@ rchrdrdr said: "The camera on the i8910 is sweet for a phone. Well spoken man! that is probably the best i-crap mouth-shutting reply I have seen in a while. Not that I have something against iphone. It is just that I feel the right thing previals at the end. And IMHO I can't see something more convenient than to carry such an all-in-one hell of a device. But enough is enough Samsung, release it yet!

The i8910 is unuseable in sunlight I find especially if you want to take pictures which is a fault of AMOLED screen, that loses this otherwise fine phone many marks

Jenelyn, 13 Jul 2009What do TV-out (for SD content only)mean?? its stands for standard definition only...... (no hd content unless you go through dlna) so if you record in hd it cannot play through tv out off your phone because there is no hdmi ports on it, but if you record non hd @ 30 fps then that will work with the audio video cable through the 3.5 jack just like n95 and iphone

I bought this phone about a month ago and I have to admit, between my Iphone 3G and N97, I keep using this one the most. Here are some pro’s about the phone.
                            • Screen – its the best that I have ever seen on a mobile phone.
                            • Camera – excellent picture quality especially in bright areas. Does a pretty good job in low light conditions as well. Love the panorama feature.
                            • HD video recording – with the audio fix firmware, much better. Due to the size of file it creates in the HD mode, you tend to not use it as much but still great to have. (pain in the butt for it to upload- takes too long)
                            • Call quality – clear and loud, its even better than my iphone 3g. I live on the 27th floor and both my iphone and n97 call quality cuts in and out when I receive or place calls... Don’t have this issue with Omnia HD.
Here are somethings I don’t like
                            • Could have done a better job with the design... kinda reminds of a china phone (clone)
                            • Battery life – its okay... iphone does last longer. For whatever reason, batt lasts a bit longer when I charge it while the phone is off. Some other tips – turn video sharing off and packet data off. The battery does last full day.
                            • Web browsing – Iphone dominates in this area. Its not that its bad on the omnia HD(just as good as any other symbian or ericsson out there), its just that if you are used to using the iphone’s safari, every other mobile handset internet browsing experience... sucks.

Overall, I like this phone! Its fast, has a great camera and video (both record and playback), and the screen makes my eyes feel refreshed every time I look at it lol
I see a lot of post who can’t make up their mind on which phone to get (iphone vs. Omnia HD). My advice is if you still have your 3G, keep it and get the omnia HD as ur 2nd phone. I didn’t get the 3gs, I know, I know, its faster and it records video... I have no issues with my 3G and would rather have a different piece of technology. If you have no choice and is able to get only one of them... me personally, I would get the Iphone even tho I love the omnia HD.

                                    Quote;
There's a slight complication, in that to get this firmware update you need to already have an Italian firmware loaded on the phone; this update will then be available through Samsung's PC Suite. However there are numerous websites on the internet indicating how to download and flash your i8910 to an earlier Italian firmware using other tools.

I know this sort of queston is being hammered to death, but does anyone know when the global release date is for this puppy? Come on- somebody throw me something!

Oh, and for the people who are going on on about how the 3gs is a better device, or why a camera is not too important because one can carry a 'real' one around:

Head on over to MacRumors. There are are so many people who complain about the new iPhone. Discoloration. Overheating. Cracks, cracks and more cracks. The iPhone is too restricted of a device. And, while the UI may be smooth, the hardware specs just aren't up to snuff. It seems that both the 3g and 3gs are constantly being sent back in for replacements. That sucks. Where is the cuild quality?

The camera on the i8910 is sweet for a phone. Who wants to carry around a dedicated canon or nikon all the time?
