This isn't the perfect phone...
But it's the best value for money you can buy.
I have tried one and it's definitely better than any other!
It has set new standards!

I just bought my Omnia HD 2 days ago ... i NEVER in my life liked an samsung..but when i saw this on the market...just blow my minds out !
i have to chose from this and HTC Touch HD... who said that the camera is bad ...well i must say that you are VERY WRONG , you must to set the shaking option each time when you take a pic. but when you set this on ..the pics are GREAT , the screen is very responsive (no probs) it`s fast , shinny and very smart ..it`s all what i want , upgrade from N95 8Gb and Bb Storm ... IS FAR AWAY From both :) it`s like having and N95 8Gb but 10 times Smarter and cuter and ...etc NICE PHONE

JP, 21 Jun 2009Yup, tested this phone out at the Samsung Shop in Plaza Sin... moreI personally enjoyed the Samsung Omnia HD.

I tried the Samsung Omnia HD, Omnia 2, Omnia Pro(s), Omnia Lite, Pixon 12, I7500 and Jet (which by the way, can also be tried at the Samsung shop at Plaza Singapura) at CommunicAsia last week.

The Samsung Omnia HD came across as the one which is most responsive. It has an excellent touchscreen. Just a note, Samsung Omnia HD uses a capacitive screen, which thus theoretically makes it a smoother touchscreen experience. I currently use a Samsung Preston, which also uses a capacitive screen. I find it very impressive. It is a very smooth experience to type even an email. My personal opinion about the Nokia N97 is that even though there is a physical keyboard, which is what I want, the keyboard is not optimal. Compared to HTC Touch Pro 2, N97's keyboard is not as comprehensive and user-friendly.

Samsung Omnia HD came across as more user friendly, compared to even Omnia 2. But I don't think anyone should comment until Omnia 2 gets its Windows 6.5 upgrade, which I think will change the way the phone will run.

My personal opinion is that Samsung Omnia HD is an overall excellent phone. It is comparable to Nokia N97 and Sony Ericsson Satio. But I would not go as far as to judge anyone against the other, because they have all different strengths and are meant for different groups of people.

Yup, tested this phone out at the Samsung Shop in Plaza Singapura. Its going to be launched in SG next week.

Nothing that great to shout about. Screen is big but the touch screen seems not very responsive. Maybe because its been tested by many. But then again, its a msg saying that the screen may not last long to wear and tear. Camera is 8MP but honestly, a 5MP Camera from Carl Zeiss or Cybershot is far better. Infact the 8MP on N86 is by far the best camera I've tested on a phone.

Sound output is mediocre, and applications are limited. Mostly on the widget interface. Its a good try but as most Samsung Symbian phones, I bet the end-of-life on this is within 3 mths. They will kill the product not for any reason but because it will have to fiercly battle with the Omnia II and Omnia Pro (winmo based) models. Going by history, their WinMo phones tends to last longer in the market than the Symbian ones.

Go for it unless u intend to show off or want the flavour of the month. If u want something with a lasting impression and smarter/value for money, go for N97. I decided N97 was the best option since its simple, neat, elegant and mostly has tonnes of applications to download.

The Omnia HD is also longated and wide. Might not fit well in the hands. Besides, I heard someone mention in this forum that the price is going to be S$1,600 which is like USD $1,000 at launch. Forget it folks, no one is going to splash this short of money on a mobile these days.

Great effort but poor product roadmap from Samsung for long term sustainability.

however I disagree with you about progress over 12 years - that phone was only for calls and SMS messages, not even talking that it was much 2x bigger and heavier - no camera, no games, no applications, no touchscreen, no internet browsing, no music player, no radio and so on and so on... nothing at all! only one black/white scrolling line on the screen, calls and SMS, c'mon man, progres is huge, you have to admit this:)

Has anyone had any issues with getting HD content onto your PC? The MP4 file type seems to not be supported by most software and editing software. I'm wanting to start editing and creating HD movies on my PC but this is difficult as the MP4 format does not seem to be supported by most programs. also Pc studio 7 does not allow me to save HD videos onto my PC, in a HD format.

Does anyone have any ideas how to combat this, or what software supports this file type?

so this phone is one of the latest phone this year, but n97 is so much better even this is 8mp and also its HD, nokia n97 can beat it by its multimedia feature for not only picture, video but also for music quality

Actually, that canbe said about the ford T and any modern car.
Cars should be much more developed, environmentally-friendly and .- above all - CHEAPER!
But, as far as phones go, this is - for the time being - the best phone around.
Although... as it happens with many other phones and consumer goods, it's too expensive (for me, at least)...
