Pros:
A fantastic phone. Very powerful graphics accelerator for it's time and screaming fast processor. Not to mention, easy to overclock from 1.0 to 1.2 without even needing to touch the stock voltage (I use Tegrak for OCing). Also, the 720p video's are very nice, very vibrant colors.

Cons:
The stock AT&T ROM is horrible. If you want to unleash this phone's potential you absolutely need to install a custom ROM. Battery life could be much better.

I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone who is tech savvy.

Captivate, Vibrant, Mesmerize, Fascinate... i feel bad for the american users, really.

All those variants of a stock phone (Galaxy S) obviously lead to a lack of support, and to more restraint communities.

Here in Europe, we have the original Galaxy S, whatever the carrier, with slight software layers and tweaks. But it remains a true I9000 Galaxy S nonetheless, which means an easier access to firmware upgrades and a more developped community.

yeah, 6 hours of standby is a broken phone, for sure. If I literally never turned on the screen, my phone would be find for a couple days.
I don't make hardly any calls, but with a fair amount of texts and internet browsing, with a bit of gaming, I get through the day no problem. By the end of the night I'm usually around 10-15% remaining.

kara, 05 Jul 2011The battery life is terrible, it says standby is like 750 h... moreBy "stand by" the accurate definition I think it would be, No apps open whatsoever (Like anti-virus) your 3G off, and not txting or calling at all. Which is imposible for not to do any of these things, so yeah. But pretty much every Smartphone or Android based ones, baterry are lasting around that much of time, its a BIG cons on these new phones, cause you have to be watching the battery or caring your charger for your car, usb or power supply. I have an Xperia Mini 10 the battery last at most 5hrs or so; and a HTC Inspire 4G which it last 7hrs

I originally upgraded by Blackberry to the Motorola Bravo. When I talked to the rep from my service provider I asked two questions. 1: Will it work with my Cox email account? I was told yes but the truth is NO it does not work with my Cox email. Question 2: Will it sync with my Outlook on my computer? I was told yes. The truth is NO. There were apps that would do it but after the trial version it only synced my pictures. No emails, contacts or calender. I called my provider and really pitched the bitch and now I am getting the Samsung i897 Captive. So far I'm reading good things. I am now asking you, the consumer community 1:Will it work with my Cox email and will it sync with Outlook? Any info would be great.
                          Thanks,
                          Warren O

Well I have had the Captivate since march and I love it, the only problem I have with it is there is no flash and if there is I have no idea how to activate it. Other than that I love it. I also like the large display. I havent had a problem with it so far.
