guyz i have this galaxy s and updated to 2.3.4 gingerbread....with this update the phone is very awesome no lag no hang problems,its super fast now..........

Guys, I need your help. I REALLY WANT TO BUY THIS PHONE: Awesome price, Outstanding Screen, Fast Processor, but my only worry is the lag. I've seen a couple of videos in Youtube where there is a 10-12 second lag to open something as basic as the dial screen. Is this normal? I have read many such posts on XDA too, where they say that installing a lagfix solves all this. I don't want a phone where I will have to void my warranty, and learn how to root, etc just to make it functional. Please tell me, is the lag really that bad? I am currently using a Nokia 5800, so anything is probably an improvement.

I really hope someone can help me! I have the i9000 Galaxy S (awsum fone ) and when i connect it to samsung kies, kies does not recognise it, it keeps saying "connecting" but it won't. I have re-installed kies and it did not work I even re-did my whole computer installing a fresh copy of Windows XP. I have connected my i9000 to my pc before using kies as I have updated my os 2 times before. I have deleted files that have long extensions to fix the problem like the internet said I must do and still did not work. I have all the system requirements for kies to run. My fone is NOT rooted and has no custom ROM's or anything like that and it runs 2.3.3 gingerbread and I have selected "Samsung Kies" in USB settings. I really do hope someone can help me out and I would be very appreciative!

You can upgrade your phone via KIES.
Please ignore if you trying to update to 2.3.4

Freefaller, 29 Aug 2011The problem lies with the Samsung USB drivers, they are not... moreAll this doesnt work I treid and at last the mehtod I did worked. Latest version of samsung keis has all drivers for samsung phone.. that is the reason we need to instal samsung kies before rooting with odin.

you need pit file for rooting. You have to root first and then flash with the ROM
As per my understanding from what I have studied from xda forum in downloading mode you root like this
1. Step one: Root phone with CF root latest version 3.2 using pit file either with 513 or 803 pit file.
2. Then again step 2: Root phone with zImage in PDA
you can use 1.7 or 1.82 version of odin
This will instal CWM and SU superuser and may be busybox
You need to have Kies latest version installed and it must be closed while doing all this
Then in recovery mode you have install the ROM
I think you know how to use three combo mehtod. If you donot have that you cannot instal ROM on your phone. So you have to go to service centre.
Also check if your FW is bootloader otherwise you will loose three combo method.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
My gingerbread doesnot show this much of files I have downlaoded it from net and it is latest version 2.3.4 it has phone_xxx_tar, csc_xxxx_tar, PDA_xxxx_tar files but I have not installed yet, still studying net for better knowledge and have some doubts and not decided on whether to go for custom ROM or company ROM as I'l loose warranty

i recently bought my... moreMine was not connecting to PC. This was because of older of version of kies. I have downloaded and installed the latest version.
1. But the trick is after download disconnect internet cable
2.turn off your antivirus and firewall
3. Install version of kies 2.
4. connect your phone to kies.
5.After your phone is connected you can turn on firewall and internet connection.
this worked for me. My OS is windows 7 ultimate 64bit

... moreWhich ROM do you want to download. If it is 2.3.3, just service centre can do that.
If you want custom ROM you have to root your phone first instructions were already given in some following threads

I had the same problem, Kies would recognise the phone once, the not recognise it the second time I connected it.
I found that I had to keep reinstalling the USB drivers to get my computer to recognise the phone.
In the end I uninstalled Kies, it is obviously faulty.

my Galaxy S is getting hot during charging and battery is drained within 5 miniuts of talk, even having fully charged.this happened within 9 months of phone life.battery life is very short.

Hi ppl, desperetly need help on it...
i recently bought my sgs. ran d kies s/w received in the box. but whnver i connect my fone to pc it doest detect the fone at all. it used to detect in my computer earlier but not anymore. ensured samsung kies is selected in in USB setting. even upgraded to 2.3 gingerbread but dnt knw whts wrong. i dnt knw much abt samsung settings as havnt used samsung fone before. may b m missing out on something. have been to samsung gallery and explained it but nt much of help as they said will hav to check tht. can anybody help me with this. regards
