So you are looking to by a new phone and can't decide between the Samsung Galaxy S or the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.
For a start you can read a detailed review from http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/30/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-review/
about the SE Xperia Arc. I have to say, before reading that review I would have bought the phone no questions asked. But now I'm not so sure. Mostly because of video playback and average battery life.
I will say though that the battery life on my Galaxy S will last a day of heavy use and two to 2.5 days of light use.
Both phones are running on Gingerbread but according to that review the Arc is laggy due to it's UI putting too much strain on the hardware. The Galaxy S is very quick and smooth running Gingerbread.
My honest suggestion would be to spend a few extra pounds and get the Galaxy S2 which is a fantastic phone at the moment. If you not prepared to spend that sort of cash then go for the Galaxy S. It's easy to use, will rarely give you problems and if your feeling adventurous you can easily flash it with a custom ROM.

hey ray ... i have seen that u r helping all the guys out... i need ur help n opinion ... basically i m confused between 2 cell phones .. one is galaxy s and the other one xperia arc .. cant decide wat to buy .. beacause wen i ask sumbudy about any of them they dont give their true opinion they get biased upon wat they have ... the thing is i like both of em ... but i have heard that galaxy s is getting old and outdated and is slow wen compared to xperia arc ... and xperia arc on the other hand has low internal memory and no rom (actually just heard it from sumbudy, dont know exactly wat rom does, throw sum light on it).. just give me a detailed comparison.. so i could decide .. i wanna buy it in a few days .. thanx in advance for ur help ... and looking forward to ur detail answer .... cheers !

hi frnds i have a doubt, pls clear it. if i already installed gingerbread 2.3.3 xxjvk. now i am going 2 install XXJVK Android 2.3.3 ROM for Galaxy S, wat i have to select, xxjvk with bootloaders or without bootloaders for rom

[deleted post]At the moment I don't know if your Galaxy S will come with Gingerbread pre-loaded in June, but if it doesn't you can easily upgrade it using a program called Samsung Kies on your PC. Or. if you're feeling adventurous you can flash your phone with a Gingerbread ROM from samfirmware usin another program called Odin. A lot of people actually prefer Odin to Kies as it is considered more stable.

There are still a few bugs to iron out, like the choppy scrolling in the browser.

You won't see a lot of difference because the UI hasn't been changed, but you should be feeling a big difference in overall performance and speed.
One thing I did notice though is the text message conversations view has been improved. Previously, the conversation would only display part of the message but now it displays all of the message which is how it should be.

I've had this magnificent phone ever since it was launched in our region back in July 2010,screen is great, it's gorilla glass and i've had screen protection on and i change it every once in a while but now it's back cover is scratched. can i buy a new back cover? would asking for a white one be too much? does any one know if it is avaliable in the market? thanks
