NewToGalaxyS, 08 Feb 2011I already flashed 2.2.1 xxjpy from Samfirmware. also, I wan... moreDownload ClockworkMod Recovery from http://www.multiupload.com/5CUIK88JM0 Put ClockWorkMod Recovery, update.zip, on your INTERNAL SD-Card. Shutdown your phone, wait for it to power off completely (vibrates on Froyo, check buttons keypad light on Eclair), then boot the phone into Recovery Mode (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it). Select "Apply SDCARD:update.zip" (use volume keys/rocker to move up and down, and HOME button to select).
ClockworkMod Recovery will reboot phone now, you have to do the "Apply update.zip" twice for ClockworkMod Recovery to show up, so when it is rebooting press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen, so that you are back into recoveru and then select "Apply SDCARD update.zip" again and NOW you should have CWM on your phone.

when upgrade from Android 2.1 to Froyo 2.2 will the installed apps and data be all gone?
pls advice if to do it myself or sent to samsung service center to do that.

can someone advise me how to set MP3 songs as my message (SMS) alert tone?
Do the following:
1) Create a folder on your SD card named Media.
2) Create a sub folder inside the Media folder called Ringtones. Drag & drop your mp3's into the Ringtones folder.
3) You can also create a folder called Notifications in the Media folder and use your own notification sounds.
4) Create a sub folder in Media called Photos if you want somewhere to keep your photos safe.
You will note that when you start your phone up it always states 'Media Scanning' during boot up. It will read the Media folder on your SD card in that process.

I alread... moreThe easiest way to install the latest 2.2.1, and to be able to easily upgrade when/if 2.3 comes, is to install Darky's ROM Resurrection Edition, it will also automatically install cwm so if you later want install another rom or... then you can do so. TB, 07 Feb 2011I have a question. some people manage to make the phone wor... morehey TB, you're the one that I don't know how you eat your battery life that quick. Im using my phone all the day with my wifi switched on and i'm downloading/installing/uninstalling applications almost all the day, and I charge it about every one and half days.
here are some tips that MIGHT WORK:
1-try using a task killer and kill your application regulary.
2-automatic display brightness is very important to activate.
3-maybe u have a virus or ur 2.2.1 firmware ver isn't the genuine one(I think). try formatting ur phone and use the original firmware.
4-maybe there's something wrong with your battery, if u think buying one, just wait till the new Galaxy SL is released and buy its battery. It has higher capacity and can be fully suited in your device.
5- If you're a heavy caller, then don't ever worry. Making calls is the most thing that eats samsung batteries.
