Symbian sucks. the UI is slow and the overall performance is crap. Windows mobile was ok but the new version is also very disappointing. I suggest you get an android phone. U should wait for a couple of months. there would be some dual core android phones.

after thoroughly testing galaxyS and Xperia X10...i found out that galaxy overall is much better than the X10...much smoother touch...better memory...the super AMOLED has no comparison...better user experience...i find galaxy's 5mp is better than X10s 8mp... Flash in X10 is just useless...the only thing X10 is gud in is overall luks...but galaxy is not that way behing...only if samsung had used better quality plastic on its back cover..it would hav done wonders...but still ill prefer galaxy any day.....

I have used symbian and windows mo. Please suggest me whether to go for N8 or Galaxy S. My key factors are battery, email, web, office apps, fring, youtube and general apps?
I have not used android till date.

The same problem with GPS on 2.2, really can't get it done at all. Will see later when I got 2.2.1

I had this phone since August in the UK. Suffered like most through lags, disappearing app data and settings, e.g. emails and email accounts, non-functional GPS.
The Froyo 2.2 update fixed the disappearing apps data and settings problem. It reduced the lag a bit. However, GPS was still not functioning, hardly getting any satellite lock at all.
Last week I realised there was a new Froyo 2.2.1 update avialable (XXJPY build). With this update GPS seems to be really fixed. I have tried it a few times in London and so far it has always worked well. The lag was reduced more significantly. The quadrant score went from around 800 to around 1000.
However, Samsung does not seem to have fixed or replaced terribly broken RFS file system. As the performance benchmark is nowhere near Froyo ports with ext file systems.
Overall now phone works great with no known issue on my part. I hope this info helps someone.
