I live in the UK.
Maybe I should point out that I have fibre optic cable broadband (20 Mb) where I live which is why it only took a short time to upgrade (about 15 minutes). I have heard some people complain that it took ages to upgrade; it would nice to hear how long it took others to do it.

I purchased my SGS this morning (16/11/2010). Back home, I downloaded Kies software, installed phone on PC (Windows 7), and ran the software. Kies found the phone instantly, and a balloon message popped up telling me that there was an update to Android 2.2 available. A few mouse clicks later (Save contacts etc. etc.) and the phone started updating. Sat back and waited, and within a short while I had FroYo on my device. Couldn't have been easier !

Updated my SGS to Froyo 2.2 .. rooted the phone using z4root, installed lagfix and ran benchmark.
450 percent faster than 2.1 Eclair.
Android will be king of the phones within a year.
OH, and for you Nokia and iphone bozos here. Do this, dumbos.

My kies was able to detect my sgs,when i want to save my contact to pc,it says "the device is in use,close it and try again"
I already close all app but can't save my contact

Hi folks I am from Bangalore. I bought Samsung galaxy s on Saturday
. Its response and clarity is amazing... Even the camera is also good i agree with what Paul says below. I recommend you guys to buy This... Browsing is amazing like broadband speed fyi i am not biased towards Samsung but this is the truth...there one thing its little lagging that is because of multiple applications running in the background... Samsung recommends to disable background data process which helps tp increase the battery life... Go for it..its 21st century device...i am waiting for froyo android 2.2.

By the way I own an I-Phone 4 & Galaxy S. We have HTC HD and HTC Desire in our household and these were purchased after detailed study. Sorry mate N8 is not even in the picture.

using N-8 for one week. excellent camera with nice responsive screen. Never hanged till I installed Swype (from ovi store) .didnot restart till I tried to use speed dial. I was using Omnia HD till date ( I purchased because of symbians, but online support by samsung is totally disappointing). N8 is real value for money.
If anyone can help regarding restart issue while using speed dial please help.
What is the use of lakhs of applications in i0S, android or bada if basic applications like auto call recorderis not available till date ?
SAMSUNG has announce to stop symbians support from Dec2010 and still my 5 months warranty is left !

the clarity s good but its getng heat witn 5 min i got replacement and i change to nokia n8 i tell dis s an awsome phone if any buddy has an idea to get glaxy yo can go for n8

Today I bought the launcher pro application from market.
Would like to share my experience with you guys. Believe me people its 100 times better than samsung's own software touchwiz. I will recommend all SGS owners to get it. As after using the launcher pro my lagging issue has solved. I have not rooted the phone and still in warranty. All people who like htc sense will love it, as it is similar.
Now I have two options in my phone. whenever I get bored with one I use other.

Anusha, 16 Nov 2010can it be upgraded to 2.2v froyo...?hey it happend to me too all u have to do is to just resend the msg which faild and it will be sent. just a network problem nothing wrong with the phone .
